Hello my friends! I hope you are all doing well. I have made a card for the As You See It Challenge today. The challenge this week is a "fill in the blank" challenge. The statement is My first favourite flower of Spring is.....For me hands down it is a pansy. To see their brightly coloured flowers definitely means Spring to me.
I was thinking about this card for a couple of days before I actually got a chance to give it a try. Of course, as per my usual way, things changed completely and this is not quite like my original thought. I wanted to use the Pansy Patch Bundle and wanted to heat emboss on vellum. That is as close to the original plan as I got.
I decided to use the new 2021-2023 In Colour Shimmer Vellum instead of regular vellum. I love this new vellum! It doesn't show up well in the picture but it is really sparkly. I used Versamark to stamp the smaller pansy image on to the Fresh Freesia vellum. I added white embossing powder (from the Basics embossing powder set) and heated it with my Heat Tool to melt. Once it was cooled, I used the corresponding die from the Pansy Dies to cut out my flowers. I used the smaller, solid leaf die to cut out some leaves from the Evening Evergreen vellum.
I used one of the dies from the Hippo & Friends set to cut out a piece of Basic White cardstock. I used glue dots to add my pansies and then used Tombo multipurpose glue to add my leaves. I added a Pale Papaya coloured rhinestone from the 2021-2023 In Colour Jewels to the center of my pansies.
I added a "swirl" of ribbon to the back of my flower piece using the Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon.
I used a Basic White Thick card base. On top of that I added a layer of Fresh Freesia cardstock that I embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing folder. I added my flower piece to the card front using dimensionals.
I stamped my sentiment on to a strip of Basic White cardstock using Evening Evergreen ink. I used the Banners Pick a Punch to cut banner edges into both edges of my strip of cardstock. I then added this piece to my card using dimensionals.
What I used for today's card:
2021-2023 In Colour Shimmer Vellum
Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder
Evening Evergreen Classic Stampin' Pad
Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon
Here is another sign of Spring. A friend and I were walking along the boardwalk on the weekend and we came across this family of geese. The little ones are so cute and fluffy! The parents were keeping a close watch so we kept our distance but I was able to get a picture of the cuteness.
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. Do pansies make you think of Spring? If not, which flower makes you think Spring? Make a card and post it on the AYSI Challenge page.
Stay well and keep creating!
Terry
Terry, those pansies are so delicate on the tinted vellum. They are lovely! Great choice of label to display them on, too! Thanks for sharing your favourite spring flower with us at As You See It Challenges!
ReplyDeleteVellum pansies - how gorgeous! The shaped background and swoosh of dark ribbon provide a lovely backdrop for them. Thank you for joining us at As You See It Challenge.
ReplyDeleteI don't have that vellum, yet, but I can't wait to try it! I can see when I click on your photo how sparkly it is - much more sparkle than I expected. And those baby geese are so cute and fluffy!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful card with us at the As You See It Challenge blog!
