Challenge Card

Today's card was made for the As You See It challenge. You can check them out here http://www.asyouseeitchallenge.com/.

I absolutely love these colours so I had to partake in this challenge. When I saw this challenge, I immediately knew I wanted to do an emboss resist technique. The next dilemma was which stamp to use. I first started with the Poinsettia Petals stamp but then I noticed that one of the design team gals had used this set so I decided not to. I chose Forever Blossoms instead. It was refreshing to make something that was not Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas but that is all I've been working on so this was a nice break.

I stamped the large flower image onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Versamark ink. I added Whisper White embossing powder and heated it to melt. Once cooled, I started sponging on my ink colours. I used Pear Pizzazz on the leaves and stems and then added some Flirty Flamingo to most of the flowers. I filled in the rest of the white space using Petal Pink. Then I added a very light sponging of Basic Gray on the edges all around the piece of cardstock. I then used a tissue to wipe any ink off of the embossed image so the white would pop more. I matted this on to a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.

I used  Thick Whisper White cardstock for my card base. On top of this I used a piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock that I embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder. This was added to the card base using Tombo multi purpose glue. I added my sponged piece to the Flirty Flamingo layer using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment from the stamp set Here's a Card using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. This was my qualifying black colour. I stamped this onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and cut it out using a die from the Tasteful Labels die set. This was added to the card using a combination of Tombo glue and dimensionals. I felt there was something missing from the card at this point. I tried various combinations of ribbon but it just wasn't working for me. I then added a few Elegant Faceted Gems and was pleased with that.

  1. Lovely card, Terry! I agree, it's nice to have a bit of a break from the Christmas cards from time to time! I love what you did with your sponging and even the bit of gray you managed to fit in with it. Thanks for joining us at As You See It Challenges!
