One Sheet Wonder

Hello stampers! Today's post will feature a One Sheet Wonder technique. I totally copied (with permission) the layout from my friend Susanne. Some demonstrators put together a one sheet wonder technique and then charge to give out the measurements. Susanne is such a sharing person that she has given us the layout and measurements in her video. Here is a link to that video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KW6H73JkNxY&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR0-vETL3g2VluVp99UEW81YvP1TLoK7lwmp_MXkh_g0-Y4FFkCNERXJaic .
When you watch the video, it will help you understand what I have done. This is a really fun way to use up some of that extra designer series paper that you may have or a fast way to make a big stack of cards to have on hand. I got 15 cards out of one sheet of designer series paper plus some cardstock and embellishments. Here are some pictures of what I did.

The first picture is the piece of DSP that I chose to use. It is from the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.

This is the first cutting of the DSP. I cut the 12 X 12 sheet into three sheets that were 4 X 12.

This is a picture after cutting the three strips into the smaller pieces to use on the cards. I did make an error while cutting my paper. On the middle 4 X 12 strip, I cut the top piece and the bottom piece in half. I should not have done that. I was supposed to cut the two top pieces from the strip on the right in half. I corrected this and carried on following Susanne's directions. I will use up the pieces that I cut incorrectly on another card or maybe two to add to my stash.

After I had all of my paper cut, I assembled the cards using Thick Whisper White cardstock for the card bases. I used Old Olive cardstock to mat some of the pieces of DSP and then added a sentiment that I stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I added some embellishments and the cards were done!  When I was making these cards, I realized that I am desperately lacking in sentiment stamps. Susanne used the Peaceful Moments stamp set for her sentiments. It is a perfect variety of different sentiments. That set will be going on my next order for sure. I used various stamp sets, including some that are retiring as of June 2nd. I used sentiments from Special Celebrations and Beautiful Bouquet (both are retiring); Inspiring Iris, Timeless Tulips, Very Versailles and Celebrate Sunflowers which is a new set in the new catalogue. For my embellishments I used Star Designer Elements and Gilded Gems. The Gilded Gems are also new and were in the early release sale for the Ornate Gardens bundle.

Here is a picture of my finished cards:

What I used to create these cards:

Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper

Thick Whisper White Cardstock

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Special Celebrations Stamp

Beautiful Bouquet Stamp

Inspiring Iris Stamp

Timeless Tulips Stamp

Very Versailles Stamp

Gilded Gems

Star Designer Elements

I also used a new stamp set called Celebrate Sunflowers. I can't add a link for this one as it is not available for purchase until June 3rd.

I hope that you will give this technique a try. Thanks for stopping by. Stay healthy and keep creating.

Lovely is the Day

Well this will be a bonus post today. As you all probably know, the new Stampin' Up! catalog will be going live June 3rd, such an exciting time! So because there will be new stamps to play with I was going through my stuff and pulling out the retired stamps. I found a stamp set that I recently purchased that I hadn't even used yet. This makes me very sad when this happens. When I discovered this brand new stamp that hadn't seen any ink yet I made a challenge to myself to make at least one card with it for my blog this week. The stamp set I am referring to is called Lovely is the Day and is a part of a bundle with the Lovely Leaves die set.

I had been thinking about this stamp set for a few days before getting into my stamp room. Monday, I spent the day doing yard work and I was planning out my card while I was weeding. I spent some time in my room on Tuesday and the cards I created were not that close to what I was dreaming of while I was weeding! Does that happen to you as well, the card you finally come up with is very far from what you originally planned?

This first card was not created for anyone in particular, I just liked what came together. For my card base, I used a piece of Purple Posy cardstock. On top of this, I layered a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I embossed using the Subtle 3D embossing folder. After I embossed it, I stamped the sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment so that I was able to stamp it a couple of times and be assured that it would line up perfectly. I wanted to do this because I wasn't sure how well it would stamp after being embossed.

I stamped the flower image onto a small piece of Whisper White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then cut it out using the Stitched Rectangle dies. I colored the leaves and flowers using my Stampin' Blends. I used Highland Heather, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Stampin' Blends.  I layered this piece onto a piece of Highland Heather cardstock. I wrapped a piece of Highland Heather baker's twine around this piece and tied it into a bow. I know you are probably saying "there is no such thing as Highland Heather baker's twine" and you would be correct. I actually used Whisper White baker's twine and dyed it using Highland Heather Ink refill mixed into some rubbing alcohol. I used the rubbing alcohol so that it would dry faster. You could also use your Stampin' Blends to color your baker's twine (or ribbon). I'm not sure how fast it dries doing it that way but since the Blends are alcohol markers, I would think it would dry fairly quickly. Just as a note of interest, the Whisper White baker's twine is retiring as well. I cannot believe it will not be in the new catalog. I'm not sure how I will cope without it as I use it a lot.

I used the smaller fern die that comes in the bundle to cut out 4 ferns from Pear Pizzazz cardstock and 2 from Vellum cardstock. Before I attached the flower piece onto my card front, I stuck the ferns onto the back of the flower piece. I attached 2 Pear Pizzazz ferns and 1 Vellum fern to the top right and bottom left corners of the image. Then I attached this to the card front using dimensionals. This is the first card using this gorgeous stamp set.

What I used to make this first card:

Lovely is the Day Bundle

Stamparatus

Subtle 3D Embossing Folder

Stitched Rectangle Dies

Highland Heather Stampin' Blends

Old Olive Stampin' Blends

Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Whisper White Baker's Twine

Highland Heather Ink Refill

The second card using the Lovely is the Day stamp set was created for my new pharmacy team. When the pandemic was declared the way we get our prescriptions filled changed. I had some poor service at the pharmacy I had been using for many years so I switched to a new one. The new pharmacy staff have been so incredibly helpful and kind that I wanted to send them a card to let them know how much I appreciate them.

I started with a Thick Whisper White card base which I layered with a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock. Next I added a piece of regular Whisper White cardstock that I sponged with Petal Pink and Pear Pizzazz inks. This piece looked a little too plain like this so I stamped some of the leaf images using Granny Apple Green ink. I really like how the two green inks go so well together.

I stamped the single flower image from this set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto a small piece of Whisper White cardstock. Then I cut it out using the Stitched Nested Labels dies. I stamped the leaf images on to this piece using Granny Apple Green ink stamped off once. I like how the leaf image stamp lines up so well with the leaves on the flower stamp. Then I colored the flower using Stampin' Blends. I used Petal Pink and Daffodil Delight. I wrapped a piece of Whisper White baker's twine around this piece and tied it into a knot. I am really going to miss this baker's twine! I added this piece to the card using dimensionals.

For the thank you sentiment, I used a stamp from the Free as a Bird set. I stamped onto a small piece of Whisper White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and flagged both ends. This was added to the card using dimensionals. This is the second card using Lovely is the Day bundle.

What I used to make this second card:

Lovely is the Day Stamp

Free as a Bird Stamp

Stitched Nested Labels Dies

Petal Pink Classic Stampin' Pad

Granny Apple Green Classic Stampin' Pad

Pear Pizzazz Classic Stampin' Pad

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Petal Pink Stampin' Blends

Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends

Whisper White Baker's Twine

And these are the cards for today. I hope you have enjoyed them. Thanks for stopping by. Stay healthy and keep creating!

Good Morning Magnolia

Well I hope all of you Moms had a Happy Mother's Day. I got totally spoiled by my daughter. She had both of us over for a delicious brunch which consisted of French toast with fresh berries and whip cream, fresh fruit, veggie pizza, pasta salad and scones. Then we went for a walk in the woods above their house. There is a cute little pond that had lots of ducks and birds enjoying the sunny day. When we got back to the house after our walk, the boys left us and did their own thing and we did a craft that Chelsey had planned for us. She bought all of the components for us to create a succulent planter. So thoughtful and it is so cute. We kept our distance from each other during our visit but it was so nice to spend the day with my girl. I have really missed her.

Today's card was created especially for Dr. Bonnie Henry. In case you are not from BC, she is the Provincial Health Officer for BC and has done an incredible job of keeping us all safe and calm during this Covid 19 pandemic. There was a posting on Facebook asking us card makers to send a thank you card to her in appreciation of the great work that she has done. I was all for that. When I see the leadership in other areas, I am so thankful for her hard work and dedication that sending a card seemed like the least I could do.

I immediately thought of the Magnolia Lane suite and the Good Morning Magnolia stamp. I love this suite so I am really glad that it will be carrying over into the new catalog. Well, the stamp and dies will carry over. Sadly, the designer series paper will not be carrying over. I stamped the large magnolia image onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Tuxedo Memento Black ink. Then I cut it out using the corresponding die from the bundle and colored it in using my Stampin' Blends. I used Mossy Meadow, Petal Pink and Daffodil Delight. I used a Thick Whisper White card base with the Petal Pink striped designer series paper which I added to a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock. I wrapped a piece of Mossy Meadow Linen thread around  this part of the card twice and tied it into a bow. This linen thread is from the Magnolia Lane ribbon combo pack. I added this to my card base using dimensionals. I stamped the "thank you" sentiment onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock using Tuxedo Memento Black ink and cut it out using a stitched oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies set. The "thank you" is from the Beautifully Braided stamp set. If you are interested in the Magnolia Lane designer series paper or the ribbon combo, it is on sale right now since it is retiring. Check the link to my online store for prices and availability.

I hope Dr. Henry likes this card. I don't think it will be a problem posting this card on my bog before mailing it to her as there is not much chance of her seeing it here on my blog.

What I used to make this card:

Beautifully Braided Stamp

Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper

Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack

Stitched Shapes Dies

Tuxedo Memento Black Ink Pad

Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends

Honey Bee Bundle

Happy Mother's Day to all of you Mom's out there! Being a Mom is one of the hardest yet most rewarding jobs we will ever do. One of the rewards of being a Mom is when you become a Grandmother. I am so lucky to have two adorable grandchildren, a girl and a boy from my oldest daughter. They are going to be 4 at the end of August. With all of this isolation we haven't seen them since Christmas. They live in Prince George, BC which is a 10 hour drive from Kelowna. Maybe now that they are lifting some of the isolation rules we will be able to get together again soon. I will be spending Mother's Day with my younger daughter. She lives here in Kelowna. Traditionally we get together for lunch or brunch at a beautiful restaurant and then go visit the spot where we spread my Mom's ashes and leave her some pink carnations, her favorite flowers. This year we will have a socially distanced visit but at least we will be able to be together. I am really looking forward to seeing her. Even though we talk on the phone almost every day, it is just not the same.

Today's card is not a Mother's Day card. It is one that I have been working on for my online classes for May. If you would like to do this class during the month of May, just let me know. This card was influenced by one that I saw on Pinterest. It was not made with anything Stampin' Up! so I changed that by using the Honey Bee Bundle.

I used a piece of the heavy cardstock that comes in our packages of Designer Paper and cut out the honeycomb. I used this piece as a mask and sponged the hive pattern onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Daffodil Delight ink and a sponge dauber. I tried it first using a regular sponge but got better results using the sponge dauber. Then I stamped the bee hive onto another piece of Whisper White cardstock using Crushed Curry ink. I cut this out using the corresponding die from the bundle. I stamped three of the small bumblebees onto another piece of Whisper White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I cut these out using the die from the bundle. Then I colored the yellow stripes onto the bees using my Daffodil Delight Dark Stampin' Blends. It is hard to see in this picture but I also added Wink of Stella to their little wings to give them some sparkle. I matted the stamped Whisper White cardstock piece onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then popped this onto a Thick Whisper White card base using dimensionals. I added the bee hive to the card front using dimensionals. I used dimensionals to attach two of the bumblebees and Tombo Multipurpose Liquid glue to attach the third one onto the hive. I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of Whisper White cardstock and flagged both ends. I attached this to the card front using both liquid glue and a dimensional.

This card was made for a friend who's name I can't say at this time. I haven't sent it out yet and I don't want the recipient to know she will be receiving it.

What I used to make this card:

Honey Bee Bundle

Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin' Pad

Crushed Curry Classic Stampin' Pad

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends Markers

Clear Wink of Stella
