Hello my friends! I hope you are all doing well. I am feeling quite a bit better. Talking to friends is so helpful. One of my friends gave me the best advice today and it really hit me. I am so very grateful for that. There is nothing like a good chat with a friend and time in the craft room to make a girl feel better!
Today's card was created for a friend's birthday. I wanted to use my new favourite In Colour to brighten up my day. I got the idea from something I saw on Pinterest but I completely changed things up and made it my own.
I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock. I stamped the Butterfly Brilliance stamp onto this piece using Versamark ink. I added white embossing powder (from the Basics Embossing Powders set) and heated it to melt using my Heat Tool. Once it cooled, I used the Blending Brushes to add Pale Papaya ink to the butterflies. I added more ink where the butterflies are and less to the spaces in between.
I matted this piece on to a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then matted it on to a piece of Pale Papaya cardstock. I used the new, beautiful Pale Papaya and White Ribbon to wrap around these pieces and tied it into a knot. I then added this to a Basic White Thick card base using dimensionals.
I stamped my sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto a strip of Basic White cardstock. The sentiment is from the Art Gallery stamp set. I used the Banners Pick a Punch punch to cut a banner into both ends of my cardstock. I matted this on to a strip of Basic Black cardstock and cut a banner into both ends of this piece as well. The punch makes it so easy to ensure your banners are perfect and you can cut different sized pieces and have them always line up. I attached my white banner to my black banner and added the sentiment to my card front using dimensionals.
I cut the butterflies out of some designer series paper that was available in March as a pre-order but it sold out immediately. One of the pages of DSP had printed butterflies that could be cut out using the dies from the Brilliant Wings Dies set. I cut out two of the Pale Papaya butterflies and added them to my card front using dimensionals. I used the detailed die of the same size to cut two butterflies out of some vellum. I added these on top of the DSP butterflies using a tiny bit of Tombo multipurpose glue. I only added adhesive to the body of the butterflies so that the wings could curl up.
What I used for today's card:
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. It was made for a friend's birthday. I wanted to send it early as she will be going camping for her birthday. I think that sounds like a great way to spend your birthday, unless your birthday is in November! Although one year we went to Hawaii around my birthday and we camped then. That would be acceptable camping but I definitely don't want to camp in the snow.
Stay well and keep creating!
Terry
