In the second picture, just to the left of where my daughter is hiding in the hole is where I slipped. There was a huge cliff and below that a big river that leads to some waterfalls. I'm so thankful that I didn't go over the edge because I would not have survived going through the falls. It was a fabulous weekend though and I am so glad that Chelsey joined us.
Today's card was made using the Whale Done stamp set. I used the shaving foam technique. I thought about this technique immediately when I saw this stamp set. I love the effects of this but it is definitely messy! I used this technique with my stamp group ladies a while ago and some loved it but some were not thrilled with the mess.
This card was made for my grandson, Everett. Since covid, I have been sending him and his sister Paisley cards every couple of weeks. Although, I must admit, I have been slacking for the past few weeks. When things opened up towards the end of June, my daughter came down with the kids for a visit and since they went back, I haven't sent any cards. I decided I better get back on it. One of Everett's favourite things to do is walk down their street to check the mail (with Mom or Dad of course) so it is even more exciting if there is some mail for him in the box.
Here are some pictures of the Shaving Foam technique:
I sprayed the shaving foam into a pie plate and smoothed it out. You have to use shaving foam as opposed to shaving gel as the gel doesn't puff up like the foam does. Then I added drops of ink refills. I used Pool Party, Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight.
I used a fork to mix the ink refills in to the shaving foam in a swirling motion so the colours would be in a swirly pattern.
This picture is very out of focus but you will still get what I am doing. I have laid my piece of Whisper White cardstock on top of the shaving foam. I pressed it gently into the foam and then slowly lifted it off. This is where the messy part comes in. You need to wipe the shaving foam off of the cardstock. I just used some paper towels. The cardstock dries really quickly and your cardstock smells really nice!
Here is a picture of the finished card.
On my piece of Whisper White cardstock that I had done the shaving foam technique I stamped many of the images from the Whale Done stamp set. I stamped the kelp in Just Jade, the turtle in Shaded Spruce, the bubbles in Misty Moonlight, coral in Calypso Coral, jelly fish in Balmy Blue and the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I matted this piece on a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock and then added this to a Pool Party card base. I wanted to add some ribbon but it didn't work with this card. For those of you that know me, you know that I need to add ribbon to my cards. It didn't look right with this card though. I hope Everett will understand. I know he will like this card. Last summer we all went to the Vancouver Aquarium and they loved it!
What I used for today's card:
I hope you enjoyed today's card. Give the shaving foam technique a try. It is a lot of fun, just a little messy though. You can use any colours of ink refills you have or you could try using liquid food colouring if you don't have any ink refills. I haven't tried to use food colouring but it might work just fine.
Thanks for stopping by. Stay healthy and keep creating!
