Hello my friends! Today's card is a very special birthday card for an incredible lady, Jo. I met her when her daughter started coming to my stamp group. Her daughter is pretty amazing as well but Jo is unbelievable. She is going to be celebrating her 105th birthday tomorrow!! She is still sharp as a tack and is pretty active. She walks every day. I am so inspired by her. I have to share a little story with you here. This past summer, I had an ingrown toe nail on my left foot. It was bearable as long as I didn't have to wear socks or shoes. I knew I needed to have something done to my toe but with my daughter's wedding coming up, I didn't want to do it. The pain I knew was better than the pain I didn't know. After the wedding, I went to my doctor and he cut out the ingrown toe nail. The pain was unbearable! I was very whiney and complained a lot. In my defense though, flip flop season was long gone and I had to wear shoes and socks. Jo has this done on a fairly regular basis and walks out of the office like nothing happened. I don't know how she does it. She is one tough lady!
So for today's card I had to do something special. I made a larger card than our usual A2 size. I started with a layer of Basic White and then on top of that, I added a layer of Old Olive cardstock. On top of the Old Olive cardstock I added a piece of DSP from the Fine Art Floral DSP package. This DSP is absolutely gorgeous. There is also a specially designed gold embossed acetate sheet that layers perfectly over top of this Fine Art Floral DSP. I added a piece of this Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate on top of my floral DSP. I then wrapped a piece of Whisper White ribbon around these layers and tied it into a bow. The ribbon is from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon pack. I then attached this to a Petal Pink card base.
I stamped my sentiment onto a piece of Basic White cardstock using Versamark ink. I then added gold embossing powder to this and heated it to melt. Once it cooled, I cut it out using a die from the Hippo & Friends Dies set. I matted this sentiment piece onto a piece of gold foil that I cut using the next larger size die from the same set. I added this to the card front using dimensionals. I also added some Champagne rhinestones to my sentiment piece and randomly to the front of my card.
I also added an extra layer to the inside of my card. Since the front had so many layers, it would have been too heavy in the front if I didn't add the extra layer. I added a piece of Old Olive under my Basic White cardstock for the inside of my card.
What I used for today's card:
Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I hope Jo has a very Happy Birthday! Can you believe that she is 105? That is impressive. You are an amazing lady Jo!!
Stay well and keep creating!
