Hello friends! I hope you are all doing well in this heat. We are back at the lake for another week as you are reading this. I have to say, I much prefer this weather over what we had during our last week out there.
Today's card was created for my older granddaughter. She is going to be 6 at the end of August! I can't believe it. It feels like not that long ago they were just heading home from the hospital. I still need to make a card for my grandson but I have some time.
I used the Hippest Hippos stamp set and coordinating Hippo Dies from the Sale-a-bration catalogue. Each of these is a level one item and is available for free with a $60 order.
I started with a Melon Mambo card base. On top of that I added a piece of DSP from the Hues of Happiness DSP package. I tied a ribbon around the DSP before I attached it to the card base. I used White Crinkled Seam Binding that I coloured using a Melon Mambo Stampin' Blends.
I stamped the ballerina hippo on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I then used Stampin' Blends to colour in the image. I used Smoky Slate to colour the hippo, Flirty Flamingo to colour her tutu and point shoes and Melon Mambo to paint her finger nails. I used Crumb Cake to create some ground that she is standing on. I also used Pool Party to outline the entire image just to make it pop a bit more. It is hard to see in the picture, but I used the Basic Gray Watercolor Pencil (from the Assortment 1 Watercolor Pencils) to add colour to her face and belly. I matted my coloured image on a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock. I attached this piece to my card front using dimensionals.
I stamped my sentiment on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Melon Mambo ink. The sentiment is from the A Grand Kid stamp set. I used a stitched banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set to cut out my sentiment. I used the same die to trace the outer edge of the die on a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock. I cut this out using my paper snips. I matted my sentiment piece on this cut out piece and then added it to my card front using dimensionals.
To complete my card, I added a little umbrella for the hippo to hold. The die is in the die set. I first cut out the umbrella from Basic Black cardstock. I then cut it out from Flirty Flamingo cardstock. I cut the handle off of the Flirty Flamingo umbrella and attached the top part of the umbrella to the Basic Black cardstock. The finished product is an umbrella with a black handle and a Flirty Flamingo top. I attached this to the stamped image using Tombo glue.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this card. I'm pretty sure my granddaughter will like it.
Stay well and keep creating!
Terry
