Dragonfly Garden

Hello my friends! Well things have settled down a little with the big fire on the Westside. It is nowhere near out but some of the evacuated people were allowed back home again so that is a good sign. It has been a little cooler which is a big help to the firefighters. We had a little bit of rain today but I hope we get more. I think there is some in the forecast for this weekend so fingers crossed!

Today's card was another card that I initially made for a blog hop that I was unable to take part in. I figured I might as well share my card anyway. The theme for this month was "Reading is FONTamental". I wasn't sure exactly what that meant so I decided I would use a stamp set that had a Font that I really liked. That stamp set is Garden Wishes.

I started  by stamping the flower image from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set on to a piece of Basic White cardstock using Versamark ink. I added White Embossing powder and heated it to melt. Once it cooled, I used my Blending Brush to add some Just Jade ink. I added more ink to the center of the piece where the flower image is and less ink towards the outer edges. I then used a slightly damp tissue to wipe the ink off of the embossed image. The ink makes the flower pop. This technique is called Emboss Resist and it is another of my favourites.

I layered my stamped piece on a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then matted that on top of a piece of Just Jade cardstock. I wrapped a piece of Basic Black Baker's Twine around this and tied it into a bow. I then added this to a Basic White Thick card base using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment from the Garden Wishes stamp set using Black Staz On ink on a strip of Basic White cardstock. I used the Banners Pick a Punch to cut a banner into both edges of the strip of cardstock. I matted the sentiment onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock that I cut a banner into both ends as I did with the sentiment piece. I added this to the lower part of the card using dimensionals on the right side and adhesive where it sits on top of the flower image piece.

There was still something missing from the card so I added some Matte Black Dots to tie it all together. That completed the card.

What I used for today's card:

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. As I said, this is one of my favourite techniques. Have you tried this one yet? Give it a try and send me a picture of what you've made. I really miss seeing the creations that my stamp group gals make every month. I did a couple of draws every month so if you particpated in the challenges you could have a chance to win a prize. Maybe I need to do that somehow on here so I can see what you all are creating. I'm going to figure that out so stay tuned....

Stay well and keep creating!

Terry
