Hello friends! I hope you are all doing well.
Today's card was made for another friend who just retired. I met this friend when I joined the Kelowna Calligraphy Guild. Another friend encouraged me to come check them out one night and I had such a great time, I joined. My plan was to learn calligraphy so I could add it to my cards. That was until I actually learned calligraphy. It is something that you need to practice regularly and unfortunately I do not make the time to do that.
So for today's card, I wanted to do something I haven't done for a while and that is watercolouring. I stamped the image from the In the Moment stamp set using Jet Black Staz On ink on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock. I chose this image because this friend recently got a new puppy. I like to imagine that she is snuggled up with her new puppy reading a book and drinking a mug of tea in her retirement. Knowing her though, it's not likely. She is one of those people who is always busy doing something amazing. I don't think she ever just sits and reads a book for no reason. I also chose Shimmery White cardstock rather than Basic White cardstock because it takes the watercolouring better than Basic White and does not pill and tear when you add the water and ink. I used my Water Painters to pick up the ink from the lid of my ink pads and coloured the images with that. The colours I used are: Poppy Parade, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Sahara Sand, Misty Moonlight, Pool Party, Balmy Blue, Smoky Slate, Petal Pink and Soft Succulent. After my image was dry, I matted it onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.
I used a Soft Succulent card base for this card. I added a piece of DSP from the Harvest Meadow DSP pack. I chose this piece of DSP because it has tiny writing on it and this friend is all about beautiful letters and script. I matted the DSP on a piece of Basic Black cardstock and attached it directly to my card base. I added my watercoloured piece to the card front using dimensionals.
I stamped my sentiment from Peaceful Moments using Jet Black Staz On ink on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock. I matted this on a piece of Basic Black cardstock and added it to my card front using dimensionals.
What I used for today's card:
Poppy Parade Classic Stampin' Pad
Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' Pad
Soft Suede Classic Stampin' Pad
Sahara Sand Classic Stampin' Pad
Misty Moonlight Classic Stampin' Pad
Pool Party Classic Stampin' Pad
Balmy Blue Classic Stampin' Pad
Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' Pad
So Saffron Classic Stampin' Pad
Petal Pink Classic Stampin' Pad
Soft Succulent Classic Stampin' Pad
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I also hope my friend enjoys it. Maybe it will encourage her to slow down for some snuggle time with her new puppy. I'm pretty sure the puppy would be up for that. I have to add that when I created this card I didn't know what the new puppy looked like. I have since seen her on a Zoom call and she is not brown like the puppy in my card. Apologies to both my friend and her puppy.
Stay well and keep creating!
Terry
