Snailed It Waterfall Card

Hello my friends! I hope you are all doing well. I have not been able to get into my craft room for a few days so it felt good to get back in there yesterday. Last weekend I participated in an all day Facebook Live presentation from other demonstrators across Canada. It is very similar to the day long presentation from back in October. This time the focus was on the new January to June Mini Catalogue. There were challenges to do if you wanted to. I love a challenge so I did as many as I could.

Today's card is a product from one of those challenges. The challenge was to do a waterfall card. I haven't done one of these cards for ages so I was excited to do it.

Here is a picture of the front of the card:

And here are pictures of the various images as the waterfall part is pulled down.

I started with a Bermuda Bay card base. I added a mat of Real Red cardstock and on top of that I added a piece of DSP from the Snail Mail DSP package.

For the waterfall portion of my card, I used a piece of Real Red cardstock. I used Bermuda Bay cardstock for the pieces that attach to the waterfall piece. On top of the Bermuda Bay cardstock I used Basic White cardstock that I stamped various images from the Snailed It stamp set. I used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp my images and then coloured them in using my Stampin' Blends. I used Daffodil Delight, Petal Pink, Real Red, Bermuda Bay and Pool Party Stampin' Blends.

On the inside portion of my waterfall, I used a sentiment from the Happy Thoughts stamp set and a couple images from the Kangaroo and Company stamp set. I used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp these and the same Stampin' Blends to colour them in. I punched a hole in the bottom of this piece and tied a piece of Whisper White Seam Binding ribbon that I coloured with my Real Red Stampin' Blend. This ribbon is the piece that you pull down to make the waterfall slide.

I also added some of the new Resin Hearts Embellishments to my card. I added two white ones on the panel that holds down the waterfall portion and I added one red heart to the top panel. These little hearts are so stinking cute!

What I used for today's card:

Snailed It Stamp

Kangaroo & Company Set

Happy Thoughts Stamp

Bermuda Bay Cardstock

Real Red Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Snail Mail Designer Series Paper

Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon

Resin Hearts Embellishments

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink

Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends

Petal Pink Stampin' Blends

Real Red Stampin' Blends

Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blends

Pool Party Stampin' Blends

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. It was really fun for me to make. This stamp set is so adorable and I haven't done a waterfall card for years. The weather is certainly perfect for hanging out in the craft room. I was really glad I didn't have to go anywhere today or yesterday so I could work on some of these new challenges.

Stay well and keep creating!

A Touch of Ink

Hello my friends! So today I am going to be sharing two simpler cards using the same set. I used the A Touch of Ink stamp set that is a level 2 Sale-a-bration item. This means you can get this set for free when you spend $120. It has really cute images and the sentiments are also very versatile.

On the first card I stamped the hummingbird and the flower images onto a small piece of  Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The entire flower image did not fit on my small piece of cardstock so I just stamped the top portion of the image. I then used my Stampin' Blends to colour in the images. I used Old Olive and Petal Pink. I then used our new Blending Brushes to add some Balmy Blue ink to fill in the background so it would not be too much white on white.

I also stamped my sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a small piece of Basic White cardstock. I added Balmy Blue using the blending brushes to the sentiment piece as well.

I used a Basic White Thick card base. I then added a layer of Basic White cardstock that I embossed using the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder. I wrapped a piece of Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon around the embossed piece and tied it into a bow. I added this to my card base using dimensionals I then added my stamped image and my sentiment to the card front using dimensionals.

What I used for this card:

A Touch of Ink Stamp

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Balmy Blue Classic Stampin' Pad

Blending Brushes

Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon

Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder

For the second card, I used the A Touch of Ink stamp set as well.

I stamped the flower and hummingbird images using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on to a piece of Basic White cardstock. I stamped the flower image three times and positioned the hummingbird so it looked like it was getting some nectar from one of the flowers. This stamp set is a two-step stamp set. This means that there is an outline of the image and then a second stamp that fills in the images. I stamped the second step of the flower image using Flirty Flamingo ink. For the hummingbird, I inked up the second step stamp in Granny Apple Green ink and then used a sponge dauber to add Poppy Parade ink to the belly area and then stamped it down.

I used a Basic Black card base. On top of this, I added a piece of Basic White cardstock. Before I attached the Basic White piece, I stamped my sentiment in the lower right corner using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

I added a Basic Black mat to my stamped piece and then added this to my card front using dimensionals.

To finish off the card, I added some Clear Epoxy Drops.

What I used for this card:

A Touch of Ink Stamp

Basic Black Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Flirty Flamingo Classic Stampin' Pad

Granny Apple Green Classic Stampin' Pad

Poppy Parade Classic Stampin' Pad

Frosted and Clear Epoxy Dots

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed these cards. They are a little simpler but I think they are still fun. Sometimes simpler is better. It looks like we will be having perfect weather for staying inside and making cards.

Stay well and keep creating!

Corner Bouquet Faux Linen

Hello my friends! Well it looks like Winter has made a big return to Kelowna. It is really cold here now, and not sunny. I suppose it was bound to happen. The card I made for today again has flowers to try to brighten up our winter days.

Last week I was wrapping a gift to send to a friend and I was using some tissue paper. This reminded me of the faux linen technique which I haven't done for years. I decided that I needed to give it another go.

I used the Corner Bouquet stamp that is a free Sale-a-bration item when you spend $60. I used the marker to stamp technique to stamp the flower image onto a piece of tissue paper. I coloured the stamp using three different Stampin' Write Markers. I used Bumblebee from the 2020-2022 In Colour Stampin' Write Marker set and Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green from the Brights Stampin' Write Marker set.  I then huffed on the stamp to re-moisten the ink on the stamp using my breath and then stamped on the tissue paper. Once the image was dry, I crumpled up the tissue paper into a tight little ball. I carefully opened up my crumpled ball of tissue and lightly flattened out my image. I covered a piece of Basic White cardstock in glue from a glue stick. Then I laid the tissue on top of the glue and very lightly pressed it down. You don't want to smooth out the wrinkles because that is part of the look.

I wrapped a piece of Bumblebee Gingham ribbon around the bottom of  my faux linen piece and secured it at the back. I stamped my sentiment from the Hydrangea Haven stamp set onto a piece of Basic White cardstock using Sahara Sand ink. I cut this out using the little label die from the Hydrangea Dies set. (I love this little label die!) I tied the label to my Bumblebee ribbon using a piece of Linen Thread and tied it into a bow.

I used a Sahara Sand card base for this card. On top of this, I added a layer of Granny Apple Green cardstock. On top of this I added another layer of Sahara Sand cardstock that I embossed using the Tasteful Texture 3D embossing folder. I added my faux linen piece on top of the embossed cardstock using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Corner Bouquet Stamp

Hydrangea Haven Bundle

Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder

Sahara Sand Cardstock

Granny Apple Green Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Sahara Sand Classic Stampin' Pad

2020-2022 In Color Stampin' Write Markers

Brights Stampin' Write Markers

Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon

Linen Thread

Tissue Paper

Glue Stick

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I made one similar to this years ago using different markers, stamps and cardstock so it was a lot of fun to try to recreate it. Have you ever remade a card you made years ago but updated it by using new stamps or embellishments? It's a great way to repurpose a favourite technique or layout!

Stay well and keep creating!

Hydrangea Haven

Hello my friends! I hope you are all doing well. It has been very sunny and warm here lately which is quite atypical for winter in Kelowna. Usually it is grey and cloudy all winter but I feel like we've had quite a lot more sun than we normally get in the winter. And it's been warm! I love it. It makes me feel like Spring is on the way.

Today's card makes me feel like Spring as well. The colours are bright and happy and flowers always make me think of Spring. I used the Hydrangea Haven stamp and dies bundle to create today's card. Hydrangeas also remind me of my Auntie that sadly passed away this summer. She used to live on Vancouver Island and there were zillions of hydrangeas there in all different colours. My favourite was a purplish-blue one that was huge.

I stamped the hydrangea on a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I then stamped the flower top using Gorgeous Grape ink that I stamped off once. I stamped the stem and leaves using Granny Apple Green ink. After I stamped this image, I cut it out using the Stitched Rectangle dies. I layered this on top of a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I then layered this on to a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock that I cut out using the next size up of the Stitched Rectangle dies. I wrapped a piece of  Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon around this piece and tied it into a knot. This ribbon ties very nicely and holds the knot or bow really well. Some times ribbon is really slippery so it is hard to work with but this ribbon is not like that at all.

I used a small piece of Whisper White cardstock to stamp the sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I also stamped the tiny leaf and flower image on to this piece as well. I used Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green ink that I stamped off so it would be a lighter shade. I then used the little label die that is in the Hydrangea Haven bundle to cut this out. I tied it to the knot in my Gorgeous Grape ribbon using the white baker's twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo. I also used a dimensional to attach it to my card so that it would stay in place.

I used a Gorgeous Grape card base for this card. On top of this I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I matted with a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I added the pieces with the hydrangea to this using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Hydrangea Haven Bundle

Stitched Rectangle Dies

Gorgeous Grape Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Whisper White Cardstock (No Longer Available)

Gorgeous Grape Classic Stampin' Pad

Granny Apple Green Classic Stampin' Pad

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon

Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card and it brightened your day. Is it bright and sunny where you are? I find it amazing how the sunshine improves my mood immediately. If I feel a little blue, the sun just perks me up right away. How about you?

Stay well and keep creating!

Art Gallery

Hello my friends! Today's card was inspired by the many beautiful creations that I saw from our Blog Hop on Saturday. I hope you all enjoyed it. There were so many talented ladies from all over the world. This will be a monthly Blog Hop so keep watch for next month's. Today's card was created for my friend Angie who is the creator of our Blog Hop. I had some technical difficulties getting my post working correctly and Angie spent hours working with me on Saturday figuring out why it wasn't working. We finally got it all figured out and everything works great. I wanted to send Angie a card to let her know how much I appreciated her help.

I wanted to use the Art Gallery Bundle especially because I wanted to use the new Gilded Leafing. It is so pretty and so easy to use.

To create the flower, I stamped the more solid image of the flower using Poppy Parade ink on Flirty Flamingo cardstock. I stamped the second part of the flower image over top of the first part using Versamark ink. I then added a new product called Heat & Stick powder. It works like embossing powder in that you add it to your Versamark ink and then heat it to melt it. Unlike embossing powder though, it becomes an adhesive once it melts.

To this I added my Gilded Leafing flakes by just pressing the flakes right on top of the Heat & Stick. I will be honest with you here - they are a little messy to work with. I poured a very small amount into a plastic container with a snap lid and worked with those flakes rather than from the original container. It feels like the leafing flakes expand once they are out of the jar. I have a heat vent that blows right above my craft table so I had to be careful that the heat didn't come on while I was working with this. I think it is totally worth the small struggle because it is so beautiful. Once the Gilded Leafing flakes are attached to the Heat & Stick, it is really stuck on well. There are lots of other flakes stuck to the flower due to static electricity. I just used a tissue to rub off the excess flakes and put them back into the container. I didn't want to waste a single flake of this lovely gold. Once I was sure that I had all of the excess rubbed off, I used the corresponding die to cut out the flower.

I stamped the stem and leaves stamp onto Old Olive cardstock using Mossy Meadow ink. I cut this out using the corresponding die from the bundle.

I used Poppy Parade for my card base. On top of this I added a layer of Basic Gray cardstock at an angle. On top of this I added a piece of designer paper from the Fine Art Floral DSP set. I placed this at an angle opposite to the Basic Gray cardstock. On top of this, I added a strip of Whisper White cardstock that I embossed using the new Painted Texture 3D embossing folder. I added this to the card front using dimensionals. I added my flower on top of the embossed cardstock using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment from the bundle using Basic Gray ink on a small strip of Whisper White cardstock. I used one of the dies in the bundle to cut out the mat for my sentiment. I used Basic Gray cardstock for the mat piece. I added this to the left side of my card using a dimensional on the left side and a small dab of Tombo multipurpose glue on the right side.

What I used for today's card:

Art Gallery Bundle

Fine Art Floral DSP

Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder

Gilded Leafing

Heat & Stick Powder

Poppy Parade Cardstock

Basic Gray Cardstock

Whisper White Cardstock (No longer Available)

Old Olive Cardstock

Flirty Flamingo Cardstock

Poppy Parade Classic Stampin' Pad

Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad

Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin' Pad

Versamark Pad

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I really hope my friend Angie likes it. She was so incredibly patient with me while we were trying to figure out why my blog wasn't linking up properly. I think she was also working with a couple other people at the same time so she had a lot going on. I am very thankful that she figured out the issue and we were able to get things working properly. I like to send cards to let people know how much they are appreciated. Do you have someone in your life that could use a card? Maybe you should send one to them....

Stay well and keep creating!

Friends are Like Seashells

Hello my friends! I am really excited to share today's card with you. I am using a new bundle from the new January to June catalogue called Friends are Like Seashells. It is a gorgeous set! If you love the sea or shells you will definitely want this set.

I created a beach scene for today's card. I started with a piece of Pool Party cardstock. I added a strip of Sahara Sand cardstock along the bottom that I tore along the top edge so that it looked like a sandy beach. On top of this I added sea shells, sea weed, a sand dollar and a star fish. I used our new Pearlescent Specialty Paper that I embossed using the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder. This paper is absolutely stunning! It really looks like pearl. Once I embossed the paper, I cut the images out using the Seaside Seashells Dies which is in the bundle. It is a large die that cuts out all of the images at the same time. I was a little concerned that it might be hard to line up the images but it is super easy. The images fit into the die perfectly. If you don't want to use it as one large image, it is really simple to snip them apart.

After I had the images all snipped apart, I used the blending brushes to add colour to them. The colours I used are Old Olive, Balmy Blue, Pool Party, Highland Heather, Blushing Bride, Soft Sea Foam, Calypso Coral and Petal Pink. The pearlescent paper blended so beautifully. The sand dollar and starfish were stamped on the pearlescent paper using our classic stampin' pads. I did find that it took quite a while for the ink to dry because this paper is so shiny. It's totally worth it though because this paper is so pretty. Once the images were dry, I used the corresponding dies to cut them out.

I added my seaweed, shells, sand dollar and starfish on my Pool Party piece using Tombo multipurpose glue and dimensionals. I then matted this on to a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock and then added this to a Sahara Sand card base.

What I used for today's card:

Friends Are Like Seashells Bundle

Seashells 3D Embossing Folder

Pearlescent Specialty Paper

Blending Brushes

Sahara Sand Cardstock

Pool Party Cardstock

Bermuda Bay Cardstock

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad

Balmy Blue Classic Stampin' Pad

Pool Party Classic Stampin' Pad

Highland Heather Classic Stampin' Pad

Blushing Bride Classic Stampin' Pad

Soft Sea Foam Classic Stampin' Pad

Calypso Coral Classic Stampin' Pad

Petal Pink Classic Stampin' Pad

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. This is a beautiful set for all of us beach lovers. I am looking forward to being able to travel to warm, sandy beaches with seashells one day. In the meantime, I will enjoy my beach cards.

Stay well and keep creating!

Something New Blog Hop

Hello my friends! You are receiving this extra post from me today because I have joined a Blog Hop that my friend Angie McKenzie organized. If you click on all of the participating links at the bottom you will see lots of amazing ideas.

The theme for this Blog Hop is Something New. I used a new stamp from the January to June catalogue called Baby Pull Toys. My card is also something new as it is a welcome baby card for a friend whose daughter is having a new baby. This will be their second daughter and the girls will be 13 months apart.

I decided to do a slimline card because I wanted to use all three images in the stamp set and it would have been too tight on a regular A2 card. I stamped the three pull toy images (giraffe, elephant and lion) onto some Shimmery White cardstock using Black Staz On ink. I cut them out individually using a stitched circle die from the Stitched Shapes Dies set. I coloured the images using my watercolour pencils and a Blender pen. I matted the finished images onto a scalloped circle that I cut from Blushing Bride cardstock using the Layering Circles Dies set.

I used the heart stamp from the set to randomly stamp all over a piece of Whisper White cardstock using Blushing Bride ink. I matted this piece onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock. I then wrapped a piece of Blushing Bride Metallic Ribbon around these two pieces and secured it at the back. I attached the pull toy images on top of this using dimensionals. I was hoping it would look like the toys were sitting on top of the ribbon. I then added this to a Whisper White Thick card base using dimensionals.

I also used the Blushing Bride Metallic ribbon to tie a small bow which I attached to the card front using glue dots.

I stamped the sentiment using Black Staz On ink on a scrap of Shimmery White cardstock. I cut this out by using a die from the Ornate Frames Dies set. I cut the outer mat using the die on some Basic Gray cardstock. I set the die over top of the sentiment and traced the inside of the die using a pencil. I then used my paper snips to cut it out. I layered this on top of the Basic Gray piece and attached it to the card front using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Baby Pull Toys Stamp

Blushing Bride Metallic Ribbon

Whisper White Cardstock (no longer available)

Whisper White Thick Cardstock (no longer available)

Shimmery White Cardstock

Basic Gray Cardstock

Blushing Bride Cardstock

Jet Black Staz On Pad

Blushing Bride Classic Stampin' Pad

Blender Pens

Stitched Shapes Dies

Layering Circles Dies

Ornate Frames Dies

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed my card and will check out the other posts. Just click on the Next blog link below and you will be able to see the other posts.

Garden Wishes

Hello my friends! Today's card uses a new stamp set from the new catalogue called Garden Wishes. It is a gorgeous set that features dandelions and has coordinating dies. I wanted to challenge myself to use a colour that I normally am not drawn to. The colour I chose to use is Terracotta Tile. It is a beautiful colour, just not one I usually pick first. Part of the reason I chose this colour, besides being one I haven't used very much, is that I have the coordinating ribbon from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo pack.

I made a frame for sponging using an extra piece of cardstock that was the same size as the Whisper White cardstock I was going to stamp on. I cut  an oval out of the center of the cardstock using the Layering Ovals Die set. I laid the frame piece on top of my Whisper White cardstock and using the new blending brushes, I added Terracotta Tile ink to the inside of the oval. I made the colour darker on the outer edges of the oval and lighter towards the center. When I removed the frame there was a lovely inked oval. I love this technique as it makes the oval really pop.

I stamped the dandelion image using Black Staz On ink. I positioned the image so that it was on the left side of the inked oval and was slightly outside of the oval. I also stamped the sentiment using Black Staz on ink. I positioned the sentiment up the upper right "corner" of the oval so that it also peeked outside of the oval.

I matted my stamped piece of cardstock onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I then tied my Terracotta Tile ribbon around this and tied it into a bow. I added this card front to my Terracotta Tile card base using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Garden Wishes Stamp

Terracotta Tile Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Whisper White Cardstock (no longer available)

Layering Ovals Dies

Jet Black Staz On Pad

Terracotta Tile Classic Stampin' Pad

Blending Brushes

Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo Pack

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. It is more of a simple design but I think it looks pretty elegant. Do you have a favourite colour that you tend to use more than others? I'm really glad I was able to get out of my comfort zone and use Terracotta Tile to create a card. I am really pleased with how it turned out.

Stay well and keep creating!

Trimming the Town

Hello my friends! How is your 2021 going so far? Mine has been very quiet but that's fine as it is giving me plenty of opportunity to play with my new things from the January to June catalogue. The catalogue as well as the new Sale-a-bration catalogue go live on January 5th. I am very excited about all of the new goodies!

Today's project (not a card) was inspired by something I saw done by fellow demonstrator Jakelle Cornell Hoffman. It was on our Demonstrator Only Facebook page. Jakelle made a book for keeping the Christmas cards she received this year. I really liked what she made but the only thing I didn't like is that she used a binder ring to keep the cards in the book and I didn't want to punch a hole in my cards. I received so many beautiful cards from friends and family this year. Last year I kept all of my Christmas cards up until my birthday last month. My daughters think I am crazy but I love cards so much it is hard to take them down. I will now have somewhere to keep my Christmas cards and I won't need to leave them up all year - maybe just until Easter.....

This is a view of the top of the box:

And this is a view of the side of the box:

So today's project is a box made especially for storing my Christmas cards. I made it to fit the largest card I received which was from my Auntie Jo. I can't wait until we can all get together again so we can go visit her and her husband on the Island.

I used the chip board that comes in our packages of designer series paper to make the box. I wanted it to be a littler sturdier than just using DSP or cardstock. The chip board for the box measured 8.5 X 11 inches and I scored at 1.5 inch on all four sides. The lid was 10.5 X 7.5 inches and I scored at 1 inch on all four sides.

I used the Trimming the Town DSP to decorate the box. I used the snowflake design for lid and the paper with the variety of sentiments for the box itself.

I made a Whisper White "snow bank" and added it to the bottom portion of the lid. I cut a strip of Whisper White cardstock and used my paper snips to cut a snow bank on the one edge. I fussy cut a couple of the houses from another sheet of DSP and added them to the snow bank. I also cut a few trees from the same page and added those beside the houses. I cut two sentiments from the page of sentiments and added them to the top of the lid. The two that I chose were "From Our Home to Yours" and "Have a Merry Little Christmas". I also added the year 2020 that I cut from Real Red cardstock using the retired die set Little Numbers. For someone that does not enjoy fussy cutting, there is a lot of it in this project! And I just realized that there is absolutely no stamping on this project.

What I used for today's project:

Real Red Cardstock

Whisper White Cardstock (no longer available)

Trimming the Town DSP (no longer available)

Little Numbers Dies (retired)

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed todays project. What do you do with your Christmas cards that you receive? Do you save them or do you recycle them after the holidays are over? Leave me a comment and let me know. Maybe you are like me and leave your cards up all year long.....

Stay well and keep creating!
