Hello my friends! How are you all doing? I have been loving this beautiful warm, sunny weather we have been having until now. It makes me want to be on a sandy beach again. That is how today's card came to be. On one of my walks this past week, I was talking to a friend about a trip we went on to Hawaii many years ago. I felt I needed to make this card to pay homage to the Waterfront stamp set that will be retiring at the end of May.
I really love how you can create so many different scenes with this stamp set just by using a variety of colours of ink or arranging the stamps differently.
I was working on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I started by stamping the water in Seaside Spray ink. This ink is also retiring as it is an In Colour ink and it's time is up. I then stamped the sandy beach in Sahara Sand ink. I also stamped the little dots on top of the sand using Crumb Cake ink. Next I stamped the mountains using Smoky Slate ink. I stamped some full strength and some stamped off to give them dimension. I stamped my palm trees next. I stamped the trunks using Soft Suede ink and the tree tops using Old Olive ink. Finally, I stamped the sun using Mango Melody ink.
I was very happy with my picture scene but it looked a little stark at this point. I decided to add some ink using the Blender Brushes. I sponged on some Balmy Blue very lightly, to create a clear, blue sky. Then I sponged on some Daffodil Delight ink around the sun because it was a very hot sunny day. That "completed" the look I was going for.
I matted this piece on to a piece of Basic Gray cardstock and then matted that on to a piece of Basic White cardstock. I wrapped a piece of baker's twine around these pieces and tied it into a knot. The baker's twine is from the Flowers for Every Season ribbon combo pack. It is actually Misty Moonlight but coordinates well with the Seaside Spray. I then attached this to my Seaside Spray card base using dimensionals. This cardstock is also retiring.
I stamped my sentiment onto a piece of Basic White cardstock using Basic Gray ink. I fussy cut around the words using my scissors and added this to my card front using dimensionals.
