Tulip Fields

Hello friends! Today I will be sharing another card that was created as a make and take at our Crafting at the Lake Event. This card used the Tulip Fields stamp set and it was created by my friend Susanne.

First we stamped the double flower image stamp using the Stamparatus (so it was lined up perfectly) and Fresh Freesia ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock. Then we stamped the single flower image twice using Calypso Coral ink. We placed this close to the previously stamped Fresh Freesia flowers. Next we stamped the same flower image twice using So Saffron ink and finally we stamped the center flower image using Fresh Freesia ink again. After we had the flowers all stamped, we stamped the windmill from the same stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. We used watercolour pencils to colour in parts of the windmill and then used a Blender Pen to blend the colours. Then came the fun part....we had to fussy cut along the top edge of the Fresh Freesia flowers and also cut out the windmill while leaving it attached to the field of flowers.

On a Basic White Thick card base, we attached a piece of DSP from the Flowering Fields DSP pack on the top part of our card front. We attached the stamped flower field to the bottom of the card front. When the card is opened the front folds at the top of the flowers and the windmill stands up.

On a small strip of Basic White cardstock, we stamped the sentiment from the Celebrating You stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. We matted this onto another piece of DSP from the Flowering Fields DSP pack and added this to the inside of our card using dimensionals. This becomes the stopper for the card so the easel will stand up properly when opened up.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. It is a super fun fun-fold that is not super difficult but has a lot of wow!

Stay well and keep creating!

Rainbow of Happiness

Hello friends! Today I am sharing another card I created as a make and take for our Crafting at the Lake Event.

Today's card uses the Rainbow of Happiness Bundle. I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock. On the top half of the cardstock, I stamped my rainbow image. The way the stamp is made, each layer of the rainbow is a separate stamp. I started with the larger layer and stamped it using Bermuda Bay ink. Then I stamped the next layer in Magenta Madness, then Mango Melody and the smaller layer in Granny Apple Green. I added a piece of DSP from the Sunshine & Rainbows DSP pack that is a free Sale-a-bration item that is only available until the end of February. For every $60 you spend, you get to choose a free item from the special Sale-a-bration catalogue. I added the DSP at the very bottom of the piece of cardstock. On the top edge of the DSP I added a strip of Magenta Madness cardstock to create a border between the rainbow and the DSP.

I added the stamped cardstock onto a piece of Magenta Madness cardstock and added that to a Basic White Thick card base.

From a scrap of Basic White cardstock, I cut out a circle using the Layering Circles Dies. I stamped my sentiment from the Rainbow of Happiness stamp set using Bermuda Bay ink. I added the sentiment to my card front using dimensionals.

From another scrap of Basic White cardstock, I cut out the two clouds from the Brilliant Rainbow Dies set which is part of this bundle. I added the clouds to the rainbow using dimensionals.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I feel like it is a bright and happy card and I hope it brightens someone's day when I send it to them.

Stay well and keep creating!

Awesome Otters

Hello friends! Well it appears that winter has returned to Kelowna. It was so lovely last week and yesterday morning I had to shovel the driveway again! There wasn't a lot of snow but it was at just the right temperature that it probably wouldn't have melted completely and with the cold temperatures predicted I didn't want the driveway to turn into a skating rink. It is below zero again so that definitely would have happened. I did get in a lovely walk along the boardwalk on Friday though before winter returned. My friend and I were even lucky enough to come upon a blue heron just 10 feet in front of us. He was just standing there and then slowly moved along and flew away. Such a beautiful sight!!

So on to today's card. I used the Awesome Otters stamp set that is only available as a free Sale-a-bration item until the end of February. For every $60 you spend during Sale-a-bration you get to choose a free item from the special Sale-a-bration catalogue. This is such a cute stamp set! This card is one of the make and takes that I created for our Crafting at the Lake Event that was on January 30th. I will be sharing all of the cards that both Susanne and I designed for the event in the upcoming weeks.

I started with a card base of Basic White Thick cardstock. On top of that I added a layer of Pool Party cardstock. I added a strip of DSP from the Sunshine and Rainbows DSP pack. This DSP is also a free Sale-a-bration item that is only available until the end of February. I matted the strip of DSP with a strip of Basic White cardstock and added this to the Pool Party cardstock.

I used another piece of Basic White cardstock to cut out three circles using the Layering Circles dies. I stamped each of the three otters onto the circles using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I used Stampin' Blends to colour in the otters. The colours I used are Soft Suede, Smoky Slate, Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Daffodil Delight. I added the otters to my card front using dimensionals. On a scrap of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the party hat using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloured it in using my Stampin' Blends. I fussy cut out the hat and attached it to the otter in the center circle.

I used the same ink to stamp my sentiment from the stamp set on a strip of Basic White cardstock. I cut a banner cut into the right edge of my sentiment piece. I then added the sentiment to the far right side of my card using dimensionals.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I think these little otters are really cute.

Stay well and keep creating!

On the Horizon

Hello friends! Today I am sharing a card that I made because I was asked by Stampin' Up! to create a card and video to share with my fellow demonstrators. I felt very honoured to have been asked to do this so I immediately said I would do it. Videos are not my strong point but I was up to the challenge.

I knew I wanted to use the On the Horizon bundle for my card. As soon as I saw this bundle, I knew I had to have it. It reminded me of our camping trips down on the Oregon Coast. That is definitely one of my favourite spots to camp. I love the ocean!

Here is the card I created:

I started by creating my watercolour tools. I added a few drops of re-inker to my water painter and added water to it. I used a water painter for Sahara Sand ink and another one for Misty Moonlight ink. I painted my inks onto a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper. I started by painting on the sky/water using the Misty Moonlight filled water painter. I then added the beach/sand using the Sahara Sand filled water painter. I let this dry for quite a while. I could have used my heat tool to dry it faster but I wasn't in a hurry. Once it was completely dry, I stamped the grasses image from the On the Horizon stamp set using Sahara Sand ink. I then stamped the seagulls image using Jet Black Staz On ink. I used my Stamparatus to stamp the seagulls because I knew I would want to stamp it more than once to get a nice dark image. The Stamparatus allows me to do that and make sure that the image stamps in the correct spot every time.

On a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the fence board image using Early Espresso ink. I stamped the image about four times in a row. I then used the fences dies from the bundle to cut these out. I added the fences to either side of my card front using adhesive. I cut out the grasses image using a die from the same bundle. I used a piece of DSP from the New Horizon DSP pack to cut out the grass images. The image actually has a long narrow piece to it as well but I didn't want that part for my card so I simply snipped it off and just used the bushy grass portion. I attached these to the ends of my fences using adhesive.

I matted my watercolour cardstock onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then added that to a Basic White thick card base.

I stamped my sentiment using Jet Black Staz On ink on a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock. I fussy cut around the words and added that to my card using dimensionals.

To complete my card, I added some Pebbles Enamel Shapes. I absolutely love these little pebbles! They are so real looking and add just what this card needs to complete it.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. Here is the link to the video if you would like to watch it. Please be kind as videos are not my strong point. https://youtu.be/3DVfFwr-uiM
