Thank You Card by Chelsey

Hello friends! So the fog has lifted from Kelowna but unfortunately we got more snow last night. Up here on the mountain we got about 6 inches but it was less in town. I hope that is the end of it but I know it probably isn't.....

Today's card was totally designed by my daughter Chelsey. I am so proud of what she came up with! She is so very creative. This card was made after her surprise baby shower. She wanted to make her own homemade thankyou cards to give to everyone so the weekend after the shower she came over and went through everything in my craft room. She loves sparkle and shine as you can see with this card. Unfortunately, she chose some items that are retired but it's just so cute I had to share it anyway.

She started with a piece of Basic White cardstock. On this she stamped the carriage from the Something for Baby stamp set (which is retired) using Versamark ink. On top of that she added Gold Embossing Powder (from the Metallics Embossing Powder Set) and heated it to melt using the Heat Tool. Once it had cooled, she cut it out using a die from the Hippo & Friends Dies set. On another strip of Basic White cardstock she stamped the sentiment from the Plentiful Plants Stamp set using Versamark. She added Gold Embossing Powder and heated it to melt. She cut the banner cut into both ends of the strip.

She found an embossing folder in my drawer of embossing folders that I have no idea where it came from. It has been in there for a long time. I know it is not a Stampin' Up! product but she wanted to use it anyways because it is so cute. She used this adorable folder on a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock.

She chose some retired gold ribbon to wrap around the Blushing Bride cardstock and tied that into a bow. She then attached the Blushing Bride cardstock to a Basic White Thick card base using Tombo Multipurpose glue. She added the carriage image to the top part of the card front using dimensionals and added the sentiment to the lower part of the card using dimensionals.

To complete the card, she added some Pearl Basic Jewels to the wheels and the part where the cover connects to the carriage.

What was used for today's card:

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Blushing Bride Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Plentiful Plants Stamp

Something for Baby Stamp

Versamark Pad

Metallics Embossing Powders

Heat Tool

Pearl Basic Jewels

Gold Ribbon

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I am really proud of what my daughter created. This was all her creation and I am so proud of her for this.

Stay well and keep creating!

On the Horizon

Hello friends! I have had a lot going on this week. I have my regular monthly stamp group as well as getting ready for our big event at the Lakehouse this Sunday. I'm so excited about this event again and so thankful we are able to have it. It is going to be so much fun!

Today's card was based on one that I made last year using some Christmas paper. It is sort of like a panorama type card so this DSP is perfect for it.

I used the New Horizons DSP for today's card. It is 6 X 6 inches so I cut it down to 5 1/4 X 6 inches. I stamped the trees image from the On the Horizon stamp twice using Evening Evergreen ink. I then stamped the birds image twice using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Then I cut the DSP into three strips. The trick is keeping them in the correct order when you assemble the card!

I matted the strips of DSP onto Evening Evergreen cardstock. I then attached these pieces to a Basic White Thick card base that was folded into a Z fold.

I stamped my sentiment from the same set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a strip of Basic White cardstock. I used the Banners Pick a Punch to trim the two ends of the strip. I matted this piece on a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock that I cut using the punch as well. I attached my sentiment piece onto the front panel of the card.

The card looks good when it is closed but when you open it up completely, you see the entire panorama picture of the scene.

This entire pack of DSP has beautiful scenes similar to this one. They are so beautiful and make such gorgeous cards with very little stamping. I didn't even use dimensionals or ribbon which is very rare for me!

What I used for today's card:

On the Horizon Stamp

New Horizons DSP

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Evening Evergreen Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Evening Evergreen Classic Stampin' Pad

Banners Pick a Punch

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I don't have anyone in particular in mind to send this card to but I will definitely send it to someone. I hope whoever receives it will enjoy it.

Stay well and keep creating!

One Happy Family

Hello friends! Hope it is sunny in your world. It has been really foggy here in Kelowna. We've had three days of fog. Not that unusual for us in January but it gets depressing after too many days of it. The sun is supposed to show tomorrow so fingers crossed.....

Today's card was made for my daughter and son-in-law. As you may have seen a few posts back they had their baby girl on the 14th. I made cards for the announcement of pregnancy, the shower, and for the baby but I realized that I hadn't made a card for the parents to congratulate them. I figured they deserved a card for creating this beautiful baby girl.

I decided to use the Amazing Silhouettes stamp again for my image and the One Happy Family stamp for the sentiments. I stamped the butterfly image from Amazing Silhouettes along the left side of a piece of Basic White cardstock using Blushing Bride ink. I stamped the image three times all in a row. I then stamped the sentiments from One Happy Family along the right side using Basic Gray ink. I love the sentiments in this stamp set and they were absolutely perfect for this card.

I matted my stamped piece on a piece of Basic Gray cardstock and then added that to a Basic White Thick card base. To complete my card, I added some Opal Rounds along the right side.

This card is a much simpler card than what I normally do but I felt the sentiments were the most integral part of this card. I chose the butterfly image because I wanted a smaller image that I could repeat. The colours were influenced by the colours in Peyton's nursery. Everything is in a pink, white and gray theme.

What I used for today's card:

One Happy Family Stamp

Amazing Silhouettes Stamp

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Basic Gray Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Blushing Bride Classic Stampin' Pad

Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad

Opal Rounds

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I also hope my kids enjoy it. I think they will be happy with it. This little angel was a long time coming and has been loved so much since the moment we found out about her.

Stay well and keep creating!

In the Moment

Hello friends! I hope you are all doing well.

Today's card was made for another friend who just retired. I met this friend when I joined the Kelowna Calligraphy Guild. Another friend encouraged me to come check them out one night and I had such a great time, I joined. My plan was to learn calligraphy so I could add it to my cards. That was until I actually learned calligraphy. It is something that you need to practice regularly and unfortunately I do not make the time to do that.

So for today's card, I wanted to do something I haven't done for a while and that is watercolouring. I stamped the image from the In the Moment stamp set using Jet Black Staz On ink on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock. I chose this image because this friend recently got a new puppy. I like to imagine that she is snuggled up with her new puppy reading a book and drinking a mug of tea in her retirement. Knowing her though, it's not likely. She is one of those people who is always busy doing something amazing. I don't think she ever just sits and reads a book for no reason. I also chose Shimmery White cardstock rather than Basic White cardstock because it takes the watercolouring better than Basic White and does not pill and tear when you add the water and ink. I used my Water Painters to pick up the ink from the lid of my ink pads and coloured the images with that. The colours I used are: Poppy Parade, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, Misty Moonlight, Pool Party, Balmy Blue, Smoky Slate, Petal Pink and Soft Succulent. After my image was dry, I matted it onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

I used a Soft Succulent card base for this card. I added a piece of DSP from the Harvest Meadow DSP pack. I chose this piece of DSP because it has tiny writing on it and this friend is all about beautiful letters and script. I matted the DSP on a piece of Basic Black cardstock and attached it directly to my card base. I added my watercoloured piece to the card front using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment from Peaceful Moments using Jet Black Staz On ink on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock. I matted this on a piece of Basic Black cardstock and added it to my card front using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

In the Moment Stamp

Peaceful Moments Stamp

Soft Succulent Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Shimmery White Cardstock

Water Painters

Jet Black Staz On Ink Pad

Poppy Parade Classic Stampin' Pad

Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' Pad

Soft Suede Classic Stampin' Pad

Sahara Sand Classic Stampin' Pad

Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin' Pad

Pool Party Classic Stampin' Pad

Balmy Blue Classic Stampin' Pad

Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' Pad

So Saffron Classic Stampin' Pad

Petal Pink Classic Stampin' Pad

Soft Succulent Classic Stampin' Pad

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I also hope my friend enjoys it. Maybe it will encourage her to slow down for some snuggle time with her new puppy. I'm pretty sure the puppy would be up for that. I have to add that when I created this card I didn't know what the new puppy looked like. I have since seen her on a Zoom call and she is not brown like the puppy in my card. Apologies to both my friend and her puppy.

Stay well and keep creating!

Amazing Silhouettes

Hello friends! I hope you are all doing well. We had the most amazing weekend! Our daughter gave birth on Friday morning to the most precious little angel. I am so in love with her! Peyton Presley arrived on January 14 to a family that has been waiting for this moment for years. Here is a picture of her and me as soon as she got home from the hospital.

Today's card was created for our Canadian head of Stampin' Up!, Dale.  I may have mentioned that I was part of a group helping Canadian demonstrators called Team Canada. One of the other Team Canada groups created an online recognition program called Stampin' Stones. You can earn a badge by doing different things. One of them is the Creator Badge. I earned that by sharing some cards I created along with the PDF instructions for those cards. Each week, anyone who earns a Stampin' Stones badge gets their name put in a draw to win a free stamp set from Dale. My name was chosen this particular week so of course, I need to send a thank you card!

I wanted to try the Amazing Silhouettes stamp set as I thought it would work for a masculine card. I have to be honest, I wasn't crazy about this stamp when I first got it. I received it as part of my On Stage at Home registration and I don't think it is one that I would have chosen myself. However, I have seen different ideas on the internet and I am completely re-thinking this one. I am really liking it now!

I went with a simpler design and a monochromatic theme for today's card. I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock. I stamped the larger tree image from the stamp set using Evening Evergreen ink. I also stamped my sentiment on the same piece of cardstock using the same ink. My sentiment is from the Shaded Summer stamp set. After stamping, I matted my piece on a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock. I wrapped a piece of Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon around this piece and tied it into a knot. I added this piece to a Basic White Thick card base using dimensionals. To finish off my card, I added a few 2021-2023 In Colour Jewels in Evening Evergreen colour.

What I used for today's card:

Amazing Silhouettes Stamp

Shaded Summer Stamp

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Evening Evergreen Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Evening Evergreen Classic Stampin' Pad

Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon

2021-2023 In Colour Jewels

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I also hope Dale enjoys it. Have you ever had a stamp like this where you don't like it at first but then you did? I have had this another time and the stamp turned out to be one of my favourites. This stamp set could be just like that. And how adorable is my new granddaughter? Thanks for indulging me.

Stay well and keep creating!

On the Horizon

Hello friends! How are you all doing? It has been a couple of days since we have had any snow so the city is getting caught up on clearing the roads. It is much nicer to be able to drive on a clear road with no ice. Being stuck at home has given me time to catch up on designing cards for my stamp group and for the Crafting at the Lake Event. I'm so excited that we are able to go ahead with this event! We have to have fewer people than we had last time but at least we are able to do it. If you would like to come, let me know.

Today's card was made for my chiropractor. He is an amazing chiropractor but he is not a fan of cards. Well to be clear, he doesn't like store bought cards. When he found out what I do he had to clarify that. I made a Christmas card for him and he was thrilled. I was supposed to have an appointment last week but the office called to cancel because he was sick. He is still home sick so I thought I would make him a card to cheer him up.

I started with a small piece of Basic White cardstock. I used my Blending Brushes to add colour. I added Balmy Blue ink to the top two thirds of the cardstock. Below that, I added a blend of Garden Green and Crumb Cake. After that, I stamped the grasses image from the On the Horizon set using Crumb Cake ink. I also stamped the seagulls image from the same set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I matted this piece on a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

On another, larger piece of Basic White cardstock I stamped my sentiment (from the Timeless Tulips stamp set) using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I then embossed this piece using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. I matted this onto another piece of Basic Black cardstock. I wrapped a piece of Linen Thread around this piece a few times and then tied it into a knot.

I added my embossed piece to a Balmy Blue card base using dimensionals. I then added my stamped piece on top of the embossed piece using dimensionals and that completed my card.

What I used for today's card:

On the Horizon Stamp

Timeless Tulips Stamp

Balmy Blue Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Balmy Blue Classic Stampin' Pad

Garden Green Classic Stampin' Pad

Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' Pad

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Blending Brushes

Linen Thread

Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card and I hope my chiropractor enjoys it. Hopefully he will be feeling better soon. Do you make cards for your chiropractor or vet or someone else like that? I think it is nice to share our creations.

Stay well and keep creating!

Blessings of Home Birthday

Hello friends! Apparently I had to create another card using this stamp set. I really like this new stamp set from the January to June catalogue. I had a birthday card to make so this set was calling to me to be used.

I started by stamping the larger flower image onto a piece of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I used the corresponding die from the Flowers of Home Dies set to cut it out. Then I used my Stampin' Blends to colour in the stamped image. I used Petal Pink and So Saffron to colour the flowers and Granny Apple Green to colour the leaves and stems.

I used a card base of Basic White Thick cardstock. On top of this I added a piece of woodgrain DSP from the Heart & Home DSP pack. I matted this on a piece of Basic Gray cardstock. I wrapped a piece of Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon around the right side of this and tied it into a bow. I added this piece to my card base using dimensionals. I then added the flower image to the DSP piece using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment from the Blessings of Home stamp using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I used the Messages Dies to cut it out. I used dimensionals to add this to my card and that completed it.

What I used for today's card:

Blessings of Home Stamp

Flowers of Home Dies

Messages Dies

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Basic Gray Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Heart & Home DSP

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends

Petal Pink Stampin' Blends

So Saffron Stampin' Blends

Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I also hope the birthday girl will enjoy it and that it arrives on time. Our mail has been so backed up the past couple of months. I mailed all of my Christmas cards the first week of December and they just arrived on Christmas Eve. Some arrived on New Year's Eve. That is a ridiculously long time.

Stay well and keep creating!

Sketch Challenge

Hello friends! I am taking part in another Stamping Inkspirations Blog Hop today. This is the first one for 2022 and I am excited to do all of them this year (fingers crossed!).

This month's inspiration is a sketch challenge. There are 28 of us taking part this month so it will be fun to see how everyone interprets the challenge. Here is the sketch of what we were to use to create our cards.

Here a picture of the card I created.

I wanted to use the Heart & Home DSP so that is how I came up with the colours I used. I started with the piece of DSP and matted it with a piece of Garden Green cardstock.

Next I embossed a piece of Basic White cardstock  using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. I wrapped a piece of Pale Papaya and White Woven Ribbon around the embossed cardstock along the left edge and secured it at the back using scotch tape. For my scalloped piece, I used the scalloped die from the Penned Flowers Dies set and cut it from some Garden Green cardstock. I attached this at the bottom edge of the embossed cardstock using Tombo multipurpose adhesive. I then attached this embossed piece to a Pale Papaya card base. I attached the DSP piece to the card front using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment from the Blessings of Home stamp using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. The whole stamp actually says "Thank You for inspiring me" but I only wanted the Thank You portion of the stamp. Rather than cut my stamp up, I used a masking technique. I placed a piece of tape across the lower part of the stamp that I didn't want and inked up the stamp. I removed the tape and stamped the image onto my cardstock. It is very important to remember to remove the tape before stamping or you will end up with your image and a big blob where the tape picked up the ink. I have done this and it is not fun! I used a die from the Ornate Frames Dies set to cut out my sentiment. I added this to the DSP piece using dimensionals.

What I used for today's card:

Pale Papaya Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Garden Green Cardstock

Heart & Home DSP

Blessings of Home Stamp

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad

Ornate Frames Dies

Penned Flowers Dies

Pale Papaya & White Woven Ribbon

Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I think I followed the sketch fairly well. I find that if I am struggling to come up with an idea, a sketch challenge is really helpful to get my mojo back.

Blessings of Home

Hello friends! How is your 2022 going so far? At least it has warmed up. I did not enjoy the minus 20 degrees we were having.

Today's card was created with a new set from the new January to June 2022 catalogue. It is called Blessings of Home. I wanted to make this card for the gal that organized the business expo's that I have participated in. There is going to be another one in January but I am not able to take part in this one unfortunately. My daughter is due to have her baby and I have too much other stuff going on.

I started by stamping the flower image on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Black Staz On ink. I coloured in the flower using Watercolour Pencils. The colours I used are Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight for the flowers and Garden Green for the leaves and stems. I then used a Blender Pen to blend the colours in. It is not recommended to use regular cardstock for water colouring but since I was not applying a lot of pressure and only using my Blender Pen it worked out well. I also added some Wink of Stella to the flowers to give it a little more pizzazz. It's hard to see in the picture but it is there. I matted my stamped image on a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I added this to a piece of So Saffron  cardstock that I cut out using the Stitched so Sweetly Dies.

I coloured a piece of White Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon using my So Saffron Stampin' Blend. I wrapped it around the stamped piece and tied it into a knot.

I used a So Saffron card base. On top of that I added a piece of Basic White cardstock that  I embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing folder. I matted this on a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I added my stamped piece to the card front using dimensionals.

I stamped my sentiment from the Pansy Patch stamp set using Black Staz On  ink on a strip of Basic White cardstock. I cut a banner cut into both edges of my strip of cardstock and added this to my card using adhesive along the top edge of the strip of cardstock and half dimensionals on the bottom edge.

What I used for today's card:

Blessings of Home Stamp

Pansy Patch Stamp

So Saffron Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Jet Black Staz On Ink Pad

Watercolour Pencils

Wink of Stella

Stitched So Sweetly Dies

White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon

So Saffron Stampin' Blends

Blender Pen

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I think I needed some bright, Spring colours after doing so many Christmas cards. I hope Allison enjoys it.

Stay well and keep creating!

Tailored Tag

Hello friends! I hope you all had a Happy New Year! I hope 2022 is going to be better than 2021 was. For me, it will definitely start off great as my new granddaughter is going to make her appearance very soon. I can't wait to meet her!

So for today's card, I felt compelled to make a card for a friend's husband. I know she follows my blog faithfully so hopefully this will bring a smile to her face. I hope she doesn't tell her hubby that he should be expecting some mail as who knows when it will arrive...

I had to go to Fabricland to pick up some more fabric to make some change pads for my new grandbaby's change table. Our Fabricland is in the next town to us. It's not really that far but I don't often go over there unless I have to. I told another friend that I was planning on going and asked if she would like to join me. When I was on my way to pick her up, I had a brilliant idea. We have a mutual friend that lives over on that side of the bridge so I thought that if everyone was available, maybe we could meet up with our mutual friend after our Fabricland adventure. Everything was working out perfectly and we got to our friend's condo building. Our initial plan was to grab a coffee in the restaurant there but sadly it was closed. We decided to have a visit in their owner's lounge and skip the coffee because we just wanted to catch up. I don't think I have seen this friend in well over a year (maybe longer). She is a caregiver for her husband so she needs to be close to him. We had a lovely visit and there was lots of chatting. After a while her phone rings and it is her husband. He was fine but just wanted to know if she was coming home. It had been 4 hours!! None of us knew how much time had passed but I felt terrible for keeping her away for so long.

Today's card is an apology card to my friend's husband for keeping her too long.

I started by punching many pieces of DSP using the Tailored Tag punch. I used the Simply Elegant Specialty DSP. I love this paper! I adhered the punched out pieces onto a piece of Basic White cardstock leaving about 1/8 inch between each piece. Once I had all of the pieces glued down, I trimmed my cardstock down to the right size and matted it on a  piece of Basic Black cardstock. I then added this to a Basic White Thick card base.

On a small strip of Basic White cardstock I stamped my sentiment from the Art Gallery stamp set using Jet Black Staz On ink. I used the Banners Pick a Punch to create the pointed edges on both ends of my sentiment piece. I also did the same using a strip of Basic Black cardstock. I matted my stamped piece on the black piece and added this to my card front using dimensionals.

I have seen cards using this punch all over Pinterest but until now I had not made one. This seemed like the perfect opportunity.

What I used for today's card:

Art Gallery Stamp

Basic White Thick Cardstock

Basic Black Cardstock

Basic White Cardstock

Simply Elegant Specialty DSP

Tailored Tag Punch

Banners Pick a Punch

Jet Black Staz On Ink Pad

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. Mostly I hope my friend's husband likes it. This card can be recreated by simply changing the DSP and sentiment and it could be anything you need.

Stay well and keep creating!
