Hello my friends! I hope you are all staying well. It is kind of frightening how our Covid numbers are still on the increase. I am very happy that there is now a mandatory mask rule for all indoor places. It will definitely help the situation.
Yesterday was my birthday and it was a very different kind of a celebration this year. I received many cards and many were hand made, which always makes me happy. I also had a couple of surprise pop in front door visits. A very good friend stopped by with a Chai Tea latte and a lovely present and homemade card. Then about an hour later my daughter Chelsey popped by with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a card and another Chai Tea latte. They know me so well! I was very happy to see my daughter because she has been staying away with the high numbers. Her and her husband are both working so they see a lot of people during their day and she doesn't want to possibly bring anything to me. She wore her mask when she came in and kept her distance and we couldn't even hug. That is the worst for me. It was a cool, rainy day here so I spent most of the day in my craft room. A perfect day for a card maker!
Today's card was one of those that started out completely different from what the final project was. Does that ever happen for you? I knew I wanted to use this embossing folder but that was it.
I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I embossed using the Evergreen Forest 3D embossing folder. I then sponged on some Garden Green and Mossy Meadow ink all over the embossed trees. To make the night sky, I sponged on a few different inks - Crumb Cake, Petal Pink, Basic Gray and then a light sponging of Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Once I had the colouring that I was happy with, I flicked on some drops of Frost White Shimmer Paint using a dry Water Painter. You could use a regular paint brush but I didn't know where my paint brushes were and this was handy. Once the shimmer paint had dried, I attached this to a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I wrapped a piece of Whisper White Crinkled seam binding ribbon around this and tied it into a knot.
I used Whisper White Thick cardstock for my card base. I added a piece of Garden Green cardstock on top of this to be a mat behind the Basic Black cardstock. I attached the card front to the base using dimensionals.
I stamped my sentiment from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. I punched this out using the Classic Label punch and added this to my card using dimensionals.
What I used for today's card:
Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder
Garden Green Classic Stampin' Pad
Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin' Pad
Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' Pad
Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad
Petal Pink Classic Stampin' Pad
Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set
Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed today's card. I was quite pleased with how it turned out, even though it was so far from what I started to make.
Stay healthy and keep creating!
Terry
