Healing Hugs

Hello my friends! Well unfortunately I didn't get very many pictures of cards emailed to me but I did get some. I did the draw on Sunday and the big winner is Sharon M! I know she will be excited and I hope she enjoys her big prize. Maybe she will let me take a picture of her with her goodies so I can share it on the blog. That way everyone will see what they missed out on and will want to do whatever they need to to get in on the next draws. Congratulations Sharon!!

Today's card was made a couple of months ago. I wanted to share it now as the Healing Hugs stamp set is going to be retiring at the end of  this annual catalogue which is May 3rd. I needed to make a get well card for a friend that had surgery. I love the Healing Hugs set for this purpose. It has great sentiments and with the DistInktive style of the stamp, the images have incredible depth.

I started with a Blackberry Bliss card base. On top of this, I added a layer of Basic White cardstock. I embossed the right side using one of the embossing folders from the Greenery set. On the left side, I added a strip of DSP from the Dandy Garden DSP package. Then I wrapped a piece of Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon around this and tied it into a bow.

On another piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the flower image from Healing Hugs using Blackberry Bliss ink. I also stamped the leaf image twice, using Mossy Meadow ink. I cut this out using an oval from the Layering Ovals Dies set. I also cut out a Blackberry Bliss scalloped oval and matted the flower image on top of this. I added this to the card front using dimensionals. Unfortunately the Layering Ovals Dies will also be retiring. I am very sad about this because I use these dies A LOT!

I stamped the sentiment using Mossy Meadow ink onto a strip of Basic White cardstock.. I matted this onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock that I cut out using a die from the Stitched so Sweetly Dies set. I added this to the card front using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Healing Hugs Stamp

Layering Ovals Dies

Stitched So Sweetly Dies

Blackberry Bliss Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper

Greenery Embossing Folders

Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon

Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin' Pad

Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin' Pad

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I really hope my friend likes it and it brings her some cheer while she heals from her surgery.

Congratulations again Sharon. I hope you like your goodies. Thanks for sharing your cards with me.

Stay well and keep creating!

Using up my Scraps

Hello my friends! I hope you are all doing well. I have bee struggling with my back and neck the past couple of weeks. This happens every so often for me and I need to get a tune up. I have been spending a lot of time at the chiropractor. As some of you know, I started seeing a new chiropractor recently and he recommended I have a massage. I had a one yesterday and it was totally different from any kind of massage I have ever had before. It was amazing! I have so much more movement than I had. If you are suffering and would like to check them out, just let me know. I am so impressed with my results.

Anyway, we are here for cards so on to today's card. I was prepping for my monthly card class kit and had some strips of beautiful DSP left over. I almost threw them into the recycle bin but decided I needed to use them on a card instead.

The DSP I used is from the Butterfly Bijou package which unfortunately is not available any more. It was so popular that it sold out right away. These little strips were all that was left over from cutting for my class. I attached the strips onto a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock. I started in the upper left corner and spaced the strips about one eighth of an inch apart. I made sure the strips went right off the edges. After I had the entire piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock covered with strips of DSP, I trimmed the pieces that were hanging over the edges. It makes your scissors pretty messy but I think it is worth it because it is a fun design.

I then matted this piece onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then attached this to a Just Jade card base.

I stamped my sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink onto a piece of Basic White cardstock. The sentiment is from the So Sentimental stamp set. I cut it out using the Layering Circles dies. I cut out a Basic Black  scalloped circle using the next size up in the Layering Circles dies. I attached these together and then added this to my card front using dimensionals.

I added a little knot of Misty Moonlight ribbon to the bottom of my sentiment. I have a very difficult time making a card without ribbon so this is why I added this little piece here.

What I used for today's card:

Just Jade Cardstock

Misty Moonlight Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Butterfly Bijou DSP (no longer available)

Misty Moonlight 2020-2022 In Colour Ribbon

Layering Circles Dies

So Sentimental Stamp Set

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. This is a great way to use up scraps of DSP or cardstock. If you are anything like me, I save every little piece of DSP because you just never know if you might need it. Are you a paper hoarder or saver? Give this card a try. You can cut your strips into wider pieces if you like, this is just what I had left over.

Don't forget to comment on all of the blog posts in March to get entered into the draw AND email me a picture of a card you have made to get into the draw for my Happy Blogaversary draw. You have until Saturday, March 27th to email me a picture of a card and until the 31st to comment on the blog posts. I'm excited to see all of your cards!!

Stay well and keep creating!

Gift Card Holders

Hello my friends! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Saturday was the first day of Spring and the weather was a real mixed bag here. Perfect weather for crafting! Saturday was also my one year blogaversary. I started this blog one year ago and it has been so much fun. Did you get the bonus post on Saturday? There are a couple more chances to get your name in to the draw for an amazing prize!

So on to today's card....it is actually not a card at all. I will be sharing another type of gift card holder. This one was inspired by a small box that I received years ago with a gift card and small gift in it. I kept this adorable little box thinking I would re-use it for something. Obviously that didn't happen. I decided to take the box apart so I could recreate it and turn it into a gift card holder. That's what paper crafters do. I had to adjust the dimensions to make it the size I wanted but I am quite pleased with what I came up with.

Here is the one for the girls:

And the one for the boys:

Here is a picture of them all together:

And here is a picture of the back where the fold flap is:

I had to make a total of four - one for each of my big kids. I put a Starbucks card in them for Easter. I didn't decorate the boxes to look too Easterish because I thought they could re-use the gift card holder and if it was total Easter the chances of it being used again would be very small.

For the girls I started with Petal Pink cardstock. I used a piece that was 7 X 9 inches. On the long side, I scored at 2, 2.25, 5.5 and 5.75. I scored on the short side at 1, 1.25, 5.75 and 6. I folded along all score lines and then cut out the four corners. I used the Detailed Trio Punch to round the corners on the flap that folds over.

I layered some DSP from the Peony Garden DSP pack on to a mat of Basic White and then added that to the three sides of the gift card holder. On the flap and the back, I added a very tiny magnet between the Petal Pink cardstock and the Basic White cardstock. I ordered the magnets from Amazon and they are very thin (1mm thick) but are very strong.

On the front side, I decorated it a little more. I stamped my sentiment using Petal Pink on Basic White cardstock. I used my sentiment from the Beauty Abounds stamp set. I cut this out using the Layering Oval Dies. I matted this onto the next size up scalloped oval in Petal Pink cardstock and then matted onto the next size up oval. I added a swoosh of Petal Pink Organdy Striped ribbon to the center of the front side using glue dots. I then added my sentiment piece on top of the ribbon using dimensionals. To finish off the box, I added some Opal Rounds and that is the gift card holder.

The ones for the boys are basically identical to the ones for the girls except that I used Gray Granite cardstock in place of the Petal Pink cardstock. I used the same DSP as the Gray Granite design was on the reverse side of the Petal Pink DSP I used on the girls gift card holders. Also, instead of the Opal Rounds, I used the Frosted Epoxy Droplets to complete it.

What I used for today's project:

Peony Garden DSP

Gray Granite Cardstock

Petal Pink Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Detailed Trio Punch

Layering Ovals Dies

Petal Pink Classic Stampin' Pad

Gray Granite Classic Stampin' Pad

Beauty Abounds Stamp

Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon

Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon

Opal Rounds

Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this project. It is nice to have a different way to present a gift card. I'm sure the big kids will enjoy them. It has been a tradition in our family that the kids get a gold Lindt bunny every Easter so of course they will also get that along with their gift card and a few other little things. I love keeping these traditions going. Usually we would all get together for a big family dinner but unfortunately we aren't able to do that this year. What are your traditions for Easter?

Stay well and keep creating!

Happy Blogaversary to Me!

Hello my friends! I have decided to share a bonus blog post today as it is the one year anniversary of my very first blog post. I am so excited that I have been posting for a whole year. I started with only posting once a week but in January of this year, I started posting twice a week. There have also been a few extra posts when I partake in a blog hop. When I do the blog hop, it is generally the second Saturday of the month. You will have to read all the way to the end of today's post to see how to get entered in my blogaversary draw.

So for today's card, I am using the brand new Butterfly Brilliance stamp. It is a beautiful stamp set with a coordinating die. I am only using the stamp set for today's card though. There was some beautiful DSP but sadly, it has already sold out. It was going to be available until the end of April but it was so amazingly beautiful it went really fast.

I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock. I stamped the butterfly image on this cardstock using Versamark ink. I then added white embossing powder and heated it to melt. Once the butterflies were cooled I sponged on many different inks using the Blending Brushes. I have to say that using the blending brushes made this so easy. The colours blended so smoothly without any blobs of colour where I didn't want it. These blending brushes are amazing! My plan was to make a rainbow colour pattern like there is on one of the pieces of DSP in the bundle. The colours I used (from the lower left corner to the upper right corner) are So Saffron, Mango Melody, Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride, Magenta Madness, Mint Macaron, Just Jade and Misty Moonlight. After I had blended the inks, I used a piece of paper towel to rub the ink off of the butterflies so they would show up better. This technique is called Emboss/Resist and is another one of my favourites.

I matted the butterfly piece on to a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock and then added these on to a Basic White Thick card base.

I attached a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock on to a piece of Foam Adhesive sheet. I cut my sentiment out of this using the Well Written Dies. This created the entire sentiment being popped up as though it is all on a dimensional, which technically it is. I placed the sentiment at an angle which runs in the opposite direction to the direction that the inks were sponged. I thought it looked better this way.

I felt the card needed a little something so I added some Opal Rounds that I coloued using my Misty Moonlight Stampn' Blends. I really like how these turned out. When you move the card, you can still see the shimmery of the opal through the misty moonlight. You probably can't see it in a picture but in real life it is there.

What I used for today's card:

Butterfly Brilliance Stamp

Versamark Pad

So Saffron Classic Stampin' Pad

Mango Melody Classic Stampin' Pad

Calypso Coral Classic Stampin' Pad

Blushing Bride Classic Stampin' Pad

Magenta Madness Classic Stampin' Pad

Mint Macaron Classic Stampin' Pad

Just Jade Classic Stampin' Pad

Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin' Pad

White Stampin' Emboss Powder

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Misty Moonlight Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Opal Rounds

Misty Moonlight Stampin' Blends

Foam Adhesive Sheets

Well Written Dies

Blending Brushes

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed this bonus post with a happy birthday card for my blog. One year of sharing cards and life experiences with you!

Also thank you all for supporting me on this journey this past year and I hope you will continue to follow me in the upcoming year. Keep commenting! It makes me so happy to read your comments. You will especially want to comment during the month of March as I will be doing a draw for an awesome prize. Your name will go in to the draw for every comment that you make during the month so obviously, the more times you comment, the better your chances.

For today's draw I want you to share a card with me. I really miss our in person classes because many of you would bring the cards they are working on to share with everyone. Take a picture of a card you have made and email it to me. Send me a comment on this blog post saying you emailed me a picture of a card. I will give you until March 27th to send me a picture of a card and I will do the draw on the 29th. I will announce the winner on my blog post on March 30th. I hope I get A LOT of pictures of cards emailed to me. Just to clarify, you will only get one entry even if you send me 50 email pictures! Of course, I would love it if you want to send me 50 pictures of cards.

Looking forward to your comments and cards!

Art Gallery Bundle

Hello my friends! I hope you are all enjoying this lovely Spring weather we are having. Did you see the amazing Spring/Easter projects from the blog hop on Saturday? Lots of amazing ideas!

I went for a walk along the boardwalk again on the weekend. This time I brought some seeds to feed the ducks. They loved it! There was a couple that would eat out of my hand. They were so sassy, they kept pecking at the bag of seeds. Lots of fun!

Today's card is an anniversary card for my friend and downline, Kay. She has been on my team for two years so I need to celebrate her.

I used the Art Gallery Bundle to create Kay's card. I wanted to use this bundle because I know that she has this one and I wanted to give her some inspiration for using it.

I started by stamping the larger flower image in Flirty Flamingo ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. These stamps are a two step stamp. That means that you can stamp in two different colours and get depth in your image. I stamped the second part of the flower in Poppy Parade ink over top of the Flirty Flamingo.I used the corresponding die to cut out the large flower.

The smaller flowers have the flowers and stem all together on one stamp. I stamped the entire image in Flirty Flamingo on my scrap of Basic White and then added the Poppy Parade. I used the corresponding die to cut out the 4 larger flowers. I fussy cut the 6 little blossoms so I could add them as well.

On my card front piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the stems for both flowers using Old Olive ink. I added the flowers on top of the stems using dimensionals. I layered my white piece onto a mat of Old Olive cardstock and then on to a mat of Poppy Parade cardstock. I wrapped my ribbon around the bottom of this piece and secured it at the back. I tied a bow and then added it to the bottom of the larger flower using a glue dot. The ribbon I used is the Fine Art ribbon. It has some gorgeous gold flecks blended right in the ribbon. I added this to a Flirty Flamingo card base using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment from the Always in my Heart stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a scrap of Basic White cardstock. I fussy cut around the words and cut them apart so I could stack them instead of having them in one long row. I added the sentiment to my card front using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Art Gallery Bundle

Always in my Heart Stamp

Flirty Flamingo Cardstock

Poppy Parade Cardstock

Old Olive Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Flirty Flamingo Classic Stampin' Pad

Poppy Parade Classic Stampin' Pad

Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Fine Art Ribbon

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed this card. I also hope that Kay will like it and it will give her some inspiration. I am so thankful to have her on my team and I look forward to when we are able to get together in person again.

I think it is very fitting that I am sharing an anniversary card with you on this post as it will be posted on my one year blog anniversary. I cannot thank my friend Susanne enough for all of her help getting me started with the computer and technical stuff that I struggled with. I thought having a blog would just be sharing pretty cards but there is a lot more going on in the background that I had to learn. She was so patient with me and so willing to share her knowledge. I could never thank her enough.

Don't forget to leave a comment to get your name into the draw.

Stay well and keep creating!

Forever Blossoms

Hello my friends! I am really enjoying this Spring weather. The sunshine just makes me so happy. That is what inspired today's card. The other day I went for a walk along the lake with a friend and on the way back to her house we enjoyed seeing the new plants poking through in people's gardens. The colours I used remind me of Spring and this stamp set is the definition of Spring.

I stamped many of the individual blossoms using Basic Gray ink on Basic White cardstock. I coloured the flowers using Petal Pink Stampin' Blends. I then cut out each flower using the die from the bundle.

I also stamped the double leaf image, again using Basic Gray ink on Basic White cardstock. I used my Old Olive Stampin' Blends to colour the leaves and then I cut them out using the corresponding die.

I cut out the branch image using the die from the bundle and Soft Suede cardstock. I then adhered the branch onto a piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock using my Tombo multipurpose glue. I cut out three branches and placed them over the entire piece of cardstock. I then added the flowers on to the branches  using my Tombo glue. Once I was pleased with the flowers, I added the leaves. I cut some of the apart and used a single leaf in places. There is a single leaf stamp and die in this bundle but I already had these double leaves stamped, coloured and cut out so it was just easier to use them.

I layered the Soft Sea Foam piece onto a piece of Petal Pink cardstock and then layered this all onto a Basic White Thick card base.

To finish off the flowers, I added some Basic Jewel Pearls. I coloured the pearls with a So Saffron Stampin' Blend so they would look more like a flower center.

I stamped my sentiment from the Timeless Tulips stamp set using Basic Gray ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I used the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch to cut it out. The punch cuts out a larger image than what I wanted so I simply placed my piece back in to the punch and lined it up where I wanted it to be and then punched it at a smaller size. I added this to my card front using dimensionals.

Of course I had to add ribbon to my card. We do have some Petal Pink ribbon but it is quite a big wider than what I wanted. So to get over this hurdle, I used the White Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon and coloured it using my Petal Pink Stampin' Blends. I tied this ribbon into a bow and added it to my sentiment piece using a glue dot.

This card was made for my Auntie. I'm not sure if she follows my blog but hopefully if she sees this she will be pleased with the card when it arrives for Mother's Day.

What I used for today's card:

Forever Blossoms Stamp Set

Cherry Blossoms Dies

Timeless Tulips Stamp Set

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Petal Pink Cardstock

Soft Sea Foam Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Soft Suede Cardstock

Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad

Petal Pink Stampin' Blends

Old Olive Stampin' Blends

So Saffron Stampin' Blends

Pearl Basic Jewels

Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch

Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. Is it looking like Spring where you are? Don't forget to leave me a comment on today's post to get your name entered in the draw to win the prize. Your comment can be anything you would like to say. Do you think my Aunt will like this card?

Stay well and keep creating!

Anything Easter and/or Spring

Hello my friends! Welcome to another Stamping Inkspiration Blog Hop. The theme for this month is "Anything Easter and/or Spring". There are 33 of us playing this month! I have heard that some people get scared off when they see that there is a large number of people in a blog hop. I hope you don't get scared off and will visit every post. There are some amazing, talented people in this group and you will definitely get some great ideas.

I went with the Easter theme and made Easter cards for my little loves. Making Easter cards for them reminds me of one of my favourite pictures of Paisley. She is admiring her Easter card from Nana and Papa and has such a serious look on her face. We got her new pink rubber boots that she is wearing on the wrong feet. She loved those boots so much that she wouldn't take them off for three days - she even slept in them! I love that little girl!! I will share this picture at the end of my post because it is adorable but it has nothing to do with today's cards or blog post.

I will start with Everett's card first today.

I stamped the Easter basket and the chick from the Springtime Joy stamp set using Black Staz On ink on Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper. I stamped the little chick twice. I used the Layering Circles dies to cut out my image. I then used the new Water Painters to watercolour these images. I love these new water painters because there are three different sized brushes. The tiny one makes colouring small images so much easier! I used Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Pool Party, Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green and Highland Heather inks to colour my images.

I started with a Very Vanilla Thick card base. On top of that I added a layer of Daffodil Delight cardstock and then a layer of Pool Party cardstock. I embossed the Pool Party piece using the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder. I added a strip of DSP from the Snail Mail DSP pack that I cut a banner cut in the bottom edge.

I added my watercoloured piece to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped my sentiment from the Timeless Tulips stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. I then cut this out using a die from the Ornate Frames Die set and added it to my card front using dimensionals.

What I used for Everett's card:

Daffodil Delight Cardstock

Pool Party Cardstock

Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' Pad

Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad

Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin' Pad

Pumpkin Pie Classic Stampin' Pad

Pool Party Classic Stampin' Pad

Flirty Flamingo Classic Stampin' Pad

Granny Apple Green Classic Stampin' Pad

Highland Heather Classic Stampin' Pad

Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder

Snail Mail DSP

 And here is Paisley's card:

I stamped the lamb image from the Springtime Joy stamp set onto Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper using Black Staz On ink. I used the Layered Circles Dies to cut the image out. I used the Water Painters to colour the lamb image. I used Highland Heather, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Petal Pink, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray and Sahara Sand inks to colour my images.

I started with a Very Vanilla Thick card base again. I added a layer of Highland Heather cardstock on top of that and then a layer of Purple Posy cardstock on top of that. I embossed the Purple Posy cardstock using the Swirls N Curls embossing folder. I added a strip of DSP from the Sand & Sea DSP package that I cut a banner cut in the bottom.

I added my watercolour image to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment from Timeless Tulips on to Very Vanilla cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I then cut it out using a die from the Ornate Frames Dies set. I added this to my card front using dimensionals.

What I used for Paisley's card:

Highland Heather Cardstock

Purple Posy Cardstock

Highland Heather Classic Stampin' Pad

Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin' Pad

Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad

Petal Pink Classic Stampin' Pad

Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' Pad

Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad

Sahara Sand Classic Stampin' Pad

Sand & Sea DSP

Items that were used on both cards:

Springtime Joy Stamp Set

Timeless Tulips Stamp Set

Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock

Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper

Jet Black Staz On Ink Pad

Layering Circles Dies

Water Painters

Triple Banner Punch

Ornate Frames Dies

Here is my favourite picture of Paisley enjoying her Easter card at the age of 2.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed these cards. Please keep hopping and checking out some more beautiful cards and projects. You can just click on the "Next Blog" button and it will take you to Deb Macdowell's project.

Paper Pumpkin Alternatives - Part 2

Hello my friends! Here are the rest of my Paper Pumpkin Alternatives for February's Bouquet of Hope kit. As with the other alternatives, all supplies were in the kit unless listed at the end of the post.

Here is my third alternative:

I started with a Basic White Thick card base. I used the striped Just Jade card base from the kit and cut it down to a layer on top of the card base. I added the yellow polka dot strip of DSP from the kit. On top of that I added the flowers from the kit using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment from the Happy Thoughts stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Basic White cardstock. I cut this out using the Ornate Frames dies. I added the sentiment piece to the card front using dimensionals. I then added the black sequins from the kit.

Here is my fourth alternative:

It is very similar to the third alternative as you can see. I used the same Basic White Thick card base and the same striped Just Jade layer. I cut up an envelope to get the yellow polka dot strip of DSP. I made it a little wider than the piece from the kit.

I used the remaining flowers from the kit and added them in a cluster using dimensionals. I used the same sentiment and cut it out using the Ornate Frames dies and added it to the card front using dimensionals.

I used the Mossy Meadow bake's twine from the kit to make my bow which I added using a glue dot. I doubled up the baker's twine so it would appear bigger. I then added the black sequins and that is the fourth alternative.

What I used for alternatives #3 and #4:

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Ornate Frames Dies

Here is my fifth alternative:

I used the Rococo Rose card base and the gold framed vellum from the kit for this card. I stamped the flower bouquet stamp using Versamark ink on the vellum. Before stamping this image, I rubbed my embossing buddy all over the piece of vellum. Stampin' Up! no longer sells the embossing buddy but I felt it was needed for this, especially when heat embossisng on vellum. After stamping the image, I added white embossing powder and heated it to melt it. As I was using vellum, I had to use the low setting on my heat tool so the vellum would not burn.

After the image had cooled, I turned it over and coloured in the flowers, leaves and ribbon using Stampin' Blends. The colours I used were Old Olive, Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, Mango Melody, Rich Razzleberry and Highland Heather. This technique is called the Stained Glass technique. It is one of my favourites. I used a sponge and some Tombo multipurpose adhesive to attach my vellum piece to a piece of Basic White cardstock. By spongeing on the glue in a thin layer, it is not visible through the vellum.

I then attached this to the Rococo Rose card base and that is the card. I did not put a sentiment on this card as I did not want to detract from the beautiful bouquet of flowers.

What I used for alternative #5:

Versamark Pad

White Stampin' Emboss Powder

Heat Tool

Old Olive Stampin' Blends

Melon Mambo Stampin' Blends

Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends

Mango Melody Stampin' Blends

Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blends

Highland Heather Stampin' Blends

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed the rest of my Paper Pumpkin alternatives. Which alternative did you like better today - #3, #4 or #5? Comment on today's post and get your name entered into the draw to possibly win the prize!

Stay well and keep creating!

Paper Pumpkin Alternatives - Part 1

Hello my friends! As you may have read earlier, March is my blog's anniversary month. I am going to have some give aways to celebrate. There will be a give away on my actual anniversary day which is March 20th but I will also be having random give aways during the month. I mentioned in my last post that there will be a prize for the person that comments the most during the month. I will wait until April 2nd to tally up the number of comments during the month so everyone has a chance to get their final comments in. You MUST comment on a March blog post to be entered, an email comment does not count. I hope there will be lots of comments which means lots of entries!

So on to today's card. Actually, there are 2 cards today. A couple of weeks ago, I started working on February's Paper Pumpkin kit. I made three cards (one of each design) as the instructions were written. I knew right away that I was going to make the rest of the cards into some alternatives. All supplies were from the February Paper Pumpkin kit, Bouquet of Hope. I will list any extra supplies that I used at the end of the post.

Here are the original cards made as per the instructions in the kit:

Here is my first alternative:

I started by cutting up the Merry Merlot card base that was in the kit. I cut the front (floral) and back (solid) pieces into strips. I also cut the pink envelope into strips. I used the Triple Banner punch to cut a flag edge into the bottom of each of the strips.

I used a piece of Basic White cardstock which I embossed using the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder. I attached the strips of cardstock and envelope to this piece using Tombo Multipurpose glue. I like to use this for my adhesive especially when I am working with something that is embossed. I wrapped a piece of Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon around this piece and tied it into a bow. I attached this to a Basic Black card base using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment from the kit on to a piece of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I cut a flag edge into the right edge so it would match the other strips.

What I used for Alternative #1:

Basic Black Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder

Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Triple Banner Punch

Here is my second alternative:

I started with a Basic White Thick card base. On top of that I added a piece of Basic Black cardstock. On top of the black cardstock, I layered a piece of the Merry Merlot floral cardstock that was supposed to be a card base. I then added the oval shaped doily. In the kit it was intended to be used with the gold foil side facing up. I preferred the white side so that is what I used.

I stamped the sentiment from the kit using Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto a piece of Basic White cardstock. I cut it out using the Layering Ovals die set. I also cut out the next size up oval from the solid Merry Merlot side of the card base. I adhered these two ovals together and attached them to the center of the doily using dimensionals.

I then added a few of the black sequins from the kit and that is my second alternative.

What I used for Alternative #2:

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Welcome Spring

Hello my friends! I created this card to take part in a challenge for our Kaleidoscope Stampers group. We were to create a card that uses something new, or something that inspires Spring. I decided on this card as I wanted to use the Many Medallions die set that I got when the annual catalogue came out last June. I hadn't used this set at all! I cased a picture from the catalogue to make this card. I wasn't sure which stamp sets were used so I used what I had.

I started with a Petal Pink card base. I used the large die from the Many Medallions die set to cut the background piece. I cut it from the Sahara Sand foil from the Love You Always Foil Sheets. I attached a piece of adhesive sheet to the back of the foil before cutting it out. Then when it was cut, it was super easy to stick down to my card base.

I cut stitched circle out of a piece of Basic White cardstock using the Stitched Shapes die set. I attached this to my card front using dimensionals.

I stamped the larger flower from the Pretty Perennials set onto some Basic White cardstock using Petal Pink ink. I stamped the flower center using Poppy Parade ink stamped off once. I then cut out the flowers using the corresponding dies from the bundle.

I stamped the leaves from the Hydrangea Haven stamp set using Just Jade ink. I then cut them out using the corresponding die and cut the leaves off of the stem to use them for this card. I attached the flowers to the stitched circle using dimensionals and then attached the leaves using Tombo multipurpose glue.

I stamped the Celebrate sentiment from the Many Mates stamp set using Just Jade ink on Just Jade cardstock. I cut it out using a die from the Painted Labels die set. I stamped the Welcome Spring sentiment onto a strip of Basic White cardstock using Poppy Parade ink. I cut a banner edge into the strip of cardstock. I attached the Just Jade sentiment to the card front using dimensionals on the right edge and adhesive to attach it to the stitched circle. I attached the second sentiment using adhesive.

I added some Opal Rounds to the card front to add some bling.

What I used for today's card:

Many Mates Bundle

Hydrangea Haven Bundle

Pretty Perennials Bundle

Springtime Joy Stamp

Painted Labels Dies

Stitched Shapes Dies

Petal Pink Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Just Jade Cardstock

Petal Pink Classic Stampin' Pad

Just Jade Classic Stampin' Pad

Poppy Parade Classic Stampin' Pad

Love You Always Foil Sheets

Opal Rounds

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I am glad I finally used this die set. It is a really nice die and there are so many other ways of using it. I will definitely have to use it some more. Do you have a stamp set or dies that has not made it out of the packaging yet? Leave me a comment and let me know. (Hint: whoever leaves the most comments this month is going to win a prize for my anniversary month!)

Kangaroo & Company

Hello my friends! What a spectacular weekend we had here in Kelowna. It was warm and sunny and really made me feel like Spring is on the way. Today I went for a nice long walk with a friend along the boardwalk. It was great to get out and get some fresh air and sunshine.

Today's card was made specially for my grandson. Last week I made a card for my granddaughter during our challenge. Since I can't send a card to her and not send one to him I thought I better make one for him.

If you are a regular follower, you will know that Everett's favourite colour is orange. I decided that is where I would start since I didn't make him an orange Valentine's card. I used Terracotta Tile cardstock for my card base. I also wanted to play with the Kangaroo & Company bundle some more.

I stamped the three kangaroos on to some Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I coloured them in using my Stampin' Blends. I used Crumb Cake, Petal Pink and Smoky Slate. After I had coloured the kangaroos, I cut them out using their corresponding dies from the bundle. The die that cuts out the Mama Kangaroo cuts a slit on her pouch. That way, the little joey can slide in and out of her pouch. It is so cute!

I used two different pieces of DSP from the Ice Cream Corner DSP package. I layered this on to a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock. I wrapped a piece of Braided Linen Trim around the card front right at the line where the two pieces of DSP meet. I also intended it to be a line where the two larger kangaroos could sit so it didn't look like they were floating in mid air. I attached this to my Terracotta Tile card base using dimensionals.

I then added the kangaroos to my card front using dimensionals. I had to be careful to not add any dimensionals to the area where the joey would slide in to his Mama's pouch. If there would have been any adhesive there, he would not be able to go into the pouch.

I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I punched it out using the smaller oval in the Double Oval Punch. I then punched out the larger, scalloped oval out of a piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock. I layered the two ovals together and then added them to my card front using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:
