Quiet Meadow Healing Thoughts

Hello my friends! I hope you are doing well. I had a good day in my craft room. I made today's card as well as another one that will be posted later. Today's card was made for a very good friend who had knee surgery. She had been struggling for a really long time before she was finally scheduled to have surgery. This friend is someone who I have known for 30 years and the way we met is a really funny story. If you have been following my blog from the beginning you will be familiar with this but if you are new, you can read about it in my blog post from April 1, 2020. As you can imagine we have been through a lot in the past 30 years!

I decided to use the Quiet Meadow Bundle for this card. I started by stamping the flower image onto a piece of Basic White cardstock using Basic Gray ink. I then cut out the image using the new Scalloped Contours Dies. This die cut out a scalloped rectangle and also cut a stitched rectangle along the scalloped edge. Once my ink was good and dry, I coloured my flower using Stampin' Blends. I used Balmy Blue and Daffodil Delight for the flowers and Old Olive for the leaves and stems. I thought these flowers looked like morning glory but I am not a very good gardener so I really have no idea what they are.

I thought the flower piece looked a little bare with just the flower image in the center and all of the bare white cardstock around it. I stamped the flower image onto a scrap of paper and cut it out using my paper snips. I then layed the paper image over top of the coloured image and added some flecks of ink. I did this by using my Basic Black Stampin' Blend marker and flicked the marker on the edge of the cap. I have seen this done but haven't done it very much. I felt this card needed something and I am pleased with how it turned out.

I used the next size up die in the Scalloped Contours Dies set to cut a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock. I added my stamped piece directly to this scalloped blue piece using Stampin' Seal. I wrapped a piece of Linen Thread around these pieces twice and then tied it into a bow. It is nice to have the scalloped edge for keeping your linen thread straight and in place when you are tying it. I then added this piece to a Basic White Thick card base using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment onto a piece of Basic White cardstock using Basic Gray ink. The sentiment is from the Inspired Thoughts stamp set. This is also a new set and is very versatile with lots of different sentiments. I used the die from the Meadow die set to cut out a layer from Balmy Blue cardstock. I know what you are thinking - there is no die in that set that looks like that! You are right. The die actually has a scalloped edge on the two short sides. I felt it was just too much scalloped edging going on so I used my paper snips to cut off the scalloped edges and that left me with the perfect sized stitched rectangle. I am much happier with this look. Don't get me wrong, I love the die in it's original state but it just didn't work for this card. I added my sentiment piece to the Balmy Blue piece and attached this to my card front using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Quiet Meadow Bundle

Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set

Scalloped Contours Dies

Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad

Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends

Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends

Old Olive Stampin' Blends

Basic Black Stampin' Blends

Linen Thread

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I also hope my friend likes it and feels the love on her healing journey. I look forward to her knee being better so we can get back to walking together again. We love walking in our neighbourhood as we do some of our best chatting then.

Stay well and keep creating!

Simply Elegant Tower Fun Fold

Hello my friends! I hope you are all having a good day!

Today's card was made for a gal on my team. It will be her anniversary on the 27th of this month. I am so glad to have her on my team and look forward to when we will be able to get together in person to have meetings and stamping.

I decided to make a Tower Fun Fold card thinking it was something she would like to try. This card was based on a similar card that my team leader, Amy, shared with us at a Zoom meeting last month. I wanted to use the Simply Elegant stamp and coordinating DSP because I knew that this is her favourite paper in the new catalogue.

This Tower Fun Fold is a different way of folding your card base to get a card that fits into a regular A2 sized envelope. I started with a Basic White Thick card base. On the two sides, I added a strip of Basic White cardstock that I embossed using the  Parisian Fluorish 3D embossing folder.

On the center portion of the card, I added a piece of Basic Black cardstock. On top of the black cardstock, I added a piece of the gorgeous Simply Elegantly DSP.

On another piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped my sentiment using Jet Black Staz On ink. I then cut it out using the Layering Circles Dies. Then I stamped the flower image from the Elegantly Said stamp set using Versamark ink. I added Copper embossing powder (from the Metallics set) and heated it using my Heat Tool.

Behind the circle with the stamped images, I added some silver trim from the Simply Elegantly Trim set. I wrapped the silver trim into three circles and attached it at the back of my sentiment circle using tape. I attached this circle to the center of my card using dimensionals.

To finish the card off, I added a flower image that I cut from Basic Black cardstock using the Poppy Moments Dies. I also added two Opal Rounds that I coloured using my Black Stampin' Blends.

What I used for today's card:

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Elegantly Said Stamp Set

Simply Elegant Specialty DSP

Jet Black Stazon Pad

Versamark Pad

Metallics Embossing Powders

Heat Tool

Layering Circles Dies

Poppy Moments Dies

Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder

Simply Elegant Trim

Opal Rounds

Basic Black Stampin' Blends

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. Have you ever tried a Tower Fun Fold card? It is a lot of fun so I recommend giving it a go.

Stay well and keep creating!

Beauty of Friendship

Hello my friends! I hope you had a great long weekend. Mine was really good. Friday I met my youngest daughter at the park and we went for a nice long walk. The weather was fabulous and we had a really good visit. I haven't seen her for quite a while due to Covid so it was really nice to catch up with her. Saturday I participated in a catalogue launch that a friend and fellow demonstrator put on. I had never participated in something like that so I wanted to learn how she did it. Sunday Doug and I went to a pond here in town and walked around the entire pond. There were LOTS of turtles, geese, ducks, and birds of all kinds. It was beautiful. After the pond, we went down to the boardwalk to check on the ospreys. Mama was still sitting on the nest and Papa was keeping watch so we don't think the babies have hatched yet. I will keep you posted on them. Monday I was finally able to spend some time in my craft room. It was a cloudy, gray day so perfect for spending time inside.

Today's card was made for my friend that was kind enough to include me in her catalogue launch. I really appreciated her sharing her knowledge and expertise with me.

Here are a few pictures from my pond visit:

I used the new Beauty of Friendship Bundle to make this card. I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock. I stamped the tree image three times using Soft Suede ink. I then stamped the leaves images. The leaves part of the stamp is a two step stamp. I stamped the first layer using Granny Apple Green ink. I stamped it off once before stamping on my card. I wanted the leaves to be more subdued. Then I stamped the second leaf image using Polished Pink ink. I was intending it to look like blossoms. Right now the many orchards here in the Okanagan Valley are full of beautiful blossoms. I also stamped the ground image below the trees using Granny Apple Green ink stamped off once. After I stamped all of my images, I used the Blending Brushes to add some sky and ground. I used Balmy Blue for the sky and Granny Apple Green for the ground. These blending brushes are so nice to sponge with. They add the ink so smoothly.

I layered this stamped piece onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock and then added that to my Polished Pink card base. I used Stampin' Seal to attach these layers instead of my usual dimensionals. I'm not sure if I had a reason for not using dimensionals, it just turned out that way.

I stamped my sentiment using Early Espresso ink onto a piece of Basic White cardstock. The sentiment is also in the Beauty of Friendship stamp set. I cut it out using the long rectangle die from the Beautiful Trees Die set which is part of this bundle. I love how it gives an embossed edge around the entire rectangle. I stamped my sentiment towards the right side so there would be room for my bow. I used the Gray Granite twine from the Bakers Twine Essentials Pack. This pack is great as it has 5 different colours of baker's twine - black, white,  very vanilla, crumb cake and gray granite.  I attached my sentiment piece to my card front using dimensionals.

In the die set there is also a die that cuts out two little birds. There is no matching stamp for this die but they are still super cute. The die cuts a little wing into the bird image as well. I cut out three birds and used my Stampin' Blends to add an eye and a red breast. I used Poppy Parade for the red breast and Smoky Slate for the eye. I was intending them to look like robins. I hope I succeeded. I added the birds to my trees using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Beauty of Friendship Bundle

Polished Pink Cardstock

Early Espresso Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Gray Granite Cardstock

Granny Apple Green Classic Stampin' Pad

Balmy Blue Classic Stampin' Pad

Soft Suede Classic Stampin' Pad

Early Espresso Classic Stampin Pad

Polished Pink Classic Stampin' Pad

Blending Brushes

Baker's Twine Essentials Pack

Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends

Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. Can you see the blossoms ad the robins that I was intending? Hopefully the recipient of this card will be able to see my vision as well. I hope you enjoyed my pictures from my pond walk. These are only a few of the many that I took. I'm sure I took a picture of every turtle we saw.

Stay well and keep creating!

Dragonfly Garden

Hello my friends! I hope you are all doing well. A few posts ago, I said that I was feeling a little blue. One friend of mine that is a faithful follower of my blog got in touch with me right away to see how I was doing. She was really concerned that I was feeling sad and wanted to make sure I was going to be okay. To have a friend like that is definitely something to be cherished. Today's card is for that friend.

I wanted to try a new to me technique that another friend had told me about ages ago. The recipient of this card is an adventurous card maker and is not afraid to try anything new so I felt this would be the perfect time to try this technique. Thanks for sharing this technique with me Judy B, I finally gave it a try!

I started with a quarter sheet of vellum cardstock. I used my Stampin' Blends to colour all over the piece of vellum. I used Granny Apple Green and Bermuda Bay for my colours. I coloured splotches of each of the colours until the entire sheet was full. I then used a 0.5 inch flat paint brush to paint on rubbing alcohol. It is very important to use an alcohol that is as close to 100% as you can get. I used 99% and it worked beautifully. Apparently regular rubbing alcohol, which is 70%, does NOT work. I didn't try it though so I can't say for sure. I'm just going by the Youtube presentation that I watched. The alcohol makes the colours blend and run and it looks so awesome. You never know what you are going to get but it always looks great.

Once my vellum piece was dry, I stamped the flower image from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set using Jet Black Staz On ink. I used the Staz On ink because water based inks could possibly smear and would take a long time to dry. I then added my vellum directly to a piece of Basic White cardstock. I used Tombo multipurpose glue and applied it to the back of my vellum using a sponge so I could get a very thin, smooth application of the glue. That way you don't see the adhesive showing through on the vellum. I cut this piece down and matted it on top of a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I then added this to a Basic White Thick card base.

I stamped my sentiment from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set using Jet Black Staz On ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I then used the Banners Pick a Punch to cut a banner into both edges of my sentiment piece. I added adhesive to the back of my sentiment piece and added a piece of  Old Olive/ Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon in a swirl. I then added dimensionals to the back of it and placed it on my card front. Even though there is no Old Olive or Pretty Peacock ink in this card at all, I felt that this ribbon coordinated beautifully with it.

What I used for today's card:

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Vellum Cardstock

Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set

Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends

Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blends

Jet Black Staz On Pad

Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. It was really fun to do this new technique and it is so beautiful. I will definitely be making more cards like this. Have you tried this technique? I challenge you to give it a try. Also, a huge thank you to my friend for checking in on me. You know who you are and I am very grateful for your friendship!

Stay well and keep creating!

Pansy Patch

Hello my friends! I hope you are all doing well. I have made a card for the As You See It Challenge today. The challenge this week is a "fill in the blank" challenge. The statement is My first favourite flower of Spring is.....For me hands down it is a pansy. To see their brightly coloured flowers definitely means Spring to me.

I was thinking about this card for a couple of days before I actually got a chance to give it a try. Of course, as per my usual way, things changed completely and this is not quite like my original thought. I wanted to use the Pansy Patch Bundle and wanted to heat emboss on vellum. That is as close to the original plan as I got.

I decided to use the new 2021-2023 In Colour Shimmer Vellum instead of regular vellum. I love this new vellum! It doesn't show up well in the picture but it is really sparkly. I used Versamark to stamp the smaller pansy image on to the Fresh Freesia vellum. I added white embossing powder (from the Basics embossing powder set) and heated it with my Heat Tool to melt. Once it was cooled, I used the corresponding die from the Pansy Dies to cut out my flowers. I used the smaller, solid leaf die to cut out some leaves from the Evening Evergreen vellum.

I used one of the dies from the Hippo & Friends set to cut out a piece of Basic White cardstock. I used glue dots to add my pansies and then used Tombo multipurpose glue to add my leaves. I added a Pale Papaya coloured rhinestone from the 2021-2023 In Colour Jewels to the center of my pansies.

I added a "swirl" of ribbon to the back of my flower piece using the Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon.

I used a Basic White Thick card base. On top of that I added a layer of Fresh Freesia cardstock that I embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing folder. I added my flower piece to the card front using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment on to a strip of Basic White cardstock using Evening Evergreen ink. I used the Banners Pick a Punch to cut banner edges into both edges of my strip of cardstock. I then added this piece to my card using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Pansy Patch Bundle

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Fresh Freesia Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

2021-2023 In Colour Shimmer Vellum

Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder

Hippo & Friends Dies

Banners Pick a Punch

Evening Evergreen Classic Stampin' Pad

Versamark Pad

Basic Embossing Powders

Heat Tool

2021-2023 In Colour Jewels

Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon

Here is another sign of Spring. A friend and I were walking along the boardwalk on the weekend and we came across this family of geese. The little ones are so cute and fluffy! The parents were keeping a close watch so we kept our distance but I was able to get a picture of the cuteness.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. Do pansies make you think of Spring? If not, which flower makes you think Spring? Make a card and post it on the AYSI Challenge page.

Stay well and keep creating!

Butterfly Brilliance

Hello my friends! I hope you are all doing well. I am feeling quite a bit better. Talking to friends is so helpful. One of my friends gave me the best advice today and it really hit me. I am so very grateful for that. There is nothing like a good chat with a friend and time in the craft room to make a girl feel better!

Today's card was created for a friend's birthday. I wanted to use my new favourite In Colour to brighten up my day. I got the idea from something I saw on Pinterest but I completely changed things up and made it my own.

I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock. I stamped the Butterfly Brilliance stamp onto this piece using Versamark ink. I added white embossing powder (from the Basics Embossing Powders set) and heated it to melt using my Heat Tool. Once it cooled, I used the Blending Brushes to add Pale Papaya ink to the butterflies. I added more ink where the butterflies are and less to the spaces in between.

I matted this piece on to a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then matted it on to a piece of Pale Papaya cardstock. I used the new, beautiful Pale Papaya and White Ribbon to wrap around these pieces and tied it into a knot. I then added this to a Basic White Thick card base using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto a strip of Basic White cardstock. The sentiment is from the Art Gallery stamp set. I used the Banners Pick a Punch punch to cut a banner into both ends of my cardstock. I matted this on to a strip of Basic Black cardstock and cut a banner into both ends of this piece as well. The punch makes it so easy to ensure your banners are perfect and you can cut different sized pieces and have them always line up. I attached my white banner to my black banner and added the sentiment to my card front using dimensionals.

I cut the butterflies out of some designer series paper that was available in March as a pre-order but it sold out immediately. One of the pages of DSP had printed butterflies that could be cut out using the dies from the Brilliant Wings Dies set. I cut out two of the Pale Papaya butterflies and added them to my card front using dimensionals. I used the detailed die of the same size to cut two butterflies out of some vellum. I added these on top of the DSP butterflies using a tiny bit of Tombo multipurpose glue. I only added adhesive to the body of the butterflies so that the wings could curl up.

What I used for today's card:

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Pale Papaya Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Vellum Cardstock

Butterfly Brilliance Bundle

Art Gallery Stamp Set

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Versamark Pad

Basics Embossing Powders

Heat Tool

Banners Pick a Punch

Pale Papaya and White Ribbon

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. It was made for a friend's birthday. I wanted to send it early as she will be going camping for her birthday. I think that sounds like a great way to spend your birthday, unless your birthday is in November! Although one year we went to Hawaii around my birthday and we camped then. That would be acceptable camping but I definitely don't want to camp in the snow.

Stay well and keep creating!

Pansy Patch

Hello my friends! I hope you are all doing well. As I stated in a previous post, I am a little blue. A friend and fellow demonstrator has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and she is not doing well. Her sister has come out to be her caregiver for as long as she is needed. Today's card was made for my friend's sister.

I wanted to use the new Pansy Patch Stamp set because to me pansies are a sign of Spring and Spring is happiness. I wanted to bring some happiness to her day.

I started by stamping the pansies on some Basic White cardstock. The pansies are a multi step stamp. I started with the larger stamp. I made one using Daffodil Delight ink and the other two used Highland Heather ink. The next layers were stamped all the same for all three pansies. I stamped the second layer using Blackberry Bliss ink. The next layer was stamped using Daffodil Delight ink and the final layer, the very center was stamped using Mango Melody ink. I then used the coordinating die to cut out the pansies.

I used the Layering Circle Dies to cut out three circles from Basic White cardstock. I used Old Olive ink to stamp the stem and leaves towards the bottom of my circles. The leaves are a two step stamp. I used Old Olive to stamp both layers. I matted these circles onto an Old Olive scalloped circle cut using the Layering Circles Dies set. I then attached the flower portion of the pansy onto the stem using Tombo multipurpose glue.

Since my circles were so big, I decided to make a slimline card so I could fit all three of them on the card. I started with a Highland Heather card base that measured 9 by 8 inches. I scored it at 4 inches so my card front measured 9 by 4 inches.

On top of my card base, I added a piece of Basic White cardstock. I stamped my sentiment on the bottom right corner of this piece using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The sentiment is from the also brand new stamp set, Beauty of Friendship.

I added a strip of DSP from the Pansy Petals DSP package. I used the yellow piece with tiny yellow pansies on it.

I added my circles with the pansies on them on top of the DSP strip using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Pansy Patch Bundle

Beauty of Friendship Stamp

Layering Circles Dies

Highland Heather Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper

Highland Heather Classic Stampin' Pad

Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad

Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin' Pad

Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin' Pad

Mango Melody Classic Stampin' Pad

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I am so thankful that my friend's sister is here looking after her. I wanted to make her a card to let her know how appreciated she is. Do you know someone that could use a card of appreciation? Pop one in the mail for them. A card will always brighten someone's day.

Stay well and keep creating!

Hydrangea Haven

Hello my friends! I am taking part in another Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop today. The theme for this month is All Things Floral. I hope you will check out all of the blog posts on this hop. There will be some beautiful cards posted by all 33 of us participating.

I wanted to use the Hydrangea Haven stamp set for this card because of the sentiment "to an incredible woman". I wanted to make a Mother's Day card for my older daughter. She has chosen to stay at home with her twins and she is an amazing Mom to them. Her hubby works out of town up to three weeks at a time so she is home alone with the kids a lot. She is doing an incredible job with these two and I am a very proud Mama bear!

Here is a picture of my cuties just because....

And here is a picture of the front of my card:

I have been wanting to try the Baby Wipe technique with this stamp so this was the perfect opportunity to do it. I put my baby wipe on a plate and added drops of Balmy Blue and Highland Heather re-inkers to the baby wipe. I used the baby wipe as my ink pad and inked up the solid hydrangea flower image. I stamped it on to a piece of Basic White cardstock. I then inked up the outlined hydrangea image on the baby wipe and stamped it over top of the solid image. The outline stamp has the flower and stem/leaves all in one stamp so I just inked up the top portion. I used the corresponding die to cut this out. The die cuts out the entire flower with the stem and leaves so I just cut the top portion to get the flower top.

I stamped the outline image of the stem and leaves in Garden Green ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I then stamped the solid image of the stem and leaves over top of that using Granny Apple Green ink. I cut this out using the bottom portion of the die.

I added my hydrangea flower and stem/leaves on to a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock that I used the Stitched with Whimsy dies on. This is a really fun die set that imprints a fun stitched shape into your cardstock without cutting it out completely. I matted this with a piece of Basic White cardstock and added this to a Highland Heather card base.

I stamped my sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto a piece of Basic White cardstock and cut this out using a die from the Hippo & Friends Dies set. I attached this piece to my card front using dimensionals.

I added a ribbon bow to my hydrangea to cover the spot where the flower top and stem meet. Since I made my flower in two parts there is a cut line where I joined them together. I used the Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon that I coloured with my Highland Heather Stampin' Blends. I love this ribbon for this very reason. If you don't have a ribbon in the perfect colour, you can just create it by colouring it using a Stampin' Blend. I tied my ribbon into a bow and added it to my flower using a glue dot.

To finish off my card, I added some Pastel Pearls. I am so glad these carried over into the new catalogue. I think they are absolutely beautiful and have used two packages of them already. Now I will be able to keep using them!

For the inside of my card, I stamped the "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment from the Dressed to Impress stamp set using Highland Heather ink. I also used the long flower die from the Hydrangea Dies set to cut out the border along one side. I really like how this turned out.

Here is a picture of the inside of my card:

What I used for today's card:

Hydrangea Haven Stamp Set

Hydrangea Dies

Dressed to Impress Stamp Set

Stitched with Whimsy Dies

Hippo & Friends Dies

Highland Heather Cardstock

Hand Penned Petals

Hello my friends! Have you had a chance to look at the new catalogue yet? It is incredible! I probably say that every year but it is true. Every year the catalogue is full of new and exciting beautiful things.

Today's card uses one of the new bundles in the catalogue - Hand Penned Petals. I have to admit, I wasn't drawn to this set immediately. However, then I started to see the gorgeous projects that other demonstrators were creating and I had to have it. The coordinating designer series paper is also gorgeous and it was another convincing point to me needing this set.

I started with a Basic White Thick card base. On top of this I added a piece of Basic White cardstock that I embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.

I added a couple of tags that I cut out using the new Taylor Made Tags Dies set. I cut one out of Basic White cardstock and one out of Vellum. I tied these two tags together using some white bakers twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo pack. I added these to my card front using Tombo multipurpose glue.

I stamped the larger floral image from the Hand Penned Petals stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I then used the coordinating stamps to stamp in the flowers and leaves images. I used Fresh Freesia ink for the flowers and Soft Succulent for the leaves. I stamped off the images each time I stamped them so the colour would be more subtle. Once I finished stamping the images, I used the matching die from the Penned Flowers Dies set to cut out the flower image. I attached this to my card front on top of the tags using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment from the new Pansy Patch stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a strip of Basic White cardstock. Before I stamped my sentiment, I used the Banners Pick a Punch to cut the banner cut in the right side of the strip of cardstock. Then, once I stamped my sentiment, I trimmed off the left side to the length I wanted. I added this piece to my card front using dimensionals.

To finish off this card, I added some Opal Rounds to give a little sparkle. I am so excited that these are carrying over to the new catalogue!

What I used for today's card:

Hand Penned Bundle

Pansy Patch Stamp Set

Taylor Made Tags Dies

Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Vellum Cardstock

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Fresh Freesia Classic Stampin' Pad

Soft Succulent Classic Stampin' Pad

Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack

Banners Pick a Punch

Opal Rounds

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I had lots of fun making this one. It is so exciting to use all new stamps, dies and inks. If you have not received a copy of the new catalogue yet and would like one, let me know and I will make sure you get one.

Stay well and keep creating!

Etched in Nature

Hello my friends! I hope you are all doing well. I am feeling a little blue but I will tell you all about that another time. I am very thankful for a beautiful, sunny day on Sunday. I went for a walk with a great friend and we had a really good chat. So grateful for my incredible friends!!

Today's card was created for a virtual swap for Stampin' Up's On Tour that we had in April. Usually we get together in person and it is a huge celebration. Obviously we weren't able to meet in person again this year so they did a virtual celebration. It was really fun and there was a lot to learn. As part of our registration fee we received the Etched in Nature stamp set and we were strongly encouraged to use this set to do our swap card.

I started by making a watercolour background for my stamped image. I used a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolour paper. First, I used my water painter to moisten the entire surface of the watercolour paper. I added a couple of drops of ink refill to a clear acrylic block. I used one block for each colour of ink used. I picked up the ink and spread it across one third of the watercolour paper using my water painter. The colours I used are Soft Sea Foam, Granny Apple Green and Just Jade. I made an ombre like background with the three inks starting with the lightest colour at the top and working my way down to the darkest colour at the bottom. I had to let this dry for quite a while before stamping on it. I think I actually worked on something else and left it overnight to dry. You don't need to wait that long though.

Once my background was dry, I used Jet Black Staz On ink to stamp my image on top of it. I used my Stamparatus and stamped this image a few times. I matted this piece on top of a piece of Basic Black cardstock. The Stamparatus is a fabulous tool if you need to stamp an image repeatedly because your cardstock will be aligned perfectly so your stamp will line up exactly every time. It is also convenient if you are making multiples of the same card (like when my daughter and I were making her wedding invitations!).

I used a Basic Black card base to which I added a layer of Granny Apple Green cardstock. I added my stamped/watercolour piece on top of my card front using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment using Jet Black Staz On ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I punched it out using the Double Oval punch. I cut the larger scallop oval out of a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I layered the ovals together and added them to the front of my card. I used a dimensional on the left half of the oval and some regular adhesive on the right side where it attached to the stamped piece.

I'm not sure if this stamp set is going to be orderable or not once the catalogue goes live on Tuesday. There was a production issue with some of the stamps so they might have pulled it from the availability list. If it is available to order, I would definitely recommend it, it is a beautiful set.

What I used for today's card:

Granny Apple Green Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I had a lot of fun creating it. I am missing doing different stamping techniques with my stamp group. Looking so forward to the time when we can get together in person again! Have you tried any new techniques lately? I would love it if you shared with me.

Stay well and keep creating!
