Air Freshener

Hello my friends! I hope you had a great weekend. It was beautiful here. Our big event was on Sunday and it was a big hit. I will share pictures at a later time. I am still recovering from the full day, the prep work and the unpacking. It was all worth it though because everyone loved it!

So today's post is not a card, it is a 3D project. Last Saturday there was another presentation from the SSS Team Group which is Silvers Supporting Silvers. A few times a year, they share projects with us and challenge us to reproduce these projects by making them our own. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to complete all of the projects as I was prepping for the big event. Now that it is finished, I can always go back and watch the replays and complete the projects on my own time.

Today's project is an air freshener. The lady that shared this with us was going to hang hers in her car but I like having mine in my craft room. It makes my room smell so pretty!

I started with a strip of Basic White Thick cardstock. I added a piece of DSP from the In Good Taste DSP pack to the bottom of this cardstock. I then used the Jar punch to punch out the mason jar shape from both pieces.

I filled the Mason Jar Shaker Dome with epsom salts. I added a few drops of Lavender essential oil to the epsom salts. I then removed the adhesive backing from the back of the shaker dome and attached a coffee filter to it. I trimmed the excess coffee filter off. I removed the adhesive backing off of the front of the shaker dome and attached two pieces of baker's twine across the top of the jar. The baker's twine is from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon combo pack. The baker's twine stuck to the adhesive on the shaker jar. I added a couple of glue dots on top of the baker's twine and then added my cardstock piece to the shaker dome so that the shaker dome fit through the punched window in the cardstock.

I used one of the dies from the Meadow Dies set and cut out a few sprigs from some Basic White cardstock. I thought these sprigs looked a little like a lavender plant. I coloured the stem of the sprigs using a combination of Gray Granite and Soft Suede Stampin' Blends. I coloured the buds using Misty Moonlight Stampin' Blends. I attached these to the cardstock so it looks like they are coming out of the mason jar.

I used the Detailed Trio Punch to punch a hole in the top and tied another piece of the baker's twine through it so the air freshener could be hung up.

Instead of the epsom salts, you could use scented laundry beads or any other scented beads. Apparently there is one type of scented bead that is made of a wax like substance. If you use that in your air freshener and hang it in your car it could melt and leak out if it gets really hot in your car. We are getting out of that hot weather now so you may want to give it a try.

What I used for today's project:

Basic White Thick Cardstock

In Good Taste DSP

Basic White

Mason Jar Shaker Domes

Jar Punch

Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack

Detailed Trio Punch

Meadow Dies

Misty Moonlight Stampin' Blends

Gray Granite Stampin' Blends

Soft Suede Stampin' Blends

Epsom Salts

Lavender Essential Oil

Coffee Filter

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this project. I think it is really cute and I will definitely be making some more. I think they would make cute little gifts, possibly for a shower or something like that. Of course, you could use different essential oils to have different scents or the scented beads like I mentioned above.

Stay well and keep creating!

Terry
