Easter Friends Baby Card

Hi friends! This weather has been so crazy this Spring. The snow line was just above us on Friday! It is definitely cooler than normal. Good weather for making cards!

Today's card was made for a friend of mine who's son and daughter-in-law just welcomed a new baby boy. They already have a little girl who is two I think. In my defense, I have never met this little girl because they live on the other side of the country.

I decided to use the Easter Friends stamp set because the last post I did using this set in an Easter card I stated that it could be used to do a baby card as well. This was the perfect opportunity to try that. This stamp set is in the January to June mini catalogue so it is only available until the end of June.

I started with a Basic White Thick card base. On top of that, I added a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock that I used the Stitched with Whimsy Die on. This is a fun die set that doesn't actually cut a shape of the cardstock but it cuts in a fun, swirly stitched pattern. It adds some texture and interest to the cardstock.

I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock using the Stitched Rectangle Dies set. I then stamped the bunny image from the stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Once it dried, I coloured in the bunny using Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends. I used the Old Olive Stampin' Blends to add some grass that he is standing on and used the Pool Party Stampin' Blends to outline the bunny. I was taught to do this by a friend who is an amazing artist. She also said it is good to leave some white space when colouring in an image. I gave this bunny a white spot on his chest. It reminds me of our previous cat who was all grey except for his tiny "angel spot" on his chest. I matted this image on to a piece of Basic Gray cardstock and attached it to the Balmy Blue cardstock.

On another piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped my sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. This sentiment is from the Celebrating You stamp set. It is a very versatile set with many different sentiments. I punched out my sentiment using the Double Oval punch. I punched out the larger, scalloped oval from a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock. I layered the two ovals together and added them to the card front using dimensionals.

To complete the card, I added a few 2022-2024 In Colour Matte Decorative Dots. I think it adds just the right bit of colour on the white.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I also hope that my friend's family will enjoy it.

Stay well and keep creating!

Terry
