Campology

Hello my friends! It was birthday weekend at our house this past weekend. My hubby's birthday is on the 18th and my son-in-law's is on the 19th. We celebrate their birthdays the weekend after Thanksgiving because the kids started a tradition a few years ago where they go camping on Thanksgiving weekend. They get a group of their friends together and everyone pitches in on making the big turkey dinner and they all have a great time.

Today I am sharing the card I made for my son-in-law. I wanted to use the stamp set Campology. It is one of those sets that I bought quite a while ago and have not used at all yet.

I started by stamping the tent using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. I stamped the tent image again on a piece of scrap paper to use as a mask. I cut out the tent from the scrap paper and placed it over top of the tent I stamped on my piece of cardstock. I then stamped the trees image on the left of the tent using Evening Evergreen ink. I created a mask of the trees as well by stamping them on a scrap piece of paper and cutting them out. I placed my trees mask over top of the trees I stamped on the cardstock and stamped some more trees to the left of the trees I had stamped on my card. I then stamped another set of trees to the right of the tent on my card. When I removed the masks, it looked like the tent was right in the middle of the trees.

I used the Layering Circles Dies to cut out the smallest circle from a Post-It note. I then used the same circle to cut part of the circle away to create a crescent shape. I added this crescent shape to my card and used it as another mask. I used my Blending Brushes to add ink to my sky. I added Night of Navy, Blackberry Bliss and then Tuxedo Memento Black ink. I then removed the crescent Post-It note to reveal a nice vanilla crescent shaped moon. I used another Blending Brush and some Daffodil Delight ink to colour the moon yellow.

I used the Blending Brushes again to add some ink to create the ground. I used Evening Evergreen and Early Espresso.

I wanted to add some colour to the the trunks of the trees so I coloured them in using my Soft Suede Stampin' Blends. I also used Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends to colour my tent.

I added my stamped piece to a mat of Evening Evergreen cardstock and then added that to a card base of Crumb Cake.

I stamped my sentiment onto a small strip of Very Vanilla cardstock. I used the sentiment from the Senior Years stamp set. The sentiment actually has an exclamation mark on the stamp but I didn't want that on my card. I used my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to ink up my stamp and then stamped on my cardstock. It worked great as I was able to colour only the part of the sentiment I wanted to use and I didn't have to have the exclamation mark there. I cut a banner into the right edge of my sentiment piece. On the left edge, I wrapped a piece of Linen Thread and tied it into a knot. I added this to my card front using dimensionals.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. My son-in-law was thrilled with it. Dinner was absolutely amazing if I do say so myself. I made his favourite meal of chicken lasagna and salad. I haven't made that for him in years. Since the dinner was fairly rich, I didn't want to make a birthday cake so I made apple crisp instead. They were very pleased with it. Am I making you hungry now?

Stay well and keep creating!

Terry
