Tasteful Touches

Today's card was made for a gal that signed up as a demonstrator at the end of May. She found me through my website (terryhamilton.stampinup.net) and like many of us, her wish list was so long, she signed up so she could order from herself and save the discount. Thanks to Covid, we had only met through emails and phone calls until this week when I was able to drop off this card and a little welcome gift for her. She was as lovely in person as she was on the phone! I'm so glad we were able to meet and I was able to welcome her to our team. I look forward to the time when we can get together to make some cards.

I used the collage technique to make this card. I knew I wanted to use this technique on a card as soon as I saw this stamp set. It is absolutely perfect for it. If you haven't done this before, you need to choose a stamp set with a few different stamp images of varying sizes. You stamp the different images all over a piece of Whisper White cardstock using coordinating ink colours.

I started with a Smoky Slate card base for this card. I stamped the various images from the stamp set using Smoky Slate, Petal Pink, Just Jade, Misty Moonlight and Basic Gray inks. I matted this cardstock onto a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock and then attached it to my card base. I also stamped the feather image twice using Smoky Slate ink on a piece of scrap Whisper White cardstock and fussy cut them out. I added them to the card front using dimensionals. I felt the card needed a little depth and normally I would have used the flower image but I knew that the recipient of this card was not a fan of flowers. I think the feathers were a good alternate. I used a stamp set that is available only to demonstrators to stamp the sentiment. It is  called "Stamping Your Way to the Top". I thought it was perfect for this card as our team is very welcoming. To give the card more texture, I tore the bottom off the sentiment piece and the piece of Smoky Slate cardstock that I used to mat the sentiment piece. I wrapped some Whisper White crinkled seam binding around this piece and tied it into a knot. Then I attached the sentiment piece to the top of the card front using dimensionals.

I know she liked the card as she sent me a reply right away to let me know. That makes my heart happy. I love sending cards to friends and family but to know that they love them is even better.

What I used for today's card:

I hope you have enjoyed today's card. Give the collage technique a try. It could work with so many different stamp sets. Stay healthy and keep creating!
Terry
