Hello my friends! What a spectacular weekend we had here in Kelowna. It was warm and sunny and really made me feel like Spring is on the way. Today I went for a nice long walk with a friend along the boardwalk. It was great to get out and get some fresh air and sunshine.
Today's card was made specially for my grandson. Last week I made a card for my granddaughter during our challenge. Since I can't send a card to her and not send one to him I thought I better make one for him.
If you are a regular follower, you will know that Everett's favourite colour is orange. I decided that is where I would start since I didn't make him an orange Valentine's card. I used Terracotta Tile cardstock for my card base. I also wanted to play with the Kangaroo & Company bundle some more.
I stamped the three kangaroos on to some Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I coloured them in using my Stampin' Blends. I used Crumb Cake, Petal Pink and Smoky Slate. After I had coloured the kangaroos, I cut them out using their corresponding dies from the bundle. The die that cuts out the Mama Kangaroo cuts a slit on her pouch. That way, the little joey can slide in and out of her pouch. It is so cute!
I used two different pieces of DSP from the Ice Cream Corner DSP package. I layered this on to a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock. I wrapped a piece of Braided Linen Trim around the card front right at the line where the two pieces of DSP meet. I also intended it to be a line where the two larger kangaroos could sit so it didn't look like they were floating in mid air. I attached this to my Terracotta Tile card base using dimensionals.
I then added the kangaroos to my card front using dimensionals. I had to be careful to not add any dimensionals to the area where the joey would slide in to his Mama's pouch. If there would have been any adhesive there, he would not be able to go into the pouch.
I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I punched it out using the smaller oval in the Double Oval Punch. I then punched out the larger, scalloped oval out of a piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock. I layered the two ovals together and then added them to my card front using dimensionals.
What I used for today's card:
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. These kangaroos are just so adorable! I hope Everett will like his card.
