Floating Strips Technique

Hello friends! What a beautiful weekend we had. I could honestly get used to this weather. I know it's not supposed to last but I can dream. We spent a lot of time playing at the park and then playing in the yard. So nice to get out of the house for play time.

Today's card was created to use the Floating Strips Technique and the Fancy Flora DSP. I love how this technique looks and it is really fun to do.

I started by cutting the Fancy Flora DSP into half inch strips. I attached these strips to a piece of Window Sheet using Tombo multipurpose glue. Once I had the strips all attached to the Window Sheet, I cut out a circle using the stitched circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.

I used a card base of Orchid Oasis cardstock. On top of that, I added a piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock. I embossed a piece of Basic White cardstock using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder and attached that to the Fresh Freesia cardstock. I added my stitched circle to the card front using dimensionals. The dimensionals were placed only where the DSP is so it looks like the strips are magically floating in air.

I added a butterfly to my circle. I cut the butterfly out of some Orchid Oasis cardstock using the Brilliant Wings Dies.

On a strip of Orchid Oasis cardstock, I stamped my sentiment using Versamark. I added White Embossing powder to my sentiment and heated it to melt using my heat tool. The sentiment is from the Happiness Abounds stamp set. I cut the left edge of my sentiment at an angle to give it some style. I then added my sentiment to my card front using dimensionals.

Unfortunately a couple items I used on this card are retiring as of May 2nd. The Fancy Flora DSP and the Brilliant Wings Dies will no longer be available. I am especially sad to say goodbye to the Brilliant Wings Dies. These butterflies are beautiful and are often just the perfect addition to a card.

Stay well and keep creating!

Terry

I'm adding a cute picture of my angel. This is her at swimming lessons just before going into the pool. She loves being in the water and is getting really good at floating and putting her face in the water. At this class she discovered the slide. She absolutely loves all slides so finding this one that goes into the pool was a huge bonus.
