Hand Penned

Hello my friends! Wow is it smoky here in Kelowna! I hope it is cleaner air where you are. We were at the lake last weekend and it was really bad out there. I was hoping when we got home it would be better here but unfortunately not. We had a great visit with Doug's Uncle at his 80th birthday celebration. On our drive back to the lake from the party, we saw a bear cub crossing the highway just in front of us. He (or she) was so cute! I was a little worried that Mama Bear might come out of the woods but it appears he was at the tail end of the family trek.

Today's cards are from another mystery card event that my friend Susanne did. It was so much fun again! If you are not familiar with a mystery card, you get the instructions of what cardstock to cut a few days before the event. At the event, we cut our DSP and assembled our cards to come up with the finished creations. This time we made 6 cards using the same cardstock and DSP. There are two of each design with two of them being very similar, just different DSP was used.

Card #1:

Card #2:

Card #3 and #4:

Card #5 and #6:

All 6 cards use a card base of Basic White Thick cardstock. On top of that, we added a layer of Basic White cardstock that we embossed using whatever embossing folder we chose. I used the Pretty Flowers embossing folder.

We cut our smaller mat pieces of cardstock ahead of time. I used Pool Party for these mats. We cut the DSP during the event as I said above. I used the Hand Penned DSP. I love every sheet in this package! And it is on sale this month for 15% off! We attached our DSP to the corresponding mat pieces of cardstock and then added them to the embossed card front using both adhesive and dimensionals. I really like how the design was to put these pieces on at angles rather than straight up and down. It adds more character to the cards.

I stamped my sentiments using Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Basic White cardstock and then cut them out using the Tasteful Labels Dies (the two larger labels) and Hippo & Friends Dies (the smaller label). The sentiments I used are from Dragonfly Garden, Beauty of Friendship and Friends are Like Seashells stamp sets. I attached the sentiments using both adhesive and dimensionals.

We were told to have various embellishments to add to our cards so of course I had to use ribbon. I have a very hard time making a card without ribbon on it. I also used some Basic Pearls that I coloured using my Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends. The ribbon I used was the Pool Party Sheer Ribbon. I tied it into a bow and attached it to my cards using a glue dot.

This was a quick way to make 6 beautiful cards. I am in need of many cards as I am part of a Team Canada Stampin' Up! event and over the next couple of months my team and I need to come up with 431 cards. I will be using these cards for this event and will be making more using different cardstock, DSP and embossing folders.

What I used for today's cards:

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Pool Party Cardstock

Hand Penned Designer Series Paper

Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder

Tasteful Labels Dies

Hippo & Friends Dies

Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set

Beauty of Friendship Stamp Set

Friends are Like Seashells Stamp Set

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Pool Party Sheer Ribbon

Pearl Basic Jewels

Mint Macaron Stampin' Blends

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed these cards. I think they are really nice and are simple and quick to make. Is this something that you would try?

Stay well and keep creating!

Chelsey's Birthday Card

Hello my friends! I hope you are doing well. On Saturday our daughter Chelsey turned 33! I don't know how that is even possible. She is such a kind, caring person and she always has been. I love spending time with her. If you didn't hear the big news on Facebook, Chelsey and Russ are expecting their first baby in January. I have known about the new baby since Mother's Day but was sworn to secrecy until she decided it was time to share with the world. I am so happy for them! This is something they have been wanting for a long time.

Today's card is the birthday card I made for Chelsey. I wasn't sure where this card would end up but I wanted to use the Scalloped Contours Dies. After using one of these dies for my last card, I knew I needed to do more with them.

I started by cutting a piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock using the largest scalloped die. On top of this, I layered the next size down scalloped die that I cut from some Basic White cardstock.

I cut two leaf images from some Evening Evergreen Shimmer Vellum using the Meadow Die set. I attached these leaves directly to the Basic White scalloped rectangle. Normally when you attach vellum you need to be very careful about having your adhesive show through. With this Shimmer Vellum, you don't have to worry about that. The adhesive does not show through at all.

I stamped the flower image (from the Color and Contour stamp set) on to a piece of Basic White cardstock using Evening Evergreen ink. This ink is such a dark green that it almost looks black. It is absolutely gorgeous and such a rich colour. I stamped the flower portion of the stamp using Fresh Freesia ink. I used my Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends to colour in the leaves on the flower. I then cut out this flower image using the corresponding die from the Scalloped Contours Dies set. I attached the flower on top of the Shimmer Vellum leaves. Once it was attached to the card front, I realized that it needed a little something so I added Wink of Stella to the entire flower. It is kind of hard to see in the picture but in real life, it adds just the right amount of pop to go with the sparkle on the vellum leaves.

I wrapped a piece of the Fresh Freesia Open Weave ribbon around the scalloped rectangles and tied it into a knot. Having the scallops made it really easy to line up the ribbon straight but since the scallops were open they kept squishing. On a card I made earlier, I wrapped Baker's Twine around the scalloped rectangle and it was great as it fit perfectly between the scallops. Hopefully Chelsey won't notice the slightly squished scallops. I attached my scalloped rectangles directly to a Basic White Thick card base.

I stamped my sentiment from the One Happy Family Stamp set using Evening Evergreen ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I cut this out using a die from the Tasteful Labels Dies set. I added my sentiment to my card front jut below the ribbon using dimensionals.

Here is a picture of  Chelsey's cake and gifts. We got her a gift card for Starbucks. They were out of the envelopes that they put the gift cards in so I decided to make my own. I used the retired envelope maker punch board to make the small envelope out of Shaded Spruce cardstock. Did you know that Shaded Spruce is a perfect match for Starbucks green? Of course I had to decorate it using the Nothing's Better Than stamp set and coordinating dies. I also made a similar envelope for a very good friend of mine whose birthday is the day before Chelsey's. Tucked behind the Starbucks gift card envelope is a little box that I made out of Polished Pink cardstock. Inside that box was another gift card to Chelsey's favourite nail salon so she can go for a pedicure whenever she wants. I might have to go with her! I did not make the cake this year. It has been so hot here that I just couldn't do it.

What I used for today's card:

Color & Contour Stamp Set

Scalloped Contours Dies

Meadow Dies

One Happy Family Stamp Set

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Fresh Freesia Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum

Evening Evergreen Classic Stampin' Pad

Fresh Freesia Classic Stampin' Pad

Wink of Stella

Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon

Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I know that Chelsey liked it as we had the kids over for dinner on the Thursday before her birthday. It was so nice to have them over again. We hadn't been getting together with them as they were both working and had quite a large "bubble". My bubble consisted of just Doug and I. We were being very safe because Doug was also visiting his Mom once a week. Now that we have had both of our vaccines we are feeling a little better about having family over. I'm really excited to have some crafting days with my girl as we prepare for the new addition to the family.

Stay well and keep creating!

Beautiful Trees

Hello my friends! Wow, it has been so smoky here this week. I couldn't even see across the gulley some days. I hope it is better wherever you are!

Today's card is another card I made for Doug's uncle. When Doug was visiting his Mom last week she asked him to pick up a card for her to sign and give to her brother. Well, I will not have that. In this family, we don't buy cards from a store! This is what I came up with.

I started by using a die from the Scalloped Contours Dies set and cut out the center of a piece of cardstock. I laid this piece on top of a piece of Basic White cardstock and used my Blending Brush to add some Evening Evergreen ink. I added it darker at the edges and lighter in the center.

Over top of the scalloped rectangle that I inked, I added the larger tree from the Beautiful Trees Dies set. I cut it out of Basic Black cardstock with some of our adhesive sheets on the back of it. That made it so much easier to attach those tiny little branches! I matted my card front on to a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I wrapped some linen thread around this piece three times and then tied it into a knot.

I stamped my sentiment onto a strip of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The sentiment is from the Art Gallery Stamp set. I used the Banners Pick a Punch to cut a banner into the right edge of the strip. I matted this on to a strip of Evening Evergreen cardstock that I cut a banner into the right edge as well. I love using the punch for this because the banner cuts match up perfectly. If I was to do that myself, I would never get the edges to match up so nicely. I trimmed off the left edge so they lined up as well. I added my sentiment piece to the card over top of the linen thread using dimensionals.

To complete the card, I added the front to a Soft Succulent card base using dimensionals.

Doug took the card in for his Mom to sign and she was very happy with it. She had him write down what she wanted on the inside of the card but was able to sign her name to it. We will deliver the card for her at the big celebration.

What I used for today's card:

Beautiful Trees Dies

Scalloped Contours Dies

Art Gallery Stamp Set

Blending Brushes

Soft Succulent Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Evening Evergreen Cardstock

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Linen Thread

Banners Pick a Punch

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I am glad that Doug's Mom is happy with it and hoping that his uncle will like it. Do you strictly send homemade cards or do you buy cards from the store sometimes? I think you know where I stand on that issue.

Stay well and keep creating!

Sailing Home

Hello my friends! I hope you all had a great weekend. We ended up not going to the lake this weekend. In a way I wish we had as it is not smoky there like it is here. Although that can change very quickly with all of the fires in BC.

Today's card was made for Doug's uncle. He is the baby of the family and will be turning 80 towards the end of this month. I don't know him very well so it was a bit of a struggle to come up with an idea for his card. Although, he did come to the lake last weekend for a visit and we had some great chats. He has done a lot of travelling so this is what I came up with.

I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock that I did a lot of ink blending on using the Blending Brushes. I added Pool Party ink to the bottom half of the cardstock. Over top of that, I added some Balmy Blue ink and then added some splotches of Misty Moonlight ink. I was going for an ocean look and I think I achieved it.

I used the Layering Circle dies to cut a small circle out of a scrap piece of cardstock. I then laid a Post-It note over the bottom portion of the circle. I laid this on my card front where I wanted the sun to go. I used the Blending Brush to apply Bumble Bee ink inside of the circle. When I lifted the circle up, it looked like the sun was setting. I added some more Bumble Bee ink on the ocean to be the reflection of the setting sun.

I added some very light Balmy Blue ink to the sky. I let some of the white show through so it would look more like a sky. I laid a strip of scrap cardstock across the whole card front at the line where the sun met the water. I used my Blending Brush to add a very light layer of Balmy Blue ink so that there was a defined horizon line.

Over top of the horizon line, I stamped the larger sail boat from the Sailing Home stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I coloured the sail boat in using Stampin' Blends. I used Soft Suede to colour the boat and Real Red to colour the sails. I also used the Tuxedo Black Memento ink to stamp the seagulls over top of the sun.

I matted this piece onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I wrapped the black Baker's Twine (from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack) around this three times and tied it into a knot. I stamped my sentiment from the One Happy Family stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I used the Messages Die to cut it out. I added this piece to my card front over top of the knot using dimensionals. The Messages Die is one large die that cuts out 23 different shapes at one time. It coordinates with the Merry Messages stamp and the Many Happenings stamp. These are both large stamps with many different sentiments that stamp at one time.

I used the Playful Alphabet Dies to cut out an 80 from some Basic Black cardstock. I attached this to the upper right corner using black dimensionals. Did you know that Stampin' Up! carries black dimensionals? I often forget to use them but they are perfect for when you want to pop up something that is either black or dark coloured. That way you don't notice the dimensionals as much as you would if you used the white ones.

To complete my card, I attached the card front on to a Balmy Blue card base using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Sailing Home Stamp Set

One Happy Family Stamp Set

Layering Circles Dies

Messages Die

Playful Alphabet Dies

Balmy Blue Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Pool Party Classic Stampin' Pad

Balmy Blue Classic Stampin' Pad

Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin' Pad

Bumblebee Classic Stampin' Pad

Blending Brushes

Soft Suede Stampin' Blends

Real Red Stampin' Blends

Baker's Twine Essentials Pack

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I hope Doug's uncle enjoys it as well and that he has a very Happy Birthday.

Stay well and keep creating!

Forever Fern Sympathy Card

Hello my friends! I hope you are all doing well. I got my second vaccine on Monday. The nurse that gave it to me used so much force to jab it into my arm that I'm sure she must have some hidden anger issues. My arm started to hurt a few hours later. Then I got the chills and all day Tuesday I felt like I had been run over by a truck. So thankful that I got the vaccine because if that is just a small dose of what Covid feels like, I would never want to have it. I felt much better by Wednesday thankfully and am back to my normal self again.

Today's card was made for Doug's aunt. She lives in a small town in the Kootenays where they are kind of isolated from most amenities. They have to drive to larger towns to get groceries, go to the post office and do things that we all take for granted. Needless to say, it is a very tight knit group of people in this town. In the area where Auntie Lin lives they are just like family and have all been a part of their own bubble during the past 18 months. Sadly one of those people passed away last week. It has been very hard on her. I hope we will be able to get out to visit her the end of this month.

I used one of my go to favourite stamps for this card, Forever Fern. I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock that I cut out using the largest die from the Stitched Rectangles Dies set. I stamped my sentiment in the lower right corner using Soft Succulent ink. The sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. I also stamped the dots image from Forever Fern randomly all over this piece using Sahara Sand ink. I like adding these dots to a card because they add interest and texture where it would otherwise be just plain white.

I stamped a few of the different leaf images using Sahara Sand and Soft Succulent inks on Basic White cardstock. I used the corresponding dies from the Forever Flourishing Dies set to cut these leaves out. I attached these leaf images to the upper left corner of my stitched rectangle piece using Tombo multipurpose glue. I layered them in a way that I liked. I then attached this piece to a Sahara Sand card base.

I used the Fine Art Ribbon to tie a bow and attached this to the top left corner where all of the stems of the leaves met. To finish off the card, I added a few Gilded Gems. The gold in the ribbon coordinates with the gold gems.

What I used for today's card:

Forever Fern Stamp

Peaceful Moments Stamp

Forever Flourishing Dies

Stitched Rectangle Dies

Sahara Sand Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Sahara Sand Classic Stampin' Pad

Soft Succulent Classic Stampin' Pad

Fine Art Ribbon

Gilded Gems

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I also hope it brings some comfort to Auntie Lin during this difficult time. It is so hard when someone you love is going through a hard time and you can't be there. After the two weeks have passed since our vaccines I think it will be much safer to go visit her. In the meantime, we will send her this card so she knows we are thinking about her.

Stay well and keep creating!

Tidings and Trimmings

Hello my friends! I hope you all had a great weekend. We went to the lake again and it was fabulous. It was beautiful but still pretty hot. The skies were beautiful and clear unlike in Kelowna where it is smokey and gray. Being out there brings me so much joy. It is very peaceful and quiet. I love to listen to the birds and squirrels right outside of the window. The squirrel loves to tease Bailey. I'm sure he knows that she is an inside cat only and will not be allowed out to chase him.

We went for a short hike again on Sunday morning. This time we went to Rainbow Rock. It gets it's name because where the sun hits the spray from the waterfall there is almost always a rainbow. The size of the rainbow depends on the amount of water coming through the falls. It is a little small right now because the water level is quite low.

This is a picture of the "trail" we took to come down to the falls. Yeah, I don't see it either. This hike was a lot easier than the one we did last weekend, believe it or not. I should have taken a picture of that but I was too scared to let go of the rocks to get my phone out!

Today's card was originally made for another Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop. The hop was this past Saturday. As you have noticed, I didn't take part in the blog hop. We were at the lake and don't have any internet out there. I didn't want to be part of the hop in case there was any issues posting my blog post. I would not be able to correct it until we got back to town on Sunday evening. That is not fair for the others so I had to bow out. However, since I had my card made already, I decided to share it with you here. The theme for this month was "Christmas in July". It's kind of hard to think of Christmas when it is so hot outside but I bot it done.

I used the Tidings and Trimmings Bundle that is in the annual catalogue. It is a really cute set!

I started with a Cherry Cobbler card base. On top of that I added a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock. I think these two colours together are perfect for Christmas. I will definitely be using these again closer to the big day. On top of the Evening Evergreen cardstock I added a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock. I embossed this using the Brick n Mortar 3D embossing folder. I also added some Crumb Cake ink to the embossed piece using a sponge dauber. I sponged the ink on lightly so it would show up mainly on the higher embossed areas.

I used one of the stocking stamps from the bundle to stamp onto some Cherry Cobbler and Evening Evergreen cardstock using Versamark. I added some gold embossing powder from the Metallics pack and then heated it with my heat tool to melt it. I made two Evening Evergreen stockings and one Cherry Cobbler stocking. I cut them out using the corresponding die in the bundle. I also stamped two of the bows from the stamp set using Versamark again. I added gold embossing powder and heated it to melt. I used the corresponding die to cut out the bows.

I used a piece of gold trim from the Simply Elegant Trim set to string across the front of my card from corner to corner. I secured it with a glue dot in each corner and then added my bows on top with another glue dot. I added my stockings to the card front using dimensionals so it looked like they were hanging from the gold trim.

I stamped my sentiment from the same stamp set using Evening Evergreen ink onto a strip of Very Vanilla cardstock. I used the Banners Pick a Punch to cut a banner into both ends of my sentiment piece. I attached it to the card front using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Tidings and Trimmings Bundle

Cherry Cobbler Cardstock

Evening Evergreen Cardstock

Crumb Cake Cardstock

Very Vanilla Cardstock

Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' Pad

Evening Evergreen Classic Stampin' Pad

Versamark Pad

Metallics Embossing Powders

Heat Tool

Simply Elegant Trim

Banners Pick a Punch

Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. It was definitely a little strange to be making a Christmas card at this time of year. I do love making Christmas cards though! Are you the kind of person to have your cards made early or are you a last minute type of person? Surprisingly, I am a last minute person. Even though I make lots of cards for classes and even have extra classes at Christmas time, I am still last minute getting all of my own cards made. Every year I tell myself that I will get them done early but I don't. Maybe this year......

Wild Cats

Hello my friends! This week has been so much cooler than last week. We even had some much needed rain on Wednesday. It was not nearly enough but it did help cool things down a little for the day and it washed the smoke out of the air.

When we got back from the lake I checked the mail and in the box was the Wild Cats Bundle that I won during the Stampin' Business Expo. I wasn't so sure about this set as I could not think of what to make with it. While we were camping my daughter sent me a video of my grandson doing his taekwondo test. He earned his Tiger Stripe! I had the perfect use for this bundle now.

I started with a piece of DSP from the Bloom Where You Are Planted package. I matted this on to a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock. I wrapped some black Baker's twine around these two pieces, tied it into a knot and positioned it towards the bottom. The baker's twine is from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack. I added this all to a Basic White Thick card base using dimensionals.

To stamp the tiger, I used the "kissing technique". I inked up the solid tiger image using Pumpkin Pie ink. I then inked up the stripes stamp using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and stamped the stripes onto the inked up tiger stamp. I repeated this until the entire stamp except for the head, was covered in stripes. It is important to note that you need to clean the stripes stamp every time you stamp it on to the tiger stamp to prevent carryover. I huffed onto the stamp to moisten it with my breath and then stamped it onto some Pumpkin Pie cardstock. Since there is a striped head image with the face on it, I inked that up in the Memento ink and stamped it directly onto the tiger image. I used the corresponding die from the bundle to cut out the tiger and added it to my card front using dimensionals.

I stamped the Congratulations sentiment from the Art Gallery stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a strip of Basic White cardstock. I used the Banners Pick a Punch to cut a banner into both edges. I used the technique that I shared in my post on July 3, 2020. This is a slightly different punch but it is the same technique. I added the sentiment to my card front using dimensionals.

I stamped the second tiger on the inside of my card using the same technique as I did on the first tiger. I also stamped the sentiment from the Wild Cats stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

What I used for today's card:

Wild Cats Bundle

Art Gallery Stamp Set

Bloom Where You Are Planted DSP

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Evening Evergreen Cardstock

Pumpkin Pie Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Pumpkin Pie Classic Stampin' Pad

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Baker's Twine Essentials Pack

Banners Pick a Punch

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. This is more of a simpler card than what I usually make but I think Everett will like it. It has a tiger on it and he just got his tiger stripe. Also it has orange on it which is his favourite colour. It makes my heart happy to see the joy on their faces when I send my grandchildren cards. They receive a lot of cards from me but they are excited for every single one. Do you send a lot of the cards that you make or do you have boxes of them in your craft room? They will give much more joy when you pop them in the mail.

Stay well and keep creating!

Mystery Card

Hello my friends! I hope you are all staying cool in this hot weather. We went to the lake again for the weekend. Doug took the Friday off so we could make it a long weekend. Our youngest daughter and her husband joined us out there for the weekend as well. It was great having them there. We went golfing at the small course on Saturday morning and then on Sunday morning we went for a hike to the waterfalls. We wanted to get out there early before it got too hot. Then we spent the afternoons at the beach. The lake itself is actually pretty warm. I don't usually get in until late July or August but I was in the lake at the end of June this year!

Here is a picture of my daughter and I at the golf course. This was at about 10:00 am and it was already over 30 degrees. I know I am not wearing proper golfing attire but this course doesn't really follow the rules.

So on to today's card. My amazing friend Susanne held a Mystery Card event last week which I took part in. It was so much fun! She sent us the dimensions of cardstock and DSP to cut and we made the card along with her during her live video. We had no idea what the finished card was supposed to look like until we were done. What a great idea! I might have to give that a try too. I used the Pansy Petals DSP for my card. This is one of the packages of DSP that is on sale this month for 15% off. Such a great deal!

Here is a picture of the card opened:

I started with a piece of Basic White Thick cardstock for my card base. On the card front, I trimmed off 2 inches from the right edge to make the flap that folds over 2.25 inches wide. I stamped my sentiment on the larger of the pieces of Basic White cardstock using Evening Evergreen ink. I scored it at a quarter of an inch along the right edge of this piece of cardstock and folded it over and burnished it well with my bone folder. I attached this cardstock to the back of the larger piece of DSP so that the small flap was under the DSP.  I then attached the DSP to the inside of my card.

I stamped the second sentiment to the smaller piece of Basic White cardstock using Evening Evergreen ink. Both sentiments I used were from the Pansy Patch stamp set which is part of the bundle. I attached a small strip of Evening Evergreen cardstock to the bottom of my white cardstock. I then attached this piece to the inside of my card so that it was centered under the top flap. I did this by adding my adhesive to the back of the cardstock and then I laid it down, top side down, on the center of the top flap. Then I folded the card over so the cardstock was stuck down perfectly in the right spot.

I then attached the smaller piece of DSP to the card front. I then decorated the front flap. I added a strip of striped DSP to the left edge of the flap. This is the reverse side of the DSP that I used on the rest of this card. I used two other pieces of DSP from this package and cut out my pansies and leaves using the Pansy Dies which are part of this bundle. I attached the smaller pansy in the top corner using dimensionals. I added the smaller, Soft Succulent leaves using adhesive. I attached the Evening Evergreen leaves to the back of the larger pansy using Tombo Multipurpose glue. I then added Tombo glue to the entire back of the pansy and leaves. I stuck down the pansy and leaves to the lower corner of the flap. The portion of the pansy and leaves that did not stick to the flap still had Tombo glue on it so I was careful to make sure it didn't stick to the card front. I let the glue dry completely and this now becomes a repositionable adhesive. Once the glue is totally clear, it is dry. It only takes about 10 minutes depending on how thick your glue is.

To finish off the card, I added some Evening Evergreen rhinestones from the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels to the front flap. This was such a fun activity! Thank you Susanne, so much fun and a fabulous card!

What I used for today's card:

Pansy Patch Bundle

Pansy Petals DSP

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Evening Evergreen Cardstock

Evening Evergreen Classic Stampin' Pad

2021-2023 In Color Jewels

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed the card. Would you be interested if I held a Mystery Card class? Let me know and we can make it happen. I hope you are all staying cool in this heat.

Stay well and keep creating!

Art in Bloom

Hello my friends! Well this has been quite the week hasn't it? The heat is all everyone can talk about because it is crazy hot here. I love the heat but this is a bit too hot even for me. I have never experienced temperatures like this ever before. I hope everyone is staying safe out there!

Today's card features a bundle that I completely missed in the catalogue. I didn't notice it until Sara Douglass (CEO of Stampin' Up!) did a video on it and I immediately needed it! It is a hybrid set so you can die cut and emboss your image at the same time!! True story. It's called the Art in Bloom Bundle and it is on page 157 of the annual catalogue. The bundle includes the stamp set, dies and the 3D embossing folder.

The stamp is a two step stamp so there is a stamp for the outline of the flower (and leaves) and a second stamp for filling in the image. I started by stamping the outline of the flowers using Highland Heather ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. The outline images are all together on one stamp so it makes it easy to line them up. I then stamped the filling in part of the flowers using Fresh Freesia ink that I stamped off once. These stamps are separate so if you wanted to make your flowers different colours it would be much easier to do.

I then placed the die into the embossing folder. There is only one way for it to fit so you cannot do it wrong. I was concerned that I might put it in backwards but it's not possible. I added my cardstock that I had stamped my flowers on and ran it through the Cut and Emboss machine. The cardstock came out with the 3D embossing and the flowers were cut out. I was also concerned that the die would cut into the other side of the embossing folder but it doesn't at all! This is so magical!

I attached the embossed piece to a piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock using Tombo multipurpose glue. I wrapped the Fresh Freesia Open Weave ribbon around the lower portion of my card and tied it into a knot. I then added my flowers back into the spaces they were cut out from using dimensionals.

I stamped the outlines of the leaves using Just Jade ink on a strip of Basic White cardstock. I then stamped the filling in portions using Soft Succulent ink that I stamped off once. I used the corresponding dies from the set to cut out the leaves. I added them to my card front using Tombo glue. I added my card front to a Basic White Thick card base using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I used my paper snips to trim around the words and added it to my card using dimensionals. The sentiment is in the Art in Bloom stamp set which is part of the bundle. To finish off the card, I added some Fresh Freesia jewels from the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I really encourage you to check out this bundle, it is amazing! I definitely need to use it again. I have so many ideas going around in my head now. I have been spending my spare time down in my craft room since it is too hot to be outside. How do you spend your time when it's this hot out? Leave me a comment and let me know.

Stay well and keep creating!
