Prized Peony

Unfortunately I needed to make another sympathy card. This time it was for one of my friends and downline, Kay, who is a very special person so I wanted the card to reflect that. I have a hard time making sympathy cards as it is such a difficult time for the recipient and it is so hard to let them know the love you are sending to them.

I felt the Prized Peony stamp set would be great for this card and decided on the Whitewash Technique. I stamped the large peony image onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock using Versamark ink. Then I added white embossing powder and heated it to melt using my heat tool. I coloured the entire flower using my water painter and Whisper White Craft ink. After that dried (it takes a few minutes) I coloured the flower using Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight ink and the stems and leaves using Old Olive ink. I used the water painter to colour these as well. Once it dried, I used a slightly damp paper towel to wipe the excess ink off of the embossed parts of the image. It made the colour sort of run off into the Crumb Cake cardstock but I like how it looks. It gives kind of an aura to the flower.

I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Old Olive ink and then cut it out using the Ornate Frames dies. I attached the Crumb Cake cardstock to a Calypso Coral mat. I wrapped a piece of Calypso Coral ribbon from the Ornate Garden ribbon combo pack around this piece and tied it into a knot. This piece was then added to a Thick Whisper White card base using dimensionals. I then added the sentiment piece using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

I hope that Kay feels the love in this card and that she will be able to heal with the strength of friends and family.

Thank you for popping by today. Stay healthy and keep creating!
Terry
