Halloween Cards for the Grands

Hello my friends! I can't believe that it is almost Halloween. I was talking to my grandchildren the other day and they still hadn't decided what they want to dress up as. They have lots of great ideas but they keep changing their minds. Hopefully they can settle on something in time for their Mom to find them a costume.

Today I will be sharing the Halloween cards I made for them. The cards are almost the same with just a couple of colours switched out.

Here is Paisley's card:

And here is Everett's card:

For both cards I started with a card base of Basic Black. I then added a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock for Everett's card and a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock for Paisley's card. I embossed both pieces with the Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder. Unfortunately this folder retired last year. I don't like to use retired products because it isn't fair for you if you see it and want it but can't get it. I had to use this folder though for these cards. Once I embossed the cardstock pieces, I used a sponge dauber and Tuxedo Black Memento ink to sponge on some colour on the raised parts of cardstock. The spider webs pop so much more with the ink sponged on them.

I used the Cat Punch to cut out the cat from some Basic Black cardstock. I attached the cat to the card front using Multipurpose adhesive.

To make the ghost, I just drew a ghost shape on a piece of Basic White cardstock and cut it out using my paper snips. I made the eyes by punching out a daisy using the Daisy punch and Basic Black cardstock. I only punched out the edges of the petals and then trimmed them using scissors. I attached the eyes to the ghost and the ghost to the card front using Multipurpose adhesive.

I used the Detailed Pumpkin Dies to cut out the pumpkins. I used Pumpkin Pie cardstock for Paisley's pumpkin and Cajun Craze cardstock for Everett's pumpkin. I used some Basic Black cardstock to cut out the faces that I added to the pumpkins to turn them into jack-o-lanterns. For the eyes, I cut a small rectangle using my paper trimmer. I marked the center at the top of the rectangle and used my paper snips to trim off the edges to create the triangles. I used the Layering Circle Dies to make the smile. I cut out a circle from Basic Black cardstock and then cut it in half. I used my paper snips again to cut out the spaces where the teeth are. I attached the eyes and mouth to the pumpkin using multipurpose adhesive. I attached the jack-o-lantern to the card front using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a strip of Basic White cardstock. The sentiment is from the September 2021 Paper Pumpkin. I used my paper snips to cut a banner into both edges of the sentiment strip. I added it to my card front using dimensionals.

What I used for today's cards:

Basic Black Cardstock

Pumpkin Pie Cardstock

Cajun Craze Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Detailed Pumpkin Dies

Cat Punch

Daisy Punch

Layering Circles Dies

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Sponge Daubers

September 2021 Paper Pumpkin Stamp Set

Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder (retired)

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed these cards. I am pretty sure that Everett and Paisley will love them. Before I had grandchildren, I didn't really make Halloween cards. Now, they are the only ones that I send Halloween cards to. Next year, I will have another one to make and I am very excited about that! Do you send Halloween cards?

Stay well and keep creating!

Eden's Garden

Hello my friends! We got some more good news last weekend. Not only did we have a couple of birthdays to celebrate, our daughter also got some great news. Even though she is going to be leaving her job to go on maternity leave at the end of December, her boss has asked her to be the general manager of their company.. He is so pleased with her job as assistant manager he wants to make sure she comes back after her leave. We are very proud of her!!

I received a new bundle on Friday that is a presale item from the upcoming January to June catalogue. As a demonstrator, I was able to purchase it until November 1st. Customers can also purchase it early, between  November 2nd and January 3rd. It is a gorgeous set!

I started with a card base of Basic White Thick. On top of that, I added a piece of Soft Succulent cardstock. On top of that, I added a strip of the new Ever Eden Specialty DSP that I matted with a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock.

I used the label die from the Eden Dies set to cut out my piece for my sentiment from Basic White cardstock. I stamped my sentiment from the One Happy Family stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I added the sentiment strip to my card front using dimensionals. Before I added the sentiment piece, I added a piece of gold trim from the Simply Elegant Trim pack that I wrapped into a small nest and stuck it on the back of the sentiment piece.

I added some sprigs of leaves that I cut out using the die from the bundle. I cut the sprigs out using Gold Foil, Vellum and the new Ever Eden Cotton Paper. This paper is available in two colours in the same package - Evening Evergreen (which is the one I used) and Soft Succulent. It feels like tissue paper but is thicker and stronger than tissue paper. I tucked the sprigs into the upper left and lower right corners of the sentiment strip.

What I used for today's card:

One Happy Family Stamp Set

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Soft Succulent Cardstock

Evening Evergreen Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Gold Foil Sheets

Vellum Cardstock

Simply Elegant Trim

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I'm pretty sure our daughter will love it. I will be popping it into the mail tomorrow. I could just give it to her in person but I think it is more fun to receive happy mail. So incredibly proud of  that girl!

Check out the Eden's Garden collection. It is beautiful!!

Beautiful Trees

Hello my friends! This is a second part to our birthday celebration from last weekend. I want to share with you the card I made for my hubby. I find male cards the most difficult to make. I want to put ribbon on every card I make but that is not their thing.

So for hubby's card, I used the Beautiful Trees Dies. I just love this silhouette tree.

I started with a card base of Cinnamon Cider. I cut a 1 1/4 inch off of the card front to make a fun fold. On the inside of the card, I added a strip of the new Cork Specialty paper so that it is visible even when the card is closed. This paper is incredible! I know I have said it before but it looks and feels like real cork. My hubby even noticed it and thought it was real cork.

On the card front I added a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock that I matted with a piece of Early Espresso. I added another piece of the Cork Specialty paper along the bottom of the Sahara Sand cardstock. I tore the top edge of the cork paper to make it look like the ground. On top of this I added the tree silhouette from the Beautiful Trees Dies set. I added a piece of adhesive sheet to the Early Espresso cardstock before I cut out the tree. That made it so much easier to attach the tree to my card front. I used the birds die from the same set to cut out the cute little birds from some Cajun Craze cardstock. I don't know if there are birds that colour for real in nature but I know that hubby likes that colour so that's why I used it. I added the birds to the tree with dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment using Early Espresso ink onto a strip of Sahara Sand cardstock. The sentiment is from the One Happy Family stamp set. I also used the Banners Pick a Punch to cut a banner edge into both ends of my sentiment strip. I added this to my card front using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Beautiful Trees Dies

One Happy Family Stamp Set

Cinnamon Cider Cardstock

Early Espresso Cardstock

Sahara Sand Cardstock

Cajun Craze Cardstock

Cork Specialty Paper

Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad

Banners Pick a Punch

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. My hubby was thrilled with it, especially the cork paper! Have you tried this paper yet? I really recommend getting it. It is awesome!

Stay well and keep creating!

Campology

Hello my friends! It was birthday weekend at our house this past weekend. My hubby's birthday is on the 18th and my son-in-law's is on the 19th. We celebrate their birthdays the weekend after Thanksgiving because the kids started a tradition a few years ago where they go camping on Thanksgiving weekend. They get a group of their friends together and everyone pitches in on making the big turkey dinner and they all have a great time.

Today I am sharing the card I made for my son-in-law. I wanted to use the stamp set Campology. It is one of those sets that I bought quite a while ago and have not used at all yet.

I started by stamping the tent using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. I stamped the tent image again on a piece of scrap paper to use as a mask. I cut out the tent from the scrap paper and placed it over top of the tent I stamped on my piece of cardstock. I then stamped the trees image on the left of the tent using Evening Evergreen ink. I created a mask of the trees as well by stamping them on a scrap piece of paper and cutting them out. I placed my trees mask over top of the trees I stamped on the cardstock and stamped some more trees to the left of the trees I had stamped on my card. I then stamped another set of trees to the right of the tent on my card. When I removed the masks, it looked like the tent was right in the middle of the trees.

I used the Layering Circles Dies to cut out the smallest circle from a Post-It note. I then used the same circle to cut part of the circle away to create a crescent shape. I added this crescent shape to my card and used it as another mask. I used my Blending Brushes to add ink to my sky. I added Night of Navy, Blackberry Bliss and then Tuxedo Memento Black ink. I then removed the crescent Post-It note to reveal a nice vanilla crescent shaped moon. I used another Blending Brush and some Daffodil Delight ink to colour the moon yellow.

I used the Blending Brushes again to add some ink to create the ground. I used Evening Evergreen and Early Espresso.

I wanted to add some colour to the the trunks of the trees so I coloured them in using my Soft Suede Stampin' Blends. I also used Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to colour my tent.

I added my stamped piece to a mat of Evening Evergreen cardstock and then added that to a card base of Crumb Cake.

I stamped my sentiment onto a small strip of Very Vanilla cardstock. I used the sentiment from the Senior Years stamp set. The sentiment actually has an exclamation mark on the stamp but I didn't want that on my card. I used my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to ink up my stamp and then stamped on my cardstock. It worked great as I was able to colour only the part of the sentiment I wanted to use and I didn't have to have the exclamation mark there. I cut a banner into the right edge of my sentiment piece. On the left edge, I wrapped a piece of Linen Thread and tied it into a knot. I added this to my card front using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Campology Stamp Set

Senior Years Stamp Set

Crumb Cake Cardstock

Evening Evergreen Cardstock

Very Vanilla Cardstock

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Evening Evergreen Classic Stampin' Pad

Night of Navy Classic Stampin' Pad

Blackberry Bliss Classic Stampin' Pad

Daffodil Delight Classic Stampin' Pad

Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad

Soft Suede Stampin' Blends

Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends

Blending Brushes

Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker

Layering Circles Dies

Linen Thread

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. My son-in-law was thrilled with it. Dinner was absolutely amazing if I do say so myself. I made his favourite meal of chicken lasagna and salad. I haven't made that for him in years. Since the dinner was fairly rich, I didn't want to make a birthday cake so I made apple crisp instead. They were very pleased with it. Am I making you hungry now?

Stay well and keep creating!

Evergreen Elegance

Hello my friends! I have one more card to share with you from our Crafting at the Lake Event. Each attendee received the Evergreen Elegance Bundle in their swag bag so Susanne and I created a card each using this set. They also received the PDF print out in case they didn't get that card finished during the event. Here is the card I created...

I made another Double Z Fold card. I started with card bases of Evening Evergreen for both of my Z pieces. On my larger Z base, I added some Cherry Cobbler cardstock that I embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing folder.

On my smaller Z base, I added some Basic White cardstock. I left the inside piece blank to write on and on the outer one I did my stamping. I first stamped my sentiment using Cherry Cobbler ink. I then stamped the medium sized tree from the bundle using Evening Evergreen ink. I stamped off once and then stamped my first tree. I stamped the tree again before inking up my stamp so that the second tree was actually stamped off twice. I repeated this across the entire piece of white cardstock, altering the heights of the trees as well.

I used the Evergreen Border Punch (which is in the bundle) to punch a line of trees from the 2021-2023 In Colour Shimmer Vellum. I attached the row of trees to the bottom of the white cardstock with my stamped trees using adhesive. The adhesive does not show through on the shimmer vellum. I wrapped some Linen Thread around this piece a couple of times and then tied it into a knot. I attached this piece of cardstock to the front of my smaller Z base. I added my smaller Z base to the larger Z base and my card was complete.

What I used for today's card:

Evergreen Elegance Bundle

Evening Evergreen Cardstock

Cherry Cobbler Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

2021-2023 In Colour Shimmer Vellum

Cherry Cobbler Classic Stampin' Pad

Evening Evergreen Classic Stampin' Pad

Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder

Linen Thread

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I think it will make a lovely Christmas card.

Stay well and keep creating!

September Paper Pumpkin

Hello my friends! I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving. I went for turkey dinner with a friend on Saturday night and it was delicious! The only thing about going for turkey rather than making your own is that there are no leftovers. I might have to make a turkey in a couple of weeks just for that.

As some of you know, Saturday, October 2nd was World Cardmaking Day. I had a great day making a few cards for my Team Canada group. Then I was lucky enough to spend the evening with my daughter and some of her friends. We made the September Paper Pumpkin kit. It is absolutely adorable!!

The kit contains enough supplies to make 12 super cute treat boxes. I didn't complete my kit that night because I forgot to bring candies to place inside of the treat boxes. I have now finished them off completely and have the candies safely stored inside.

I will be sending half of them to my grandkids up in Prince George. The other half will be going to my friend Val's grandkids. I know they will all love them.

Paper Pumpkin kits are amazing! Everything you need to complete the project is in the kit including ink, adhesive, dimensionals, stamps and supplies. The first time you order a kit you also get an acrylic block to use with your stamps.

Here is a picture of the girls working on their kits.

Here is a picture of the finished treat boxes. Aren't they cute?

The Paper Pumpkin box also has the parts printed on the inside that you can cut out and make a wheelbarrow. There are stickers for the spokes on the wheel and stickers for sticking the sides all together. Isn't it adorable?

Thanks for popping by today.

Stay well and keep creating!

Harvest Time

Hello my friends! I am taking part in another Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop today. The theme for this month is Harvest Time. I hope you will visit all of the blog posts and enjoy the inspiring projects being shared. There are 18 of us on this month's hop so enjoy all of the inspiration.

When I think of Harvest Time here in the Okanagan, I think of grapes. When I was in high school, many years ago, I used to pick grapes at this time every year. It was hard, dirty work but it was lots of fun and very rewarding. I chose to use the Forever Grapevine stamp set for my card today.

I started by stamping the large grapevine image from the stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I used my Stampin' Blends to colour in the images. I used Mossy Meadow Light and Gray Granite Dark to colour the vines; I used Mossy Meadow Light and Dark to colour in the leaves and I used Highland Heather Light and Misty Moonlight Light to colour the grapes. I wanted the grapes to look like Concord grapes which is what was used back when I was picking grapes. I honestly don't know if they are still the grape of choice in the area but I do know that there are definitely many more wineries now than there were back then.

After I coloured the grapevine image, I decided that my card front was looking too stark. I cut out some scrap paper and covered up the stamped image and used my Basic Black Dark Stampin' Blend to flick some splatters of ink all over the piece of cardstock.

I stamped my sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White Cardstock and punched it out using the Everyday Label Punch. I also punched a label out of a piece of Gray Granite Cardstock and used it to mat my sentiment piece.

I added my stamped card front on to a mat of Basic Black cardstock and then added it all to a Gray Granite card base. I added my sentiment piece to my card front using dimensionals. To finish off my card, I added a few Matte Black Dots.

What I used for today's card:

Forever Grapevine Stamp

Gray Granite Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends

Gray Granite Stampin' Blends

Highland Heather Stampin' Blends

Misty Moonlight Stampin' Blends

Basic Black Stampin' Blends

Everyday Label Punch

Matte Black Dots

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I am going to be sending this card to my Aunt. She is my Mom's younger sister and the only surviving sibling in her family. She is like a mother to me and my girls. I am very thankful to have her in our lives and wanted to let her know. Please click on the "Next Blog" button to visit Angie's post. I know you will be inspired!

Stay well and keep creating!

Pampered Pets

 Hello my friends!

Today's card was created for a non-profit group that I do knitting for. It is called Knittins for Kittins and you can find them on Facebook if you are interested in doing some knitting for them. They send blankets, toys and nests to different cat shelters across Canada.

I had 6 blankets ready to mail and since Canada Post is offering a free parcel to be mailed on Tuesdays in the month of October, I decided that this is the time to send the blankets. The group is located in Victoria so free postage is wonderful! Here is a picture of the blankets on their way to Victoria and also a picture of them being inspected before being sent.

Of course I could not send a box of blankets for the kitties and not send a card, right? Here is the card I made.

I started with the strip of DSP from the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper package. I decided I wanted to use this particular pattern and that is where I chose my colours from.

I used a Basic White Thick card base. On top of that, I attached a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock that I embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing folder. I added my strip of DSP on top of this cardstock.

On a small piece of Basic White cardstock I stamped the kitty image from the Pampered Pets Stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Technically, I should have used Stazon ink because I was using my watercolour pencils to colour in the kitty. The Memento ink could have smeared because it does not like water based products being used with it. I was very careful though and it worked out. I used the Watercolour Pencils to colour in the kitty and then used my Blender Pen to blend the colours all together. This is my attempt at a tortoiseshell kitty in honour of our little Bailey. I stamped the heart images above her head and then cut out the images using the Layering Circles Dies. I added this to my card front using dimensionals.

On a strip of Basic White cardstock I stamped my sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I cut a banner cut into the right edge of this piece. On the left edge, I wrapped a piece of Poppy Parade Baker's Twine and tied it into a bow. Wait, I can hear you saying that we don't even have Poppy Parade baker's twine. You are correct! I used a piece of white baker's twine from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack and coloured it using my Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends. I have done this before to colour ribbon but had not yet tried to colour baker's twine but it works wonderfully! I added my sentiment to my card front using dimensionals and that completes my card.

What I used for today's card:

Pampered Pets Stamp

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Granny Apple Green Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Pattern Party DSP

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Poppy Parade Classic Stampin' Pad

Layering Circles Dies

Watercolour Pencils

Blender Pens

Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends

Baker's Twine Essentials Pack

Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I really hope the gal at the rescue likes it. Obviously she is a crazy cat lady just like myself. She does so much work for the kittens and cats that need to be in shelters. The least I can do is make a few blankets and toys when I can.

Stay well and keep creating!

Crafting at the Lake

Hello my friends! I hope you all had a great weekend. It was beautiful here. Sunday was especially beautiful so Doug and I went down to Mission Creek park to see the salmon spawning. Unfortunately, we were too late. They have finished their spawn there and there was nothing but dead fish.

Today I am finally able to share some pictures from our Crafting at the Lake Event. In my rush to get everything finished for the big event, I forgot to take pictures of the cards I designed. There was a kit from each card left over at the end of the night so Susanne and I traded bins and she made the cards I designed and I made the cards she designed. It was a great trade off. The only downside to that was that it took all week for us to get together and trade back our bins so I couldn't share the pictures until now.

The event was a huge success. Everyone that attended kept saying how great it was and that they felt completely spoiled. That makes me so very happy because that was our goal. We wanted everyone to feel that the day was all about them. Here are a few pictures from the day. These are some random shots of the gals busily working on their cards:

Of course we had to have a Prize Patrol table full of gifts for everyone!

Here are the cards I designed. Keep in mind that some of the product was from Sale-a-bration so it has now retired and is no longer available. The cards could always be made while substituting other products in place of any items that are retired.

We are giving the attendees of this event first dibs on a spot and I'm sure almost all of them will want to come. Stay tuned for more information after Christmas.
