Beautiful Trees

Hello my friends! Wow, it has been so smoky here this week. I couldn't even see across the gulley some days. I hope it is better wherever you are!

Today's card is another card I made for Doug's uncle. When Doug was visiting his Mom last week she asked him to pick up a card for her to sign and give to her brother. Well, I will not have that. In this family, we don't buy cards from a store! This is what I came up with.

I started by using a die from the Scalloped Contours Dies set and cut out the center of a piece of cardstock. I laid this piece on top of a piece of Basic White cardstock and used my Blending Brush to add some Evening Evergreen ink. I added it darker at the edges and lighter in the center.

Over top of the scalloped rectangle that I inked, I added the larger tree from the Beautiful Trees Dies set. I cut it out of Basic Black cardstock with some of our adhesive sheets on the back of it. That made it so much easier to attach those tiny little branches! I matted my card front on to a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I wrapped some linen thread around this piece three times and then tied it into a knot.

I stamped my sentiment onto a strip of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The sentiment is from the Art Gallery Stamp set. I used the Banners Pick a Punch to cut a banner into the right edge of the strip. I matted this on to a strip of Evening Evergreen cardstock that I cut a banner into the right edge as well. I love using the punch for this because the banner cuts match up perfectly. If I was to do that myself, I would never get the edges to match up so nicely. I trimmed off the left edge so they lined up as well. I added my sentiment piece to the card over top of the linen thread using dimensionals.

To complete the card, I added the front to a Soft Succulent card base using dimensionals.

Doug took the card in for his Mom to sign and she was very happy with it. She had him write down what she wanted on the inside of the card but was able to sign her name to it. We will deliver the card for her at the big celebration.

What I used for today's card:

Beautiful Trees Dies

Scalloped Contours Dies

Art Gallery Stamp Set

Blending Brushes

Soft Succulent Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Evening Evergreen Cardstock

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Linen Thread

Banners Pick a Punch

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I am glad that Doug's Mom is happy with it and hoping that his uncle will like it. Do you strictly send homemade cards or do you buy cards from the store sometimes? I think you know where I stand on that issue.

Stay well and keep creating!

Terry
