Hello friends! Are you enjoying this hot weather or am I the only one?
We were at the lake this past weekend and Chelsey brought my little angel out to visit. She makes me so happy! Read to the end of this post to see some adorable pictures.....
Today's card was something that turned out completely opposite from what I had originally thought I would make. I was thinking about doing a water scene but didn't know what stamp set I was going to use. When I was choosing a stamp set, I thought I would use one that I haven't used for a while. I chose Campology. That meant I was no longer doing a water scene. You can't tent in the water!
I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock. I used my Blending Brushes to add colour to be the ground and the night sky. I used Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green and Soft Suede for the ground and Night of Navy, Merry Merlot, Tuxedo Black Memento and Crushed Curry ink for the sky.
I used the smallest die from the Layering Circles Dies to cut out a Post It note. I placed this on the top portion of the cardstock to mask out the moon. After I added the inks to create the sky, I removed the Post It note and added the Crushed Curry ink to colour the moon and the halo around it.
I stamped the trees on the left side of the card piece using Garden Green ink.
I added this piece to a piece of Basic Black cardstock and added this to a card base of Smoky Slate.
On a small piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the tent image using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I coloured it in using Stampin' Blends. I used Smoky Slate to colour the tent and Old Olive to colour the grass around the tent. I think it is interesting how close the Old Olive Stampin' Blend is to the colour of the ground that I created using the blending brushes. I fussy cut out the tent and added it to the card front using dimensionals.
When I was deciding where to place the tent, I laid it down on the card to see if I liked it. I left it there while I did a few other steps. When I moved it, I discovered that the ink disappeared under it. I have no idea how or why this happened but it's definitely something to think about. There must have been some kind of reaction between the water based ink and the Stampin' Blends which are alcohol based. Here is a picture of the missing ink spot.
On another strip of Basic White cardstock, I stamped my sentiment. The sentiment is from the Very Best Occasions stamp set. This is a new set in the July to December Mini catalog. It's a really versatile set with sentiments for the inside and outside . I cut a banner cut into both edges of my sentiment piece and added it to my card using dimensionalsl.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I had a lot of fun making it. Perhaps I will do a water scene in the near future.
Stay well and keep creating!
Terry
