August Paper Pumpkin

Hello my friends! I hope you are all doing well. I am going to share our latest Paper Pumpkin with you today. I think it is one of the nicest kits we have ever had. As a note to those of you that have been reading this blog since the beginning, I am completely caught up on my Paper Pumpkin kits. There is no more "Leaning Tower of Paper Pumpkins".  You can visit my post on April 1, 2020 if you want to check this out.

I made these cards exactly as the instructions showed and then did some alternatives that I will share later. This kit made 9 full sized cards with lots of detail and bling. Everything to make these cards was included in the kit. That is one of the things I love about Paper Pumpkin! If we are on our way camping I can just grab my kit and I have everything I need to make the cards.

Here are the cards from this kit:

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed these cards. If you are interested in checking out Paper Pumpkin, just let me know. I believe that Stampin' Up! has really stepped up their game with these kits. The sneak peek for the September kit is really cute as well. It is going to be Halloween/Fall themed treat boxes and they are really cute. You need to sign up by the 10th of September if this is something that you would like to do.

Stay well and keep creating!

Another Wedding Card

Hello my friends! I hope you are all enjoying this slightly cooler weather. I know I keep repeating myself about the fires but it is a huge thing on everyone's minds. We had blue skies with real clouds a few days this week and the air was clean! It was so wonderful! Unfortunately, the smoke has returned but not as bad as it was. I hope you are all safe wherever you are!

Today's card is another wedding card. Our next door neighbour is getting married on Friday. She is a lovely person and we love having her next door. You don't always get to choose your neighbours, especially if they move in after you, so if you end up with good ones, it is a huge bonus.

I went with a slightly monochromatic look again for this card. I started with a card base of Basic White Thick. I added a piece of Basic White cardstock that I embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. I wrapped some White Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon around this piece and tied it into a bow. I then attached this piece of cardstock to my card base.

I used the Floral Heart Dies to cut the flourished heart image out of Silver Foil. I attached this directly to my card front using adhesive. Since this die cuts out the center heart as well, I cut it out again, this time using Basic White cardstock. I didn't use the flourished heart, just the plain, center heart. I stamped my sentiment onto the center of the Basic White heart using Versamark ink. The sentiment is from the Forever Blossoms Stamp set. I added Silver Embossing powder (from the Metallics Embossing Powder set) to my Versamark ink and heated it to melt it. I added this heart to the center of the silver flourished heart using dimensionals.

I then cut some leaf images from the Forever Flourishing Dies set out of Basic White cardstock. I added the larger images to the lower, right portion of the heart and the smaller ones to the upper, left portion. To finish off the card, I added three rhinestones under the sentiment.

What I used for today's card:

Forever Blossoms Stamp

Floral Hearts Dies

Forever Flourishing Dies

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Silver Foil Specialty Pack

Metallics Embossing Powder

Versamark Pad

Heat Tool

Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder

White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon

Rhinestone Basic Jewels

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I hope the wedding goes well on Friday and that the bride and groom have a wonderful, happy life together. Do you have any weddings this summer? This is my second one this month. I have not attended either wedding as they are very small celebrations due to Covid. I was lucky enough to make cards for the brides though!

Stay well and keep creating!

Delicate Dahlias

Hello my friends! This weekend was considerably cooler which was a big welcome to the fire fighters. We even got a bit of rain. As you know, I love the heat but not when our province is burning up.

Today's card was made for my friend Susanne. I have said many times here how she has been such a huge help to me with my lack of computer skills. We are also co hosting the Crafting at the Lake Event in September. There are a couple spots still available if you are thinking about joining us. Anyway, Susanne just recently earned a huge milestone in her Stampin' Up! journey so I wanted to make her a card.

I used the new Delicate Dahlias stamp set which is a free Sale-a-bration item available right now until September 30th. It is a beautiful stamp set! I thought of this technique as soon as I saw this stamp set. I did the Triple Time Stamping technique, although I made my card bigger than a regular A2 size so I added an extra layer.

I cut my Basic White cardstock in reducing increments of half an inch. The largest piece was 6.75 by 5 inches and the smallest was 5.5 by 3.5 inches. I stamped my sentiment on the smallest piece of Basic White cardstock using Black Stazon ink. The sentiment was from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. I like to use the Stazon Ink if my stamp is made of red rubber rather than photopolymer because I find the Stazon Ink gives a darker, crisper image than Memento sometimes. Of course if the stamp is made of photopolymer it is not recommended to use Stazon ink with it.

I  added a very small dot of adhesive on the back of my pieces of Basic White cardstock and layered them on top of each other with the largest piece on the bottom and the smallest piece on the top. I stamped my images randomly over all of the layers. I used Flirty Flamingo full strength for the outline of the flowers and stamped off once for the fill in stamp. I also used Daffodil Delight for a couple of the smaller flowers. I used Granny Apple Green for my leaves and did it the same way as with the flowers. I used it full strength for the outline and stamped off for the fill in stamps.

Once I was happy with the placement of the stamped images, I carefully pulled my layers apart. I attached the largest white piece directly to my Flirty Flamingo card base. I matted the remaining layers on pieces of Flirty Flamingo cardstock. I tied a piece of White Crinkled Seam Binding around the smallest layer and tied it into a bow. I then attached all of the layers together using my regular adhesive. The one thing I needed to be careful of was not to add one of the layers upside down as then the images would not line up properly. I really like how the images look all lined up with their mats in between them.

What I used for today's card:

Delicate Dahlias Stamp

Peaceful Moments Stamp

Flirty Flamingo Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Jet Black Stazon Ink

Flirty Flamingo Classic Stampin' Pad

Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin' Pad

Granny Apple Green Classic Stampin' Pad

White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. Have you tried this technique before? I find it works best with different sizes and colours of stamped images. I hope Susanne likes it and that she knows how much she inspires everyone around her.

Stay well and keep creating!

Dragonfly Garden

Hello my friends! Well things have settled down a little with the big fire on the Westside. It is nowhere near out but some of the evacuated people were allowed back home again so that is a good sign. It has been a little cooler which is a big help to the firefighters. We had a little bit of rain today but I hope we get more. I think there is some in the forecast for this weekend so fingers crossed!

Today's card was another card that I initially made for a blog hop that I was unable to take part in. I figured I might as well share my card anyway. The theme for this month was "Reading is FONTamental". I wasn't sure exactly what that meant so I decided I would use a stamp set that had a Font that I really liked. That stamp set is Garden Wishes.

I started  by stamping the flower image from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set on to a piece of Basic White cardstock using Versamark ink. I added White Embossing powder and heated it to melt. Once it cooled, I used my Blending Brush to add some Just Jade ink. I added more ink to the center of the piece where the flower image is and less ink towards the outer edges. I then used a slightly damp tissue to wipe the ink off of the embossed image. The ink makes the flower pop. This technique is called Emboss Resist and it is another of my favourites.

I layered my stamped piece on a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then matted that on top of a piece of Just Jade cardstock. I wrapped a piece of Basic Black Baker's Twine around this and tied it into a bow. I then added this to a Basic White Thick card base using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment from the Garden Wishes stamp set using Black Staz On ink on a strip of Basic White cardstock. I used the Banners Pick a Punch to cut a banner into both edges of the strip of cardstock. I matted the sentiment onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock that I cut a banner into both ends as I did with the sentiment piece. I added this to the lower part of the card using dimensionals on the right side and adhesive where it sits on top of the flower image piece.

There was still something missing from the card so I added some Matte Black Dots to tie it all together. That completed the card.

What I used for today's card:

Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set

Garden Wishes Stamp Set

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Just Jade Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Jet Black Stazon Pad

Just Jade Classic Stampin' Pad

Versamark Pad

Basics Embossing Powders

Heat Tool

Blending Brushes

Baker's Twine Essentials Pack

Banners Pick a Punch

Black Matte Dots

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. As I said, this is one of my favourite techniques. Have you tried this one yet? Give it a try and send me a picture of what you've made. I really miss seeing the creations that my stamp group gals make every month. I did a couple of draws every month so if you particpated in the challenges you could have a chance to win a prize. Maybe I need to do that somehow on here so I can see what you all are creating. I'm going to figure that out so stay tuned....

Stay well and keep creating!

Forever Blossoms Wedding Card

Hello my friends! Oh my goodness, I hope everyone out there is safe! This year has been one of unprecedented fires. Another huge one flared up Sunday evening in West Kelowna and it is not good. I know of many friends that had to be evacuated on very short notice. My daughter's in laws had to leave so they are staying with the kids. Fortunately they went over to help them get everything out safely. The cat was scared so he was hiding but they finally got him. I cannot imagine having to evacuate and not be able to find Bailey. We are supposed to be receiving rain but that also might include lightning which we definitely don't need! Stay safe out there everybody!! We are thinking about you......

So on to today's card. We were out at the lake last week and of course I took some card making supplies with me. I was asked by my friend's daughter if I had any wedding cards. She is going to a wedding this coming weekend. I didn't have any with me but I did have one in my stash at home. It was one that I wasn't crazy about which is probably why it is still in my box of cards. I decided to make a new one and see if she wanted it. I got the idea from one I saw on Pinterest but as is my style, I totally changed it.

I love a monochromatic card so that is what I went with. I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock that I cut a circle in using the Layering Circles Dies. After I cut out the circle, I embossed it using the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder. You always want to die cut your cardstock before embossing because if you did it the other way around, you might flatten your embossed layers when you do your die cutting. I attached this piece directly to a card base of Basic White Thick cardstock.

I stamped my sentiment from the Forever Blossoms stamp set using Basic Gray ink. I stamped in the upper part of the circle window so that would leave room for the flowers that I added. I always get nervous when I have to stamp on a card that is partially assembled. There is no room for error in this situation so that is usually when I mess it up. Thankfully, I got it the first time.

I then added my flowers and leaves to the lower left "corner" of the circle. I cut the leaves from the Forever Flourishing Die set. I used vellum for the larger leaves and Basic White cardstock for the smaller leaves. I cut out the flowers from Basic White cardstock using the Floral Hearts Die set. I attached all the leaves and flowers except the center flower using adhesive. I used a dimensional to attach the center flower.

I felt there was something missing so of course I had to add some ribbon. I tied a bow using the White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and attached that below the flowers using a glue dot. That completed the card. I sent a picture to my friend's daughter and she was thrilled with it.

What I used for today's card:

Forever Blossoms Stamp Set

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Vellum Cardstock

Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad

Layering Circles Dies

Floral Hearts Dies

Forever Flourishing Dies

Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder

White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I especially hope the bride and groom like it and that they have a fabulous wedding celebration. Fortunately the wedding is over at the lake and there is nothing on fire in the immediate area yet. There is a fire close by but it is not a huge danger right now. It would be amazing if it stayed that way.

Stay well and keep creating!

Counting Sheep and Party Puffins

Hello my friends! I am going to warn you, this is a long post but it is totally worth it!

Today's first card was made for my granddaughter. I can't believe that they will be turning 5 this month! It feels like forever since we have seen them. We haven't been able to see them since last Thanksgiving. I hope we will be able to see them this summer before they start school. They will be in Kindergarden in September and are VERY excited about that.

I wanted to give the Gatefold Floating card a try so here is my version.

I started with a card base of Highland Heather. (Paisley's favourite colours are purple and pink.) I folded this into a gate fold card which means the two panels on the front open like a gate to show the inside of the card. On the front two panels, I added some DSP from the Hand Penned package. This is the reverse side of one of the pieces with multicoloured flowers that I have used on other cards.

I used the Counting Sheep stamp set from the brand new Sale-a-bration catalogue to stamp the three different sheep images. It is such a cute stamp set and has matching dies too! The first sheep I stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto a piece of Basic White cardstock that I cut using the Layering Circles Dies. I stamped the grass using Granny Apple Green ink. I coloured the sheep using my Stampin' Blends. I used Basic Black for the hooves, Petal Pink for her face, Smoky Slate for the lines on her wool and then I outlined the entire sheep using Pool Party. I matted this image on a scalloped Circle that I cut using the same dies and Highland Heather cardstock. I cut the balloon image out of Basic White cardstock using the die from the set and coloured it using my Basic Black and Melon Mambo Stampin' Blends. I attached the scalloped circle to the left panel using adhesive. I added the balloon using a tiny dot of liquid glue on her hoof and a dimensional on the balloon.

I stamped my sentiment from the A Grand Kid stamp set using Gorgeous Grape ink onto a small piece of Basic White cardstock. I matted this with a label that I cut out of Highland Heather cardstock using a die from the Stitched so Sweetly Dies set. I attached this to the left panel below the scalloped circle.

I adhered a small piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock onto a Foam Adhesive Sheet and cut out the number 5 using the Playful Alphabet Dies set. I added this to the top right corner of the right panel.

On the inside of the card I stamped the other two sheep images from the set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on squares of Basic White cardstock. I coloured these sheep as I did the sheep on the front of the card. I matted these sheep using a square of Highland Heather cardstock. I also stamped two party hats using Tuxedo Black ink onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock. I cut these out using a die from the set. I coloured the hats using Pale Papaya, Highland Heather and Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blends. I attached the party hats to the sheep using adhesive.

I created the floating images by attaching strips of cardstock folded up under the squares . They lay flat when opened up all the way or closed all the way but when opened half way, they "float".

On my inside piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped two of the sentiments from the stamp set using Gorgeous Grape ink.

The second card was made for my grandson. I made him a version of the Gatefold Floating card as well.

For Everett's card, I used the Party Puffins stamp set. I made it basically the same as Paisley's card. I used a card base of Misty Moonlight and the DSP was from the Beauty of the Earth package.

I stamped the larger puffin using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock and cut it out using the Layering Circles Dies. I coloured his feet and beak using Pale Papaya and Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends. I coloured his party hat using Daffodil Delight, Shaded Spruce, Pumpkin Pie and Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends. I outlined him using the Pool Party Stampin' Blends. I matted this on a scalloped circle that I cut from Misty Moonlight cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment the same as I did for Paisley's card except that I used Night of Navy ink and Misty Moonlight cardstock for the mat. The number 5 was also cut from Night of Navy cardstock.

I stamped the other two puffins on squares of Basic White cardstock and coloured them as I coloured the first puffin. The smaller puffin needed something so I cut out a balloon from the Sheep Dies for him to hold. I coloured it using a Basic Black and a Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blend.

I stamped the two sentiments on the inside from the Party Puffins stamp set using Night of Navy ink and added the puffins so they would also be floating.

What I used for today's cards:

Counting Sheep Stamp

Sheep Dies

A Grand Kid Stamp

Playful Alphabets Dies

Stitched so Sweetly Dies

Layering Circles Dies

Party Puffins Stamp

Highland Heather Cardstock

Gorgeous Grape Cardstock

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed these two cards. I am pretty sure they will make some little people very happy. Have you tried this Gatefold Floating card? It is a little tricky at first but once you see how it is done, it makes complete sense. I watched a video by Dawn Griffiths to figure out how to do this. Give it a try and share your card with me.....

Stay well and keep creating!

Bloom Hybrid Embossing Folder

Hello my friends! I have to say that I feel kind of bad that I have been complaining about the smoke. It was really bad here again but I am very thankful that we are not in any danger. The rain we had on the weekend has hopefully helped. My heart goes out to those that have been affected by the fires.

Today's card was made for a friend of mine who fell and is in hospital on complete bed rest. I met this friend about 10 years ago at my very first card class session at SLR which is Seniors Learning in Retirement. Another friend convinced me to volunteer to teach a class there and it was a huge success. So this lady who was taking my class ended up coming to pretty much every class I have ever done and became a good friend. She moved away a few years ago but has continued to be both a great friend and a supporter of my classes. I hope she heals quickly and gets back on her feet really soon. She is very creative and loves making cards so this is probably very hard for her.

I embossed a piece of Basic White cardstock using the Bloom Hybrid Embossing Folder. I wanted to do this technique when I got this bundle but I just never got around to it until today. After embossing my cardstock I used sponge daubers to add colour to the raised parts of the embossed images. I used Fresh Freesia and So Saffron to colour the flowers and Granny Apple Green and Pear Pizzazz for the leaves. I love how adding the colour to the embossed images makes them pop! I used sponge daubers to apply my ink rather than the Blending Brushes as I found I had more control on the smaller areas with the sponge dauber.

I layered this embossed/coloured piece onto a mat of Basic Black and then added that to a mat of Fresh Freesia. I wrapped some White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon around these pieces and tied it into a bow. I then adhered all of this to a Basic White Thick card base. I originally planned on using the Fresh Freesia ribbon which is where I got my colour choices from but when I put that ribbon on the card, I didn't like how it looked. I was much happier with the white ribbon.

I stamped my sentiment from the Inspired Thoughts stamp set using Black Staz On ink on Basic White cardstock. I cut this out using the label die from the Meadow Dies set. I attached this to my card front using dimensionals.

There was something missing on the card so I added a butterfly that I cut from some Basic Black cardstock using the Brilliant Wings Dies set.

What I used for today's card:

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Fresh Freesia Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Bloom Hybrid Embossing Folder

Fresh Freesia Classic Stampin' Pad

So Saffron Classic Stampin' Pad

Granny Apple Green Classic Stampin' Pad

Pear Pizzazz Classic Stampin' Pad

Jet Black Stazon Pad

Meadow Dies

Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set

Brilliant Wings Dies

White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. Have you ever tried this technique? It is fairly easy to do but adds a big wow factor to your card. Give it a try and share your outcomes with me. You can email me pictures of what you have made. I would love to see them. I think that is one of the things I miss the most about not getting together in person. Every month I gave a challenge to everyone and I looked forward to seeing what everyone made.

To my friend, if you are up to reading this, I am sending you a big hug and lots of healing thoughts. Get better soon!!

Stay well and keep creating!
