Pampered Pets

 Hello my friends!

Today's card was created for a non-profit group that I do knitting for. It is called Knittins for Kittins and you can find them on Facebook if you are interested in doing some knitting for them. They send blankets, toys and nests to different cat shelters across Canada.

I had 6 blankets ready to mail and since Canada Post is offering a free parcel to be mailed on Tuesdays in the month of October, I decided that this is the time to send the blankets. The group is located in Victoria so free postage is wonderful! Here is a picture of the blankets on their way to Victoria and also a picture of them being inspected before being sent.

Of course I could not send a box of blankets for the kitties and not send a card, right? Here is the card I made.

I started with the strip of DSP from the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper package. I decided I wanted to use this particular pattern and that is where I chose my colours from.

I used a Basic White Thick card base. On top of that, I attached a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock that I embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing folder. I added my strip of DSP on top of this cardstock.

On a small piece of Basic White cardstock I stamped the kitty image from the Pampered Pets Stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Technically, I should have used Stazon ink because I was using my watercolour pencils to colour in the kitty. The Memento ink could have smeared because it does not like water based products being used with it. I was very careful though and it worked out. I used the Watercolour Pencils to colour in the kitty and then used my Blender Pen to blend the colours all together. This is my attempt at a tortoiseshell kitty in honour of our little Bailey. I stamped the heart images above her head and then cut out the images using the Layering Circles Dies. I added this to my card front using dimensionals.

On a strip of Basic White cardstock I stamped my sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I cut a banner cut into the right edge of this piece. On the left edge, I wrapped a piece of Poppy Parade Baker's Twine and tied it into a bow. Wait, I can hear you saying that we don't even have Poppy Parade baker's twine. You are correct! I used a piece of white baker's twine from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack and coloured it using my Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends. I have done this before to colour ribbon but had not yet tried to colour baker's twine but it works wonderfully! I added my sentiment to my card front using dimensionals and that completes my card.

What I used for today's card:

Pampered Pets Stamp

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Granny Apple Green Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Pattern Party DSP

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Poppy Parade Classic Stampin' Pad

Layering Circles Dies

Watercolour Pencils

Blender Pens

Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends

Baker's Twine Essentials Pack

Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I really hope the gal at the rescue likes it. Obviously she is a crazy cat lady just like myself. She does so much work for the kittens and cats that need to be in shelters. The least I can do is make a few blankets and toys when I can.

Stay well and keep creating!

Terry
