Wisteria Wishes

Hello friends! Wow, has summer ever arrived in Kelowna! It is supposed to get up to 40 degrees by the end of this week. I love the heat but this is actually a bit too hot for me. I hope everyone stays  well during this heat wave. And I hope we don't end up with more forest fires!

Last weekend my daughter and granddaughter joined us out at the lake. (Dad had to work) It was the baby's first experience at the beach and she loved it! I'll add some pictures at the end of this post.

So for today's card I am sharing one that I designed for my stamp group. I used the Wisteria Wishes Bundle to make this card. One of the gals on our team ended up in hospital needing surgery so I sent her this card as a get well card. She was thrilled with it.

I started with a Sahara Sand card base. On top of that I added a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that I embossed using the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder. This embossing folder is perfect if you want to add just a little bit extra texture to your card but still keeping it subtle.

I used the Wisteria Dies from the bundle to cut out the more solid wisteria pieces from some Highland Heather cardstock. I then cut out the more detailed wisteria pieces from some Fresh Freesia cardstock. I attached the detailed piece on top of the more solid piece using Tombo glue.

I also cut out the leaves pieces from some Pear Pizzazz cardstock. I removed the lower stem from one of the branches and attached the leaves to the top of my card front using Tombo glue. I then attached the wisteria pieces to the branches that were hanging down.

I stamped my sentiment from the Wisteria Wishes stamp set on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Sahara Sand ink. I cut out a stitched banner from a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock using the Stylish Shapes Dies set. I added my sentiment piece to the banner and then added it to the card front using dimensionals.

I tied a bow using a piece of Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon and added it to the top of the leaves using a glue dot. That completes my card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I am glad that my team member liked it!

Stay well and keep creating!

Wonderful World #2

Hello friends! Today I am sharing "Small World" story part two. This is a continuation from my last post. Approximately 8 years ago, we were heading out to the lake for the first time that season. As we pulled up to our property we saw that someone had parked a boat and trailer on the edge of our lot. We were used to this since we were gone for the entire winter season so the neighbourhood would use our lot as extra parking. We didn't mind when we weren't around but don't want our property to be a parking lot while we are there. A man came running out from the house two doors down saying he was moving it right away. So as it turns out, my hubby knows this man from skiing in Kelowna. He had just retired and bought the house on the same street as us. His wife is the sister to the man at the end of the street. So the amazing nurse I was speaking about in the last post is her Mother too.

Of course I had to make them a card as well. I used the Wonderful World stamp set again.

I used the "Marker to Stamp" technique to stamp the Iris image on a piece of Basic White cardstock. I used my Highland Heather Marker to colour the flower portion and my Granny Apple Green Marker to colour the leaves and stems. These markers are from the Brights Stampin' Write Markers Collection. I matted this image with a piece of Highland Heather cardstock. I wrapped a piece of White Crinkled Seam Binding around this and tied it into a knot.

I stamped my sentiment from the Quiet Meadow Stamp set on another piece of Basic White cardstock using Basic Gray ink. I stamped in the lower right corner of the cardstock. I then embossed the entire piece of cardstock using the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder. I attached my embossed piece directly to a Highland Heather card base.

I attached my matted flower image to the card front using dimensionals. That completes my card.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I wanted it to be similar to the previous card but also a little different. I think they will like it.

Stay well and keep creating!

Wonderful World

Hello friends! I have a "Small World" story to share with you today. In 2003 we were evacuated because of the fires in Kelowna. We went out to Christina Lake to stay with friends that had a property out there. We loaded up the kids and the cat in our old travel trailer and parked on their property until we were allowed to come back home. After staying there for a week we decided to get our own property there. We got our lot at the end of 2003 so we didn't actually stay on it until the Spring of 2004. When we got there, we met all of the wonderful neighbours on our street. As it turns out, one of the guys' Mother lives in Kelowna. As we were talking we realized she was the nurse at my family doctor's office for 20 years. I think she retired a few years after this time. She was an amazing nurse and I really missed her when she left.

When we were at the lake last week, we learned that this amazing woman was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive cancer. Her outlook is not really good, unfortunately.

I decided to make a card for the family because I find sympathy cards are really difficult to make when you need them.

I used the Wonderful World stamp set which is a Sale-a-bration item. It is only available as a free item with a package of coordinating DSP when you order $120 from any current catalog. It is a beautiful distinctive set which means it gives very real details when you stamp.

I started by stamping the largest flower image from the set on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Basic Gray ink. I used my Pool Party Stampin' Blends to colour in the flower. I matted this image on a piece of Pool Party cardstock.

On another piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped my sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set using Basic Gray ink. I stamped it in the lower right corner. I then used the Quatrefoil Tile embossing folder and embossed the cardstock to just above where the sentiment was stamped leaving the lower portion plain.

I wrapped a piece of Pool Party Sheer ribbon around this embossed cardstock and tied it into a knot. I then attached the cardstock directly to a Pool Party card base. I added my matted flower image to the card front using dimensionals.

Thank you for stopping in today. I hope you enjoyed this card. This is a fairly simple card but knowing who it is for, I know they would not want anything too fancy.

Stay well and keep creating!

Alphabest #2

Hello friends! Hope you all had a great weekend with all of this gorgeous weather. I am loving this hot, sunny weather.

Today I am sharing the second Take and Make from our Crafting at the Lake Event. This card was designed by my friend Susanne Netz. As with my previous card, she used the Alphabest Bundle that the attendees received in their swag bags. I love this card! It is so bright and happy.

I stamped the Star stamp from the Alphabest Stamp set all over a piece of Basic White cardstock using Daffodil Delight ink. I added this piece to a card base of Crumb Cake.

On a strip of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Frame stamp 10 times using Crumb Cake ink. I used different, bright ink colours to stamp the letters to spell out "happy b day". I also inked up the Floral stamp by inking up the leaves in Garden Green and the flowers in Flirty Flamingo. The colours I used for the letters are Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Sweet Sorbet, Flirty Flamingo, Calypso Coral, Garden Green, Bermuda Bay, Gorgeous Grape and Fresh Freesia. I used the coordinating punch from the bundle to punch out the letters and flower image. I added these to my card front using dimensionals.

I love how this is a relatively simple card but since the colours used are so bright and varied it gives it lots of Wow.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I love the colours used.

Stay well and keep creating!

Alphabest

Hello friends! It looks like summer has finally arrived. I am so happy. Last week we were at the lake and the weather was definitely variable. We had storms like I've never seen out there but also had wonderful days of sunshine. It was great to get back out there and just relax. I did miss my granddaughter and my craft room though. That little angel is 6 months old today and I was lucky enough to spend the day with her while her Mom got errands done. I'll share some pictures at the end of this post as this is about card making after all......

Today's card was one that I designed for the Take and Make for the Crafting at the Lake Event. Everyone who attended last time received the Alphabest Bundle in their swag bag. They also received a PDF to make this card at home.

I started with a piece of Parakeet Party cardstock that I stamped all over using Tahitian Tide ink and the Stars stamp that is in the Alphabest Stamp set. I matted this on a piece of Basic White cardstock and added it to a Tahitian Tide card base.

On top of the Parakeet Party cardstock, I added a strip of Tahitian Tide cardstock. I stamped the stars all over this piece as well using the same ink. I used my paper snips to cut a banner cut into each end of the strip. I then attached it to the middle of my card front using dimensionals.

On a strip of Basic White cardstock I stamped the Frame stamp 11 times using Tahitian Tide ink. I then stamped the letters to spell out "hello friend" using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I used the corresponding punch from the bundle to punch out the letters. I added the letters to the card front above and below the Tahitian Tide strip using dimensionals.

To finish off my card, I added a bow on the left side of the Tahitian Tide strip using Parakeet Party Metallic Woven ribbon.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. This is a fun set that could be used for any occasion.

Stay well and keep creating
