Hello my friends! I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was very full but enjoyable. I took part in Stampin' Up! Canada's Super Saturday event. It was really informative. After it was over though, I was beat. I worked on my June Paper Pumpkin and that was about it for me for the day. Sunday, I went for a walk down by the boardwalk again. The baby osprey is still in the nest. I'm not sure how long they stay in the nest after hatching. I'm sure there were two of them when they first hatched but there was definitely only one there on Sunday. The baby geese that we saw a few weeks ago are all grown up and don't look at all like babies any more. It was hard to get a picture of them because there was a little boy chasing them.
The first picture is Mom or Dad flying in to check on baby osprey. You can just see the white top of his head in the nest.
This second picture is the baby geese. They look exactly like their parents, just slightly smaller.
So on to cards....
These are the Paper Pumpkin cards made as per the instructions. There were two ink spots included in this month's kit - Evening Evergreen and Bumble Bee. That was a very nice surprise as usually there is only one ink spot.
I also did some alternatives. For the first alternative I cut the original card base down. I used the back of the card which was Fresh Freesia to mat the background piece. I added the flower vellum sheet and wrapped the Evening Evergreen linen thread around this and tied it into a bow. I added this to a Basic White Thick card base using dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment from the Hand Penned Petals stamp set using Evening Evergreen ink. I added this to the card front using dimensionals. I also added some of the adhesive backed sequins from the kit to complete the card.
For the second alternative I cut down the Bumble Bee card base and attached the vellum sheet directly to the Bumble Bee piece. I matted this onto a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock. I added the sprigs that came in the kit on top of the vellum sheet. I then wrapped the Evening Evergreen Linen Thread around this piece and tied it in a bow. I added this to a Basic White Thick card base using dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set using Bumble Bee ink onto the label piece from the kit. I added this to my card front using dimensionals. I also added a few adhesive backed sequins from the kit to complete the card.
For the third alternative I stamped the background piece as per the instructions in the kit. I cut the Evening Evergreen card base down and used it to mat the background piece. I added this to a Basic White Thick card base using dimensionals. I added the vellum "thanks" sentiment from the kit like the instructions stated. I stamped the sentiment from the Plentiful Plants stamp set onto the banner label from the kit using Bumble Bee ink. I added this to the card front using dimensionals. I added some of the adhesive backed sequins from the kit to finish off the card.
What I used for the alternatives:
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed the cards and the pictures of the birds. I have really enjoyed watching the birds growing up this Spring. It will be a sad time when the baby osprey leaves the nest. I know that is what he is supposed to do but he will be missed.
I think this is a record for me for getting my Paper Pumpkin done. It arrived Friday night and it was completely done by Saturday night.
Stay well and keep creating!
Terry
