Jar of Flowers

Today's card was created for a dear friend of mine. Her birthday was actually in March but she was out of the country then. She got an incredible offer to go out of country and stay at a friend's place for free. It was one of those offers that you don't want to let pass. Unfortunately, it also turned out to be one of those "if it sounds too good to be true, then it is" situations. To make a long story short, she was away for her birthday so we weren't able to celebrate. She is back in Kelowna and had to self isolate for 2 weeks but all is good with her now. We are looking forward to things opening up again so we will be able to celebrate properly. I made this card and a batch of muffins that I dropped off as a very belated Happy Birthday to her. I know she really appreciated the card as she is a card maker as well so she knows the love that goes into a card.

For this card, I used the Jar of Flowers Bundle from the new annual catalogue. It is a really fun set as there are so many possibilities. I made a shaker card using the coordinating Mason Jar Shaker Domes.

I started with a Daffodil Delight card base and added a layer of Basic Black cardstock on top of this. I stamped the jar image onto a piece of Whisper white cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then stamped the stems image inside the jar. I stamped the flowers using the same ink on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. I actually fussy cut out the flowers. If you know me at all, that is not my favourite thing to do but I did it. Then I colored the flowers and stems using my Stampin' Blends. I colored in the spaces between the flowers using the Light Crumb Cake blends marker so that it would look like the background of the DSP. Before I did that, it was very bright white and didn't look quite right. I also added some Light Pool Party to the jar to look like there is water in it. I added a small pile of gems from the Flowers for Every Season Gems to the middle of the jar and attached the shaker dome after removing the release paper from the bottom of it. I used the coordinating Jar of Flowers punch to cut the jar shape in a piece of DSP from the In Good Taste Paper pack. I removed the release paper from the top of the shaker dome and added the piece of designer series paper. I attached this piece to the Basic Black cardstock on the card base using Tombo multi purpose glue. I added the flower image using dimensionals. I then added a bow using the white linen ribbon from the Flowers for every Season ribbon combo pack. I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Timeless Tulips stamp set onto a strip of Whisper White cardstock and flag cut one edge. I attached this using dimensionals.
