Forever Blossoms

Hello friends! Well thankfully we had a beautiful day on Sunday because the weather changed again by Monday. I suppose we needed the rain though. It was nice again on Wednesday and I met a friend for a walk along the boardwalk. I haven't been walking much lately because of my toe so it was great to get out and walk. I'll share a couple pictures at the end of this post.

Today's card features another of my favourite stamp sets that is retiring. This time I used the Forever Blossoms stamp set. I love this set for wedding cards especially. Today I made a Hello card using the Forever Blossoms stamp set but I used a really fun technique that I haven't done in ages - the Whitewash Technique.

On a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, I stamped the larger flower image using Versamark ink. I added some White Embossing Powder from the Basics set and heated it to melt using my heat tool. I then used my Water Painter and some White Craft Ink and painted all of the flowers, stems and leaves. Here is a picture of everything all painted white.

After it was completely dried, I added colour to the image using the Water Painter again. I added Blushing Bride to the flowers and Pear Pizzazz to the stems and leaves. The final colour is very subdued and there is still alot of white showing through. I love this look though. I matted the Crumb Cake piece onto a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock and then matted that onto a piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock.

I used a Crumb Cake card base. On top of this, I added a piece of Basic White cardstock that I embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. This is my absolute favourite embossing folder of all times and I am very sad to see it is retiring. I had to use it one more time on today's card though.

I coloured some White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon using my Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blends and wrapped this around the embossed Basic White cardstock before I added it to my Crumb Cake card base. I would have used a Blushing Bride Stampin' Blend to colour my ribbon but it doesn't exist so I used Flirty Flamingo. I think it is a pretty good match.

I added my stamped white washed image to my card front using dimensionals. I stamped my sentiment from the Hello Ladybug stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a small strip of Basic White cardstock. I cut a banner cut into one edge of my sentiment piece and then added it to my card using dimensionals.

So when we were on our walk, I was so excited to see that the ospreys had returned! Mama was sitting on the platform with the beginning of a nest and Papa was over in a tree having some lunch. It was great to see them. I am going to have to keep going down to check on them now that I know they are back.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card and the osprey update. I am sad to see this stamp set leaving us but there will be something just as fabulous to take it's place in the new catalogue.

Stay well and keep creating!

Timeless Tulips

Hello friends! What a beautiful day we had on Sunday - our first really warm day of the year. It truly fills a person with hope for Spring and Summer.

The next few posts will be using some of my favourite stamps that are retiring with the end of the current annual catalogue. While it is always sad to see stamps we love retire, it is exciting to see what the new catalogue has.

Today's card features the Timeless Tulips stamp. I find it a little odd that the stamp is retiring but the coordinating punch is not. Maybe there will be something else that will go with it in an upcoming catalogue.

So for today's card, I used inspiration from my own garden. My one and only tulip that survived the hungry squirrel. He (or she) ate every bulb in my yard but somehow missed this one. As the squirrels seem to be increasing in numbers, I don't think I will put more bulbs in next fall. It is such a disappointment to discover that somebody has eaten them and I won't have any pretty flowers. I get that they need to eat too but I just wish they wouldn't eat my bulbs.....

I started by inking up the larger flower stamp in Daffodil Delight ink and then using a sponge dauber, I added some Poppy Parade ink to the stamp. I stamped my flower onto a piece of Basic White cardstock. I repeated this process with the smaller flower stamp, twice. I then stamped the stems and leaves using Pear Pizzazz ink. Because this stamp is a photopolymer stamp, it was really easy to line up the flowers, stems and leaves. I stamped my sentiment in the upper right hand corner using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

I matted my stamped piece onto a piece of Poppy Parade cardstock. I then wrapped around some White Crinkled Seam Binding that I coloured using my Old Olive Stampin' Blends. I would have used Pear Pizzazz but there is no Stampin' Blends in that colour. I think the Old Olive is pretty close though.

I added the card front onto a Daffodil Delight card base. And that completes my card for today. I think I will send this one to my Auntie. She is very special to me and I think she will appreciate a homemade card.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I'm pretty sure my Auntie will be thrilled with it.

Stay well and keep creating!

Hello Ladybug #2

Hello friends! This is the final card from our Crafting at the Lake Event. This is the card that Susanne created using the Hello Ladybug Bundle that was given to everyone who attended the event. As I said in my last post, this bundle is going to carry over to the new annual catalogue. I am very happy to know that!

We started with a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock. We stamped the large leaf image randomly all over the entire piece of cardstock using Granny Apple Green ink. We matted this with a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock and attached it to a Basic White Thick card base.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, we added some Balmy Blue ink to the center of the cardstock using a Blending Brush. We then added some drops of water to the inked area by flicking a Water Painter Brush. Once it was dry, we attached this piece to the card front.

On another piece of Basic White cardstock, we stamped the ladybug image. We stamped the body using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and the wings using Real Red ink. We punched out the ladybug parts using the corresponding punch. We then attached the wings to the body using adhesive and attached the ladybug to the inked area of the card front using dimensionals.

On a small strip of Basic Black cardstock, we stamped the sentiment using Versamark ink. We added White Embossing Powder (from the Basics set) and heated it to melt using our heat tool. We added the sentiment strip to the card front using dimensionals.

To complete the card, we added a few Brushed Brass Butterflies. They are so adorable!

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I love it and I think I will make some more just like it.

Stay well and keep creating!

One More Easter Card

Hello friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend. I know this card is a little late for Easter but I made one more using the adorable Easter Friends stamp set and I wanted to share it with you.

I started with a Petal Pink card base. I added the polka dot DSP from the Hand Penned DSP pack to a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock. I tied a piece of White Crinkled Ribbon around this and tied it into a knot. I added this to my Petal Pink card base with adhesive.

On a piece of Shimmery White cardstock, I stamped the bunny from the Easter Friends stamp set using Basic Gray ink. I stamped the bunny image on a scrap piece of paper and cut it out using my paper snips. I laid this on top of my stamped image on the shimmery white cardstock. I then stamped the grass image a few times using Granny Apple Green ink. The paper bunny image acts as a mat so that when the grass is stamped it doesn't stamp on the bunny I want to use on my card.

I used my Water Painter and some Sahara Sand ink to colour in my bunny. I thought the gray lines on the stamped image would smudge since I was using a water painter but surprisingly, they didn't. I also used the Water Painter with some Pool Party ink to colour the sky around the bunny. Once the image was dry, I matted it on a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock. I added this to my card front using dimensionals.

On another small piece of Shimmery White cardstock, I stamped my sentiment using Basic Gray ink. I matted this on a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock and added it to my card front below my bunny using dimensionals.

To complete my card, I added a few of the white gems from the Classic Matte Dots. I feel it ties in the images with the dots on the DSP.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. This is a really cute Easter Stamp set but it could also be used for baby cards or even birthday cards for little ones.

Stay well and keep creating!
