Hand Penned

Hello my friends! Wow is it smoky here in Kelowna! I hope it is cleaner air where you are. We were at the lake last weekend and it was really bad out there. I was hoping when we got home it would be better here but unfortunately not. We had a great visit with Doug's Uncle at his 80th birthday celebration. On our drive back to the lake from the party, we saw a bear cub crossing the highway just in front of us. He (or she) was so cute! I was a little worried that Mama Bear might come out of the woods but it appears he was at the tail end of the family trek.

Today's cards are from another mystery card event that my friend Susanne did. It was so much fun again! If you are not familiar with a mystery card, you get the instructions of what cardstock to cut a few days before the event. At the event, we cut our DSP and assembled our cards to come up with the finished creations. This time we made 6 cards using the same cardstock and DSP. There are two of each design with two of them being very similar, just different DSP was used.

Card #1:

Card #2:

Card #3 and #4:

Card #5 and #6:

All 6 cards use a card base of Basic White Thick cardstock. On top of that, we added a layer of Basic White cardstock that we embossed using whatever embossing folder we chose. I used the Pretty Flowers embossing folder.

We cut our smaller mat pieces of cardstock ahead of time. I used Pool Party for these mats. We cut the DSP during the event as I said above. I used the Hand Penned DSP. I love every sheet in this package! And it is on sale this month for 15% off! We attached our DSP to the corresponding mat pieces of cardstock and then added them to the embossed card front using both adhesive and dimensionals. I really like how the design was to put these pieces on at angles rather than straight up and down. It adds more character to the cards.

I stamped my sentiments using Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Basic White cardstock and then cut them out using the Tasteful Labels Dies (the two larger labels) and Hippo & Friends Dies (the smaller label). The sentiments I used are from Dragonfly Garden, Beauty of Friendship and Friends are Like Seashells stamp sets. I attached the sentiments using both adhesive and dimensionals.

We were told to have various embellishments to add to our cards so of course I had to use ribbon. I have a very hard time making a card without ribbon on it. I also used some Basic Pearls that I coloured using my Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends. The ribbon I used was the Pool Party Sheer Ribbon. I tied it into a bow and attached it to my cards using a glue dot.

This was a quick way to make 6 beautiful cards. I am in need of many cards as I am part of a Team Canada Stampin' Up! event and over the next couple of months my team and I need to come up with 431 cards. I will be using these cards for this event and will be making more using different cardstock, DSP and embossing folders.
