Hello friends! I hope you all had a Happy Easter! Our adventure at Big White was so much fun. I haven't been up there for a few years so it was actually nice to be there again. Having my sweet little angel to play with might have had something to do with that though...
Today's card was made because I wanted to use the Beautiful Shapes Dies along with the Texture Chic DSP to make a card. Both of these items are retiring at the end of April so I wanted to be sure to use them again before they are gone.
I started by cutting many hexagons from the three green shades of DSP from the pack. I used the second smallest hexagon in the Beautiful Shapes Dies set. I created a pattern and attached these hexagons to a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock. After I had all of the hexagons attached, I cut down the piece of cardstock to the size I wanted. I matted this on a piece of Gold Foil cardstock.
Before I matted my hexagon piece, I cut a large hexagon out of the center of the Gold Foil cardstock. I stamped my sentiment onto a piece of Basic White cardstock using Evening Evergreen ink and cut it out using a hexagon die. The sentiment is from the Forever Fern stamp set. I matted my sentiment onto the hexagon that I cut from the Gold Foil piece.
I wrapped a piece of Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon around my hexagon piece and tied it into a bow. I then attached this to a card base of Soft Succulent cardstock.
To complete my card, I added my sentiment to the front using dimensionals.
I made a second card basically the same but I used the other colours in the DSP and switched up the cardstock that I used. I used the pink and yellow DSP along with Mango Melody and Petal Pink cardstock. I stamped my sentiment using Petal Pink ink and used Petal Pink Polyester ribbon to make my bow. I'm not sure which card I like better.
Unfortunately there are quite a few items in these cards that will be retiring: Texture Chic DSP, Beautiful Shapes Dies, Forever Fern stamp, Soft Succulent cardstock, Evening Evergreen cardstock and ink, Mango Melody cardstock, Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon and Petal Pink Polyester Ribbon. With the whole colour refresh this year, there are quite a few colours that will be retiring. I am sad to see some of them go but it is also very exciting to have new colours to play with!
Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoy these cards. Which one do you prefer?
Stay well and keep creating!
Terry
