October Challenge Card

Hello friends! I hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving! Mine was very quiet. The kids went camping and hubby went kayaking for the weekend so it was just Bailey and me here at home. We will do a family dinner next weekend to combine Thanksgiving and the boys' birthdays. Hubby is on the 18th and my son-in-law is on the 19th. We always combine their birthdays but we'll add Thanksgiving in this year as well.

I participated in a Challenge that my friend Susanne posted on her group. She has invited me to be a part of her group which is so sweet of her. This challenge was one I have never seen before. There is a challenge posted for each letter of the alphabet and you are to spell your name or another word and apply those challenges for the letters to create your card.

I spelled my name and the challenges I had to use were: T-tie on some twine; E-emboss resist technique; R-round some or all of your corners; Y-incorporate a shade of yellow on your card. Here is the card I came up with:

I started by doing the emboss resist technique. I stamped the fern image from the Nature's Prints stamp set on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Versamark ink. I then added some white embossing powder from the Basics Embossing Powder pack and heated it to melt using my heat tool. After the images had cooled, I applied some Pear Pizzazz ink over top of the images using my Blending Brush. I used a tissue to wipe the ink off of the embossed images.

I used the corner rounder punch on the Detailed Trio Punch to round the top right and bottom left corners of my stamped piece. Unfortunately, this punch is retired but I had no other tool to use to round my corners. I could have manually cut them using my scissors but I would have made a mess. I am not very good at fussy cutting.

I decided to mat this piece with a piece of So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz cardstock. I rounded the same corners on these pieces of cardstock. Once I had these layers done, I wrapped some white baker's twine around it and tied it into a bow. The baker's twine is from the Baker's Twine Essentials pack. I added this to a card base of Basic White Thick cardstock using dimensionals.

On another small piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped my sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The sentiment is from the Season of Chic stamp set. I cut a banner edge into both edges of the sentiment piece and added it to the card front using dimensionals. Once I had my card almost done, I decided to round the same corners on my card base. I thought it looked better this way. It just looked wrong without the corners rounded.

To complete my card and tie in the So Saffron cardstock, I added some yellow jewels from the 2021-2022 In Colour Jewels pack.

Thank you for stopping in today. I hope you enjoyed this card. It was a really fun challenge to do. Do you enjoy doing challenges as much as I do?

Stay well and keep creating!
